Monster Hunter Wilds | OT | There goes 2000 hours of your life!

How many hours are you investing in Monster Hunter Wilds

It’s launching everywhere at the same time, so presumably, no.

Also: why does EVERYONE forget about Raider Rides in World?

Seems like everyone is having a big bitch fit about seikrets being able to auto pilot while you heal, sharpen, etc. That’s LITERALLY how raider rides worked in World. Why is this some huge new game killing feature to everyone NOW? People really got rose colored glasses regarding World.

Completely different and misses the point entirely. Can’t summon in combat, no free control, way more restrictive overall.

In other news,
Preload done, now all that’s left to do is wait. Have Friday and Monday off. It’s going to be gaming heaven.

I ordered the stealbook edition, so my copy arrives at Feb 28th.

Just learned that they are keeping the dumb system from World where each person has to watch the cutscene separately in a quest before being able to join their friend.
This made playing co-op in World extremely tedious and they got plenty of negative feedback, only to do the exact same thing again.
I think the idea is you want each person to feel the *joy* of discovering the monster on their own or something, so it would mean having to teleport the other players, or only having one main character in the cutscene.
I'm so conflicted on this game, if endgame is just story but with numbers go up, I'm going to wait for a deep sale and pick it up when they've done a bunch of QoL, and hopefully balanced story difficulty.
Seeing a ton of people who got soured on this game after reviews, still worthwhile probably, but not the day 1 megahype train that it was supposed to be especially following the masterpiece that is World.

When World first came out we had same exact drama with people shitting on the game both for “easy” difficulty and performance on PS4…..until Iceborne came out.

and don’t forget that the ps4 pro performance mode barely kept 45 fps

actually no. New zealand ps5 launches feb 28 midnight local time which means 6am feb 27 eastern US time. this is also why the last embargo is 6am. a little more than 8 hours from now
I was wrong; I was looking at PC times. I didn't notice that consoles were up to 18 hours ahead in eastern territories. Annoying.

The cutscene thingy is not exactly the same. Yes you can't watch cutscene together but the joining process is much better. Hard to explain but you will see.

Yup, and we gone through again with Rise…….we are just repeating exact drama all over again.
Dozens of people, veteran of mh included already said that it is much more easy than rise and world

A direct comparison is not just saying "the game is easy", it straight up tells you that the game is even easier than rise that was already much easier than world.

In worlds I ran bow and my wife ran dual blades, hopefully those are both still in cause we liked em. Trying not to look over too many previews/media to avoid spoilers. Is there a weapons guide anywhere that doesn't spoil anything in the game?
Bow now has aim bot, a lot of ppl ll main bow

Have they? The biggest complaints I'm hearing is that auto-piloting to the monster is ez baby mode, and being able to call your mount mid combat and sharpen/heal etc while moving makes the game so easy. You can do absolutely all of these in World. So what are the stark differences? I must have missed it. The only difference I'm aware of is that you can actually pilot your Seikret, where Raider Rides could not be player controlled directly.
The difference is that Seikret is available on the go, World raiders are hidden behind side Quest, so If you rush the game you ll probably not even get one till you look online and you need to do the side Quest for every map.

Why would anyone start playing without the day one patch?
They obviously wouldn't, but from a preservation point of view, it's important to have an actual playable build of the game printed on the disc that can be installed and played offline, even if the build is old and comes with its own set of technical glitches and shortcomings.

make sure the pudding isn't too soggy but that just ruins everything
i was considering staying up till midnight and playing a couple hours... but i'm thinking the better play might be to go to bed super early and just wake up super early. then i can truly nolife without interruption lol.

Would you mind DMing me more info? A friend of mine literally went from day 1 to “no” because of this.
When you have a linked party, you will automatically send out invite once your cutscene is over. However your co-op partner will get his own cutscene and has to fully watch it then he can accept your invite.

Basically it's kinda same World shit but with link party the person inviting doesn't need to do anything extra (no sos etc). The invitee however does have to accept invite (or maybe this can be auto accepted, didn't check settings).

Hello, thank you for the OT. I'm hyped about this one, but currently finishing my up Rogue on D4. Can't wait to play. Going to be playing on Pro. Glad the game got amazing reviews! I'm hoping this will be the most popular MH ever and the first one I'm really going to take a deep dive into. Until then enjoy your hunts gents and remember to keep your women loose, blades sharp, and powder dry!

You gotta be kidding me. I thought there was no way they’d bring that back.

Japanese companies still have no clue how to craft seamless online experiences. The amount of hoops this series makes you jump through to play with friends has been absurd for years.

I only enjoyed MH Rise and its expansion. World never got me into it, and prior games on mobile I never really messed with.

So far all intents and purposes this is my second MH game.

I don’t have a deep tie to the franchise so I’ll likely enjoy it more than veterans who have expectations in mind.

Me? I just want to hammer bonk each monster once and call it a wrap. Preloaded and ready to go for tonight on ps5 pro.

See ya later boysssss
Wait until tomorrow, there is a chance that capcom is gonna rebalance weapons and mknster with the day one patch.

Not even joking or being envy, if i had the copy in my hand i will still wait for the day one patch to start playing.

(Probably some fix to performances aswell)

Runs great on my Pro, Performance Mode all the way. Visually it's going to take a lot of fiddling around with the HDR settings to get the right look, still not happy with it. Overall it could absolutely pass for a PS4 game though cutscenes can look more next-gen. I think the real difference will be seen in the animations/physics bit I need to spend a few hours with it to come a definitive conclusion. Either way I'm hyped to be in the MonHun universe again, nothing else quite like it 👌
