Shpeshal Nick of Xbox Era claims Switch 2 is $449 ($500 for Mario Kart bundle)

Everything is more expensive so this isn’t shocking. I also feel companies have no faith in the economy getting better in 18 months so price high now so you don’t launch low and have to raise the price later.

Have they ever released hardware in June?
The N64 released in June in Japan and the NES in July.
Then of course their handhelds (and the Switch) have released at times in the Spring.
I wouldn't put a summer release outside the realm of possibility, especially considering they are letting people play the thing end of April/May.

I think it’s an ok price if they make it cheaper in EU to account for insane taxes, inflation and that some of us are not using the euro. Else we will have a Pro situation again.

$300 in 2017 is $380 now. So it's about 70 dollars more than the Switch 1. Not that much of an upgrade.

Sure.... if you believe the hardware is actually worth the price to begin with.

You are going to be paying $450USD to play Nintendo games and essentially PS4 ports....tough swallow in 2025....let alone 2026, 27....

This is my thought as well. I wonder if the tariff price is already built in and they can price drop later if need be.

You'll know when they announce the EU price. If the US price is analogous to the EU price, then tariff was not priced in. Also it would not be a smart idea to pre-price in tariffs that don't exist yet and have people pay $499 for the console. Then come May when it's official there are no tariffs on video games they drop the price to $399. The people who paid the $499 just a month prior will be pissed.

New dock clearly does a lot more. BOM definitely more expensive but not THAT much more to justify a $200 price jump on it's own. I think $500 is fair from a "yeah I'll use this for 5+ years" perspective. Probably saving room for a price cut down the road to $350-400 and Nintendo definitely wants to protect their current margins throughout the launch.
