I Hate myself for doing this but ended up canceling my physical pre-order and pre-ordering digitally, I NEED to be able to play this tonight not tomorrow at 11AM to pick it up from gamestop. I thought I would be always physical bros but I guess I am justifying by saying I would never resell the game anyway so what difference does it make if its digital.

You have succumbed to the inevitable.

Whether it's now or 5 years from now, what's the difference?

Have they? The biggest complaints I'm hearing is that auto-piloting to the monster is ez baby mode, and being able to call your mount mid combat and sharpen/heal etc while moving makes the game so easy. You can do absolutely all of these in World. So what are the stark differences? I must have missed it. The only difference I'm aware of is that you can actually pilot your Seikret, where Raider Rides could not be player controlled directly.
oh buddy, you haven't been following this closely huh? get ready to be dissapointed:
  • you can use it during combat, which is the biggest complaint I've seen
  • you get it from the start
  • you have free control over it
so basically, nothing like what you compared it to

I really think you’re going overboard on this… you could ride palamutes in Rise, during combat. You could call them to pick you up. It wasn’t that big of a deal.

I’m playing Monster Hunter Rise to see if I liked it enough to get Monster Hunter Wilds tomorrow but it’s so overwhelming and confusing. Mega hard pass!

the person I was responding to was comparing it to Worlds, not Rise. I'm also quoting the review videos, people in the review thread, and people in this very thread. I've only played Worlds really (I briefly played the mh4u on the 3ds a longggg time ago).

I don't know enough of these games or play them enough to care one way or the other, but the difficulty is pretty much the biggest complaint I've seen in every single review video. and for people newer to the series like me, that is what we go off of. for what its worth, the beta did feel very very easy compared to World given the mechanics

edit: fwiw I started with Worlds due to people telling me Rise is too easy. so if this is easier than Rise, yeah I think that would be an issue

I would think fans of the series would be upset that the game is moving towards easy mode. maybe this is what y'all want? in which case, that's all gravy

Must of pulled that ridiculous price out of Jeff Bezos ass.
Hard to believe it's happening and I'll be playing it in mere hours.
After the vitriolic foaming of mouths on here, I'm apprehensive to say the least.

Seikret uses the Palamute Skeleton so the only viable comparison is the Palamute. Palamute could attack and give you buffs but you could also ride it manually to use consumables or sharpen on the go.

Mounted combat on the Seikret especially for Bowguns is much improved. And with the addition of grabbing you after knockdown or railroading toward an objective regardless of where it is makes it much easier as a whole.

On one hand it's massive QoL on the other hand it might promote bad behaviors when it comes to fighting monsters and going back to previous games will kinda suck.

Step 1. Pick Weapon.
Step 2: Go to Blacksmith and see stronger equipment you want to make
Step 3: Hunt Monster until you get all materials
Step4: Make Equipment
Step 5: Repeat.

at first I thought you were just making a typo, there's world and wilds, not worlds 😅
my bad, apparently it didn’t make a lasting impression lol

on a more serious note, I really enjoyed World and it makes me sad that they see to be straying away from the things that made me love it most. new game is much easier and much shorter. I think I spent at least 40 hours on the campaign in World, and am hearing it is closer to 10-12 in Wilds.

when I was researching whether to play Rise and World, I landed on World due to the difficulty. I don't doubt they made Rise easier after World as some are saying, again I never played it. but it makes sense because people on this very forum recommended I play World over Rise due to Rise being too easy.

overall it seems like people in this thread are happy the games are getting easier, so maybe I'm just not the target audience

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
beat it 2 hours ago and proceeded on with end game which I find so much better. Traditional Monhun pacinc without the forced walking bullshit the main story forced me through every 15 min

Well this sucks. Im in Ohio and brought my steam deck instead of my ps portal / laptop. Hope someone is able to make it playable.

Anyone able to make their character look like Fiorayne from Rise?

I missed this earlier today and only thought to check now (half an hour before release). New Nvidia drivers were released today. Monster Hunter Wilds is listed as "game ready".

As with any driver update, do so at your own risk and be ready to roll back if it's scuffed.

Download started.

I'm just realizing that I should have customized my hunter with the beta before tonight. I was just using one of the presets to get into the game faster...

Too bad my ol' reliable "straw man" isn't available as one of the presets (I don't think?)

Game is great, visuals are fucked, no matter how much I tinker with the HDR settings it's not quite right. Overall I expected more from CAPCOM, Dragon's Dogma 2 last year was more impressive and there is a lot more going on in that game. Still, gameplay is King and this is going to be one hell of a ride 👌

Finished compiling shaders, and was just about to hit play when I saw... High Resolution Texture Pack!.. Yeah.. I'll wait a little longer.

As expected, the release client ships with DLSS 3.7.10.0 (same as benchmark) so you will need to force DLSS 4 (version 310+) yourself if you want to enjoy Transformer mode

Hmm, my female character's voice seems deeper than I remember setting it to in the beta. Gonna have to use that "free trial" character edit ticket already... sigh. Really wish Capcom would stop being so greedy with cosmetic DLC but alas...

I didn't do the beta but my female voice is definitely deeper then I just set it in the character creator one. Kind of bummed about it.

IG feels night and day better than in the betas. Well done, Capcom.

Nothing else feels too different from the beta so far, but performance is better for sure. The game auto-set itself at 4k Ultra settings, but I think i'll be backing down some of them. My fans kick on a little high for my liking while playing.

Caved and hopped in at launch. Playing on ps5 pro, performance mode. Performance is a nice 60fps in gameplay. However is it just me or are the textures AWFUL for nearly everything? It’s all such low res blurry pixel textures everywhere.

Just took out Quematrice and heading to bed. The onboarding process is so good. I can really see a lot of new people getting into MH from this. So many systems are carefully explained to the player that just AREN’T in previous games.

High res texture pack really helps. There are a couple oddball low res textures. Like the provisioner’s apron. It’s giving FF7R door.

I read that in TU1, there will be a second monster..? 🤔🤔🤔🤔

Giving a nice rack to the blacksmith and a cutscene every time you craft an item might just be the best upgrade over World that I've seen so far.

so with the newest Nvidia drivers and the newest MH version including the HD textures pack....
- this still looks like a mid gen PS4 game with a performance like some pathtracing titles, actually scrap that, it`s worse because it`s highly inconsistent
- the HDR settings are fucked, as no matter how much you play around it never looks quite right
- it doesn´t come with the latest DLSS and you have to work with dlss swapper and profile inspector to get the TNN model
- Already had a crash and I´ve barely played an hour

Yeah, this is another technological dumpsterfire from Capcom. No matter If the gamedesign behind it is GOTY material, right now, this release version deserves the mixed reviews it`s getting....

Loving the game despite the subpar visuals, performance has been rock solid on Pro and that's the most important thing. Do hope they give us the texture pack option though, Black Ops 6 had it, no reason why this shouldn't.

Its because of Capcom choice of engine, the RE engine which is not very good in open world game like for example DD2 and it is still using FSr1. But maybe they did that for development reasons, balancing, ease of development, cost cutting and easy multiplatform porting. This could have been different if they used Decima engine or Cryengine or UE5. Or ifs exclusive to one platform like for example PS exclusive which development will be focus on harnessing the power of a specific console. But still the game has so many physics and effects, weather and night and day mode. Even at base ps5 the performance is decent, still beautiful and playable. And most of all great combat and gameplay and good story which really matters most.

Saw some who were interested in playing together, so I setup a NeoGAF squad to get things started (if someone wants lead/sub-lead let me know). For those who don't know, it's basically a guild/clan and you can use it to join a squad lobby to more easily play together (bc Capcom somehow made multiplayer more confusing than ever).

Squad name: NeoGAF
Squad ID: XG6EV5EH

How to join:
  1. Talk to Felicita/go to squad information counter at base camp.
  2. Manage squads --> join a new squad --> squad ID search.
  3. Search for XG6EV5EH and request to join (approval required).
  4. Post your character name in this thread and tag a leader/sub-leader.
You need to finish the tutorial hunt and talk to a few people in base camp to unlock the squad counter.
