Monster Hunter Wilds update coming "early April" will crank up the difficulty and add a new place to hang out with other players, addressing 2 big concerns

Second coming of Lunastra…..

I'm excited. I will get one for my Ps5. But I will need allot of guide to have a proper set up of my character to start. Might check some spoiler free guides for character building. The early good character building and set up is crucial for a smooth flow throughout the game. Almost like GT7 were early set up is important :messenger_beaming:

Just learned that they are keeping the dumb system from World where each person has to watch the cutscene separately in a quest before being able to join their friend.
This made playing co-op in World extremely tedious and they got plenty of negative feedback, only to do the exact same thing again.
I think the idea is you want each person to feel the *joy* of discovering the monster on their own or something, so it would mean having to teleport the other players, or only having one main character in the cutscene.
I'm so conflicted on this game, if endgame is just story but with numbers go up, I'm going to wait for a deep sale and pick it up when they've done a bunch of QoL, and hopefully balanced story difficulty.
Seeing a ton of people who got soured on this game after reviews, still worthwhile probably, but not the day 1 megahype train that it was supposed to be especially following the masterpiece that is World.

Makes this game an easy skip for me besides the shitty performance for middling visuals.

Lol fuck off capcom, they should have fixed at least the challenge in time for launch...

Yeah, you absolutely need to change the bird-dog to manual controls. It’s a must. What’s nice is that the auto-run stuff is still just a button press away and you can speed that up/down. So you don’t lose any functionality by having manual controls. This really should’ve been default.

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
Wait until tomorrow, there is a chance that capcom is gonna rebalance weapons and mknster with the day one patch.

Not even joking or being envy, if i had the copy in my hand i will still wait for the day one patch to start playing.

(Probably some fix to performances aswell)
I thought day 1 patch was already live?

Seems this thing is worth picking up but maybe early April. Some of the features meant for launch seemed to have been kept back just so Capcom can hit their fiscal year. Yep, not rewarding shitty business practices.

I really am on the fence with this game. It's mostly down to difficulty. I did play World a bit but only about 30 or 40 hours.
One of the things that popped into my head was how when you get knocked over you can jump on the Seikret. I think they should have made the Seikret flee when a monster is actively fighting and not limping.
The length of fights seems much shorter too. I liked the sense of struggle and ongoing battle with the monsters from World. It was part of the fun because it felt like the bigger ones were an actual task and a struggle to finally bring down.

I know limiting yourself is shitty game design and i hate doing that in games, but not using the sakreid in combat and not bringing the palico at all seems to to be the only way to get kinda close to the still uber easy but still an improvement chelallenge of base rise.

My hunter. Playing in Balance mode on the Pro. Colour Saturation at 6. Game looks and feels good to play.

Pretty good, but I’d darken skin color a bit, if she’s that light in the character creator she will be glowing when the sun hits her.

Also personally I’d lower her upper eye lids just a tad.

Overall not bad though. Nice work.

So you're complaining about the difficulty level, yet you still bought it? :messenger_grinning_smiling:
I had the game in preorder for months and more important, i can enjoy something and still criticize parts of it, do you only buy and enjoy 10\10 perfect games?

The gameplay and monsters quality is still gonna be stellar.

I can sort of emphasize why devs usually make their review embargo like a day before release. Right now so many people have spent an entire week playing this game in their head and have somehow formed concrete opinions on it from imagination alone... It's completely detached from reality and such a disservice to the game.

One thing I love to see is since they brought back two returning characters from MH4 they should also bring back His Immenseness for Master Rank in the expansion.

How the devs treated Insect Glaive was a bigger disservice to the game IMO. MH fans have been playing the game in their head for months. A week is rather cute.

Can’t believe I never grabbed a pic of my hunter during the beta… guess I don’t really think too much about screenshots while playing. Despite being a dork and getting into fashion souls/hunters etc. I always try to come up with stuff I’m not seeing other people use. This was my Rise hunter:

I was planning to go to sleep early, but that’s probably impossible lol.

Nah, i had the hunch that the game was about to be easy since the beginning when they shared the first gameplay infos, many people can confirm that my biggest fear has always been the game being a cakewalk because they streamlined too much and added too many tools to the player, i said it multiple times in multiple previous topics about the game, when you have 35 years of gaming experience you can sniff some things, i didn't really needed reviews.

Also don't forget that we had 2 betas so we actually tried the game already.

I still have a small hope that the day one patch is gonna balance something and i'm still gonna have a lot of fun with the game.

Been doing some back and forth between Performance and Res mode on a Base PS5 and the Performance mode is much more improved compared to the blur fest that was in the beta. On my 1080p TV and even screenshots on computer i struggle to find the diferences between the 2 versions now. Ppl on higher res TV will probably notice a bigger diference. During the beta was pretty easy to see what version was running cuz performance mode was so blury, but now the image quality is pretty decent. Res mode is still more sharp.

I Hate myself for doing this but ended up canceling my physical pre-order and pre-ordering digitally, I NEED to be able to play this tonight not tomorrow at 11AM to pick it up from gamestop. I thought I would be always physical bros but I guess I am justifying by saying I would never resell the game anyway so what difference does it make if its digital.

You have succumbed to the inevitable.

Whether it's now or 5 years from now, what's the difference?

Btw, any change for the game to unlock tonight at 00:00 on steam?

I wish! I absolutely love the moments leading up to a game’s release. There’s something incredibly exciting about it, even if the game ends up being a disappointment. That first launch, stepping into an unfamiliar world, and slowly getting to know its mechanics and atmosphere, it’s just an amazing feeling.

LETS GOOOO!!!!

I just bought the standard edition. Just so I'm clear, the other two editions is all just content of the cosmetic garbage variety, right? I'm just trying to kill monsters, not trying to look a certain way doing it.

Everything is cosmetic. If they follow the same format as previous games, everything (monsters, quests) will be free in title updates until the expansion releases down the road. Any more microtransactions would just be for cosmetic stuff.

I hope it's Vaal Hazak. Filtering players that don't want to farm appropriate gear first.

Plus VH's armor looks cooler.
Yeah his entire difficulty depends on if you have proper gear or decoration to protect yourself aginst his miasma.

Ok yeah maybe that comment isn't fully applicable on this case, and it's not worth shitting up the OT to keep going on about this, but I agree that you could tell from like the first monster in the first beta last year that the enhanced mobility was going to make thing easier. I guess my confusion is why are people reacting to the reviews like it is new information.
