I plan on playing single player/FOBs on my first playthrough with a gamepad just to learn exactly what options there are in the game. Then I will translate this into custom keybinds on m/kb when MGO comes out. It shall be glorious.

Well that's a shame for people with slower connections, but man, I may switch to the pc version just to get it a few hours early. The PC improvements almost had me sold already and I'm incredibly impatient.

Are there any good deals running on it at the moment?

I'm really confused. I'm in EST, so for me, the game unlocks at 8AM on the 31st, which is midnight NZ time? Or is that when I can start downloading the game?

Everyone is confused. The Konami rep said once it goes live in NZ (Sept 1st, midnight their time) it will be downloadable by everyone, without a VPN but that both is unprecedented and makes no sense. Especially since the unlock time on Steam itself still has 1pm EST on Sept 1st.

So no one really knows, but fingers crossed the rep wasn't just confused.

I think the Witcher did a global unlock based off of Poland's time zone without any vpn trickery. I don't know why Konami would do the same, but they seem to not care about doing what's expected these days. I hope it's unlocked first thing monday.

Do you know the Twitter handles of any people who are involved with the PR? I could shoot them a question for some clarification.

Go back and read Jasec posts, so far nothing indicates that it will happen like that because even NZ unlock time is set to 10am PST on the 1st.

Can you remember if the time it said it unlocked on Steam was accurate in that case?

Has there been any consensus about whether the game is releasing worldwide at NZ midnight?

I live in the EST and right now the steam store page says the game will unlock in 5 days and 3 hours - putting it at 9/1 1PM.

Yeah 9/1 at 1pm means that my physical copy will arrive before the steam release can even start dowbloading.

darn, I really hope this unlocks at the NZ time. With my download rate I won't be able to play on the 31 anyway, but if it doesn't unlock then I won't be able to play it on 9/1 :(

I posed the question to Robert Peeler, the community manager who clarified the Mother Base coin controversy from earlier this week.

I hope he's correct.

if it unlocks early that is still kinda a preload lol. it unlocks 30 hours early from when it was originally supposed to in pst.

Yeah but it doesn't go in line with steam unlock times and it depends on those and not what he says, so that's why we still don't know.

Exactly. No preload is a bummer, but it's better than having to wait two weeks at least. I was planning to play it on PS4 then switch to PC when it released, and at least now I won't have that headache.

I am MUCH more upset about the lack of companion app!

After the 1st pre-loading will not matter. But no companion app will always suck!

The first and last game I ever preloaded was DMC4SE. It took so long to download/prepare whatever it needed to unlock that I could have downloaded the game in what was probably less time. Does it always take so long?

TPP is currently only available in a bundle with GZ, the countdown is showing how long the bundle is available. TPP is available for download/play as of 8am eastern on the 31st.

As someone else said, the witcher 3 unlocked at a nonstandard time as well.

they should change it from "it unlocks" to "get this bundle while it lasts"

well I've only received TPP through the nvidia code, had to buy GZ seperately. but I sure hope you are right, I've upgraded my PC for this although I could play it this Saturday on PS4.

Preloading does more than letting people play exactly at midnight (or whenever) - it also prevents day 1 downloading errors. It lets people spread out their download at their leisure several days prior so that there isn't a crazy, sever-killing surge of people trying to download exactly at launch.

This really sucks, MKX was pretty bad at release because of the 30gb or whatever mandatory patch. I didn't get to play MKX until like 7 am the day it launched, despite starting everything right at midnight. And my internet connection isn't bad.

Preloads for steam games should be the norm. It's frustrating whenever games come out without the option. It should be a no-brainer. MGS:TPP spoilers are already everywhere. No need to keep the PC version from being data mined.

They wouldn't be able to data mine the PC version anyway. Steam pre-loads are heavily encrypted.

The nvidia code is just for the single game, just like every other nvidia code, regardless of any other pre-release bundles or preorder incentives exclusive to a retailer (steam in this case). That is separate from a steam pre-order.

I got FC4 from my 970 purchase, and I had to wait until the normal store refresh at 1pm eastern because it was a promotional offer through nvidia, not a preorder on steam (even though after release, there's no difference).
