I only got to play witch and duelist over the weekend and I want to play more of it, so I guess I'll donate too. :)

I am so giving them my 10 bucks. When is the planned full release anyway?

Don't think they announced a release date yet, at least I haven't seen it anywhere.

Did anyone try playing this in groups with friends? I found that levelling seemed to be a bit slower in a group and that the areas didn't really scale in difficulty to the size of your group or anything. Kind of confused with that as it seems somewhat important to an MMO to have smooth multi-player...

Oh god. I've never played a Diablo game at length. This seems super hardcore. Will I find it fun? Time will tell.

I played the Baldur's Gate games on consoles and a good bit of Titan Quest on PC... Please don't laugh at me.

This game has it's hooks in me bad, and I don't even really know why. Sad that the free weekend is over. Definitely donating for beta access.

BG Dark Alliance is sort of a different genre, but if you played enough Titan Quest you should have a pretty good idea.

Lol, so my opinion is smh worthy ?

Dude a lot of people hate how Diablo 3 looks. There is a reason for that.

As of global chat, do you really care? Seriously.

Yes, it was smh-worthy. If you didn't have a sheep opinion you'd see that D3 doesn't look like WoW or overly cartoony. I used the router disconnect glitch to get past the beta content into the next area and it was very Diablo-y. It's not a cartoonish game. Diablo 2 had plenty of color in it as well, which people seem to forget due to nostalgia.

The other part of your post that was smh-worthy was the comment about how only PoE, Diablo 1, and Diablo 2 have "satisfying" hit effects and sounds. Diablo 3 trumps all of them... it's one of the things they worked on the most, the skills and attacks have AWESOME hit effects and sounds. Play a barbarian and see how you knock enemies around like rag dolls with the physics and the very satisfying nature of the hit animations and sound... has that meaty OOMPH feeling. In fact, I would say neither D1 or D2 had this. In D2 the monsters felt like they were made of paper at times. D3 they feel meaty and heavier so when you kill them it feels very satisfying.

Ehhhh...couldn't be bothered playing very long. Combat isn't very satisfying at all, I can't rebind keys as freely as I can in Diablo 3 (which is very bad for me considering I'm left handed) and I'm just not a fan of the "Diablo 1.5 with better graphics" vibe I get from it. Diablo 3 has waaaay better presentation IMO. The UI is also kind of ugly.

Something about it just doesn't endear itself to me, mostly in the story. I had absolutely no idea what was going on or why I should care the entire time I was playing it. The quests were very texty and not interesting to read at all, the gem system is an odd take on skills, and most of the skills were pretty boring early on (though this does get better later).

Good to see the developers speaking to the community the whole weekend. Everytime i was on, Rory was still on answering questions and taking feedback. I literally stayed in the starting area for an hour just reading the comments in the chat and asking questions.

I asked afew Q's and got some A's back aswell.

1) The devs eventually want to get the game on Steam.
2) Cash shop will live soon
3) There is no Pay2win, just cosmetic stuff
4) Open beta is in 2 months
5) No plans for Shoulder pad slots, as Armour visually has them already
6) Guild/Clan system is planned
7) Zoom in/Zoom out function is planned
8) The game does indeed have randomized areas, some are fixed.
9) Oceanic servers are being 'looked into'
10) Sex change options for the characters will be paid DLC if they ever come out
11) There will be options to seperate Global/Local chat into tabs or something in the future.

He said something about PvP but i can't remember what it was.

All of those things look/sound awesome, only thing is the shoulder slot. Would be nice to have the extra loot, but annoying because we'd need extra inventory space to carry them and such. I think the game is pretty fine without them. Oceanic servers will be good for me, being in Australia, however I didn't really notice any HUGE problems with lag. Occasional delays on hits, the odd monster moving oddly that seemed lag related, but otherwise fine. Definitely looking forward to playing more of this game in the future.

Fair enough, but just to let you know the combat gets much more satisfying by the time you get to level 30 or 40. Its supposed to start out slow.

This is exactly what I felt. There was nothing to really draw me in at the start. I played for a few hours, and while it was certainly a competent action RPG in the Diablo style, nothing made the game appealing to me over any other game in the genre.

I felt the presentation was really quite poor, but I guess if you consider how many people worked on it, it's not bad. I really don't see where the good buzz is coming from. I think I'd much rather play Diablo 2, even with it's dated visuals.

Besides, F2P almost always means a ton more grind than necessary with cool things being locked behind pay walls. I'd rather just pay for stuff up front and get all of the content.

From the FAQ: "The purchasable perks do not convey any gameplay benefit, but help you create a unique look for your character and its fighting style."

They've mentioned quite a few times that the game won't be pay 2 win at all. But I agree, while the story doesn't even matter much in diablo 2, its presentation allows for a higher level of immersion and significance.

Story isnt even in yet in beta. They are planning really nice story and introduction to the game, with cutscenes and such from what i remember. You can even see some of that on their trailers. They also plan to have voice acting for all NPCs, just its still too early.
They are also making tutorial and better start for new players.

Its hack and slash game, grinding is a gameplay.

For people that say that game is slow at the beginning, its design choice, because game is made with end game in mind. Every new character in full release will start faster and faster, because You will some loot for it and many skill gems from drops and trading.

Nice to hear about the story. I'll definitely check it out when they get some more stuff implemented.

I can never understand that "it's all about the end-game" design philosophy. Why even have anything other than the "end-game" and a brief tutorial? It's like admitting that the rest of your game is just a tedious grind.

When You are making a game for hardcore fans that by design should last for 10 years, Your main goal is to keep them engaged even after 1000 hours. They are more focused on getting stable userbase [like in EVE Online - only mmo with stable community growth for 9 years in row] than making engaging game for first few hours.
Its not that they will completely ignore early game, but for them its the least important part of a game. Thats why game is so deep and char progression so customizable.

And when You think about that for a second You will understand why. Just image that You have late game char/chars, stash full of skills and currency items and want to start new one. You wont play it like now, but You will rush through Normal as fast as You can, because it will be a cakewalk and You will probably skip most objectives and get waypoints from friends just to get through it.
What is a point in focusing most of development time [especially for such a small team] on things that will be skipped by most players they are aiming for?

They said that they will make start from scratch better, but i wouldnt bet that it will much better than its now [from a gameplay staindpoint].
If they'll introduce normal auction house [and i hope they will, except barter one via board], getting new skills few weeks after a release wont be a problem even for new players.

Got myself a beta key for 10 dollars. Path of Exile is an amazing game. I love the skill/system and I'm constantly trying out new things with skill gems and support runes.

Best 10$ I have spent on a game this year so far!
