Nintendo will never release a $500 console in the US.
better be the Oled model for rumored price of $449.00.

I'm thinking this too.Why would these families buy a switch 2 when the switch 1 is still fully functional and can play minecraft and fortnite?
The Switch 2 won't play all Switch games. I'm not sure if it will be a just few exceptions, but the disclaimer at the end of the trailer wasn't encouraging.
I think this is a reference to things Labo and Ring Fit.Oh shit, no way? I didn't read it. Gonna watch it again now. Surely it will only be a few exceptions.
cause i played DK on snes whe u prolly were in ur dads sacks j/k but really 60€ price tag for lazy ports for 31 years old game
why do you care, lol. They're better games than the shit Sony and MS have been feeding us for the last 4+ years

They had a similar thing for PS5 and things ended up fine. The Switch 2 won't play all Switch games. I'm not sure if it will be a just few exceptions, but the disclaimer at the end of the trailer wasn't encouraging.
I thought Switch OLED was $349.99?$449 sounds right. Oled dinosaur Switch is $399.
$400 in US is about €480 with EU VAT since US price doesn’t include taxes. So it depends on Nintendo’s profit per unit and how much they are willing to subsidize European customers. There is no way Nintendo would ever release a console above the €399 price. Hell, even €349 was already a big ask for most of their fans.
The product is for everyone and the price should reflect that.
It has to be attractive for kids and also as a present from parents to kids. 400$ isn't a attractive present. 299 or 350 is. The 4 makes it look too expensive.$400 in US is about €480 with EU VAT since US price doesn’t include taxes. Rumor is $399 (so $400) to $449 in US. So yeah, most likely this thing will be expensive .It has to be attractive for kids and also as a present from parents to kids. 400$ isn't an attractive present. 299 or 350 is. The 4 makes it look too expensive.
No. Nintendo won't go above 399. That's just not how they roll. It won't go above 399. Either in Dollars or Euro.Rumor is $399 (so $400) to $449 in US. So yeah, most likely this thing will be expensive .
You're right. Idk why I thought $399.I thought Switch OLED was $349.99?
With the OLED still being $349, I can't see them releasing the Switch 2 for less than $50 more. But maybe they'll positively surprise us!It has to be attractive for kids and also as a present from parents to kids. 400$ isn't a attractive present. 299 or 350 is. The 4 makes it look too expensive.
The OLED will get a price reduction obviously. Nintendo will not release a console at 400 or more. It's all about the psychology behind the price. With the OLED still being $349, I can't see them releasing the Switch 2 for less than $50 more. But maybe they'll positively surprise us!
I could be tempted$500 for the (OLED model)?
Let’s hope you are right.No. Nintendo won't go above 399. That's just not how they roll. It won't go above 399. Either in Dollars or Euro.
It's a psychological thing. The 4 makes it look to expensive. That's why 299 is a great price and even 349 is.
I wish I had your optimism haha. Do you see $399 being possible? The OLED will get a price reduction obviously. Nintendo will not release a console at 400 or more. It's all about the psychology behind the price.
The 4 makes it look expensive. And people don't associate Nintendo consoles with expensive normally, so doing that now would make a lot of people doubt about a potential purchase.
I highly doubt the Switch 2 Dock does much more than the OG dock. Its not like there will be some secret hidden GPU in there lol.New dock clearly does a lot more. BOM definitely more expensive but not THAT much more to justify a $200 price jump on it's own. I think $500 is fair from a "yeah I'll use this for 5+ years" perspective. Probably saving room for a price cut down the road to $350-400 and Nintendo definitely wants to protect their current margins throughout the launch.
That would of been cool if they could pull that off. A throwback to the old SLI graphics cards.I highly doubt the Switch 2 Dock does much more than the OG dock. Its not like there will be some secret hidden GPU in there lol.
Yes, but only if it won't go above €399. So maybe $349 / €399. Nintendo wants to keep this product as interesting and accessible to as many people as possible. That's their whole thing. For a lot of parents Nintendo is still being seen as a "toy". When you go into $400+ territory you ain't a toy anymore.I wish I had your optimism haha. Do you see $399 being possible?
350 when the Switch 1 hadn't ever gotten a price cut is very optimistic imo.Yes, but only if it won't go above €399. So maybe $349 / €399. Did you consider that in my example Nintendo would give all Switch 1 models a hefty price cut?350 when the Switch 1 hadn't ever gotten a price cut is very optimistic imo.
This is going to be $400/450 at a minimum, especially when you factor cross-gen into the equation.
Possible, but I don't see why they should do so? It's not like they have a problem selling those Switch 1s, and like I said, cross-gen is going to last a while here.Did you consider that in my example Nintendo would give all Switch 1 models a hefty price cut?
Like I said before, Nintendo needs to keep the S2 as interesting for as many people as possible. Taking into account the huge library of S1 games, Nintendo needs to have some gap between the S1 and 2 to make sure people buy the S2. So, maybe a price cut wouldn't even be necessary.Possible, but I don't see why they should do so? I think $400 is a reasonable enough price, but it will still be compared to Steam Deck at that price (starts at $350).Like I said before, Nintendo needs to keep the S2 as interesting for as many people as possible. As long as it doesn't go above $400. That's the main thing.
Nintendo will do everything in their power to keep the price attractive to as large an audience as possible. They need to move units so they can sell their software.I think $400 is a reasonable enough price, but it will still be compared to Steam Deck at that price (starts at $350).
I don't see Nvidia of all companies cutting Nintendo a sweet deal on that SoC tbh.
My main questioning isn't whether they will do their best or not, we know they will.Nintendo will do everything in their power to keep the price attractive to as large an audience as possible. They need to move units so they can sell their software.
Nvidia knows Nintendo intended price point and worked with them to make sure they hit the price lolMy main questioning isn't whether they will do their best or not, we know they will.
But they are over a barrel from a bargaining position perspective because they have to go with Nvidia (because of backcompat).
