so has anyone managed to get the platinum yet? the fucking gunrange is driving me insane. My ole fingers aint what they used to be, damnit.

the gunrange is infuriating on controller due to the bad aiming...

I'm currently playing Chibi Robo on Dolphin (Series X) because I never did and always wanted to play it, and it's crazy how a child friendly, low budget GC game has better fucking controller aiming than a AAA shooter in 2023...

😢 why Capcom? WHYYYYY???

Currently on the 3rd last playthrough, clearing up Hardcore / Standard S+ ranks, Then one last Professional run to unlock the final weapon and Platinum. 40 hours so far.

I bought the rifle but I'm second guessing my choice. Takes a lot of inventory space and it zooming gives a slight stutter. It also zooms in to far for my liking.

Think I'll reload and purchase it later on.

Not sure what you mean, I can't get enough praises from Ashley for my aiming, she's even started to look at me in awe 😏

I think this answers my question as well. The Xbox version of the game has a dead zone and acceleration issue that is fucking up the aiming. I was hoping it would have been addressed by now.

Finally got around to play this for just a bit. At least until Ada showed up.

Leon is significantly more sluggish in shooting. I notice this a lot after the reload animation and there's like a split second where you can't fire shots. Also the aiming reticule takes a long time to focus completely.

I hope the upgrades alleviate this and feel more impactful.

Still unsure about the crafting aspects. it feels very tacked on to slide in some form of gunpowder crafting.

Ammo crafting gives you the option to craft the specific ammo you want, so you don’t have to totally rely solely on RNG when breaking crates. It has it’s purpose.

I dunno. Obviously, I'm still early in the game but I'd rather have ammo I can use instead of crafting items wasting space in my inventory cause I'm missing ingredients.

Currently starting chapter 10 and really liking the castle segment. Game keeps getting better and better.

Is it just me or is it more difficult to buy weapons and tune them? I'm constantly searching for treasures and only selling them when I have all gems on them. By chapter 10 I still don't have any weapon maxed out.

I beat my first run on Hardcore. 22 hours doing just about everything except for the shooting range. This was genuinely one of the best gaming experiences I've had in my entire life. It's insane that Capcom never hit RE4s heights again until they remade it, because this gives OGRE4 a legit run for it's money as the best RE game and best horror action game of all time.

A few negatives:
-U3 being removed is bullshit. He was my second favorite boss in the OG game after Krauser and one of the biggest horror moments of the game. Removing him and then designating Verdugo as U3 was lazy.
-They kind of phoned in the Island. The Village and Castle had huge changes and tons of new content to improve on the OG. The Island was basically a streamlined greatest hits version of the OG Island (minus U3, of course). It's improved, but IMO not to the same degree other locations were
-Salazar's new boss fight was annoying and a downgrade from the original boss design and fight IMO. Only boss I didn't really enjoy.
-The RPD outfit as an unlockable seemed like a no brainer. It not being included when it was in the original is legit annoying. It's my favorite look on Leon and it's all I used in OG RE4 once I unlocked it.
-New Ada sucks. No need to get into this since you've heard it all before. I'm glad they gave her moment where she saved Leon's life from Krauser to NuLuis instead, because my god Luis was badass in that scene. It's insane that they followed up with this Ada after giving us her RE2make version, which was potentially the best version of the character we've ever gotten.

Other than that? I genuinely can't list all the positives because I'd be writing an essay. This game was near perfection for me. The only thing I'll bring up is that the boss fight with Krauser is up there as one of the best boss fights I've ever experienced, and it was against a freaking (mostly) human. Unreal.

Personally, I hope we're done with the remakes. I want to see this team take on modern action horror entries with OG characters while the RE7 team continues making survival horror entries with ew characters. Bring old Leon more inline with his RE4make version and give us a modern game of this quality.

Should I be upgrading the basic pistol in addition to the Red9?

Having difficulty figuring out which weapons to upgrade first. I went with the Combat Knife just because it seems like that helps out all the time.

i'd suggest one gun per ammo type (i went with red9, too), & only upgrading as necessary, as you eventually get some much more interesting weapons to choose from...

Nah pick one. Red 9 will do a lot more damage once you get its exclusive upgrade.

I think starting pistol might be much more fun to use though. I don’t really like shooting the red9. Fire rate is too slow and no laser sight.

I know from experience that you don't come across Sub Machinegun, Rifle, Shotgun, and Magnum ammo nearly as much as Handgun. So crafting gives you the choice on which gun you want more ammo for. Additionally things like Attachable Mines and Flash Grenades become pretty useful later on, especially having one or two Flash Grenades in your inventory to insta-kill parasites. You'll also eventually be able to craft Heavy Grenades which do a fuck ton of damage to mobs.

Anyone here use the Crossbow? I upgraded it and it was really useful early game - much less so later on because the enemies just have way too many HP.

How is the TMP? Should I bother?

im on chapter 11 (in the mines) and I have only found 6 of the little clockwork collectible guys. I've been checking every nook and cranny of the map too.. so either they are extremely well hidden or they are all hidden in later chapters of the game...

There’s only 1 per chapter

Only upgrade one of them, and choose the Silver Ghost (the first handgun) as the one to max out. The 5x Crit Chance is amazing. You’ll be popping heads like crazy.

I'm playing on XSX on resolution mode without RT. Has anyone noticed this bug? Each time I open the Map or the Inventory, when I return to the game, all textures are low res during a second or two.

This is how it looks during gameplay:

And this just after closing the Inventory or the Map, but only during one or two seconds:

The bug fix for this one is making the load between the Menus and gameplay last 2 seconds longer, sadly...

Beat it. Good for a more serious version of RE4. It definitely doesn’t replace original 4. Especially if you want a more cheesy 90s action film style game.

One thing, why does Leon never give Ashley a gun?

Salazar isn’t anywhere near as entertaining.

Oh yeah, The credits song sucks.

And yeah Ada is just like deadpan bored or something. Not the actresses fault, I’m sure it was a choice by the director.

-Ashley has no combat training

-nah, I think Salazar was roughly on par with the original. Saddler though felt like less of a presence compared to the original, too many “virus visions” as opposed to actually speaking directly to Leon

Finally got to shooting gallery.

My god… This is so much harder than the original… Probably because I’m on controller but this is a lot more complicated than it‘s supposed to be.

edit: finally got everything on 1-a to 1-c phew.

Did you have to upgrade your weapons to make the shooting gallery easier?

I didn’t. I didn’t think it would carry over to the shooting gallery guns since they seem to provide it even if you didn’t buy a rifle for example.

I’m not sure though. I only upgraded my knife, tmp and bowgun. Guns I know won’t get a better version later on at least back in OG.

so you didn't see the multiple videos, including Digital Foundry's and NXG's, showcasing what's wrong with them then I guess lol

but Chibi Robo's aiming controls on the other hand, are indeed perfectly fine... I actually would say, aside from missing settings you'd expect in a modern game, it's perfect

I wish J.J. was the same GIJoe reject he was from the '05 version. Now he has a bull helmet, with a weird turret thing on his arm.

Uh! OK. Less effort, I suppose.
I always thought the original J.J looked super out of place. Like you have these crazy villagers, creepy cultists and weird gas mask militants, then suddenly a big black guy appears with a minigun...
I think having a bloody boar helmet equipped with a homemade handcannon is way more appropriate.

I don't think it feels the same without Ada's famous red dress. It's iconic to the character overall.

Imagine Wesker not having his sunglasses. It just wouldn't feel right. 💃

Hm... What do we think, lads?

It seems weird how afraid Capcom has become to show off skin. The OG dress (impractical as it was, though still iconic) was very different:

I think once again I feel validated for owning a gaming PC, because the power of mods will correct a developer’s mistake.

“Hey! Remember that thing you loved? Here it is, but not really!”

Maybe the original attires are planned for DLC. Although I think it should have been the case that they were included from the beginning. If anything, just because they consist of the original costumes fans recognise.

But it is what it is.

It's disappointing but probably a decent compromise. Unlike western devs, they have resisted the urge to make their female characters ugly, manly and fat. They added boob and ass physics. Characters actually flirt with the opposite sex which is shocking nowadays.

I played RE3 on PC and tbh, the OG suit with the leggings didnt bother me enough to download any mods. Of course, youtube knew i secretly wanted more and kept recommending me RE3 playthroughs featuring naked Jill with giant tits among other non-dresses.
