Setups
I will be purchasing every TV used at this tournament to ensure that it has no lag and every station is standardized. This way, everyone has an equally positive experience.

ASUS VH236 Monitors have been purchased.

This tournament will be run on XBOX360s over HDMI. Top 8 for all games will be on a projector in a ballroom with theater seating.

3rd Strike will be on PS2 Anniversary Edition on SD TVs.

Venue Fee - $20

Each game entry will be $10.

Prize payouts - 70/20/10
SFIV will have a bonus $700/$200/$100 added to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd from me.

Hotel
I have rooms blocked out for the event so out of towners, you guys are very welcome to come! Room rates at the Hilton are usually $165 for a double but our special rate is at $85 a night. $250 for a suite for you ballers (the hotel has 4, I already bought two of them =D). Just ask for the Warzone tournament group rate.

Come make a weekend out of this event! I have setup a cash bar for the tournament on both days so get your drink on, hit up the 24 hour IHOP a block away, and crash on Saturday at the Hilton.

Make sure to cheers me when you got a drink in hand. I'll be the guy with the vodka tonics in one hand and long islands in the other. =D

NOTICE
We are working on a social event for Friday night as well so you may want to book both Friday and Saturday night! It will be worth your time!

Parking:
As this is near an airport, there is a parking fee for the hotel. Worry not, I've lowered the rate to a measly $3 a day. Carpooling is encouraged.

Food:
There is a 24 hour IHOP down a block as well as a Carl's Jr, El Torito, Gulliver's Prime Rib, and more. I will update this information as soon as I get the tournament website up.

Anyway, I'm thinking about getting the PS3 version of this game as well. I'm not sure whether I'll wait till october when my Xbox Live subscription is done or get it sooner. I want to play Valkyria Chronicles and Wii Sports Resort so maybe I'll pick it up later. Decisions decisions. :(

Has there been any official news on the regular edition yet- When is it being released? What will it cost?

Also, I really want to get this game, but what is holding me back is the possible pseudo-requirement of getting a stick. I hate the idea of having to buy an accessory to compete online at all. Is this game like SF4 in that sense?

There is only four buttons you need, so this game should be way more pad friendly then sf4.

That's a good thing for sure, but it wasn't the buttons that were a huge issue with me in sf4. The inputs were so unreliable and unresponsive on a pad, it was unplayable. Even doing the training was aggravating...let alone actually accomplishing anything remotely complicated in game.

I'm watching the game on youtube right now. I love the concepts for some of these characters. But the voices are very annoying! Possibly the most annoying I've ever heard in a game. I know there's an option to silence the voices in the game and I think I'll be using that option for sure. Is anyone doing this? Does it make the game harder to play because you're missing audio queues?

Thanks guys for answering these simple questions. I'm very cautious right now about buying another fighter for reasons that don't have anything to do with this thread so I'll leave it at that.

I was worried about not having a stick, but after playing around 700 matches online with the 360 controller I've been doing fine.

I didn't even realize you could turn voices off, I never notice it being annoying in the actual fight. Either way, they pretty much just shout the names of attacks while they're happening so I don't think it'll make a difference.

Finally got to playing some ranked matched tonight, got up to level 24 I think...I still suck though. I got over my fear of high ranks though, seems that alot of them aren't that good, they just play ALOT. I got a shit ton of point beating a level 48 when I was a 19!

Any "expert" pointers for Litchi? I've been messing with her for a while in single player and decided to see how I'd do online. Got railed by Jin/Ragna scrubs three matches in a row, ragequit on the 4th one.

BTW, found a new combo with Nu tonight. Maybe the super experts know it but I think it's nifty.

Okay, everybody knows this basic Nu combo.

Instead of going straight for the 236D, do a very short hop and do a "2D D". That gets you 6 sword attacks instead of 5. If you're at just the right distance, you can also finish it off with her 214D, making it 7.

I need help doing a 60-hit combo with Nu. I do 236236D (x2) > 8C > 2C but it never works...I always end up getting between 40-50 hits. I'm doing this in training mode. Any tips would be nice.

You should be able to tell if the combo messes up somewhere. All the swords need to hit in 236236D, all 8 sword things need to hit, and all of 2C needs to hit to make exactly 60 hits. I'm not really sure what tips I can give since it took me awhile too, just make sure the full combo is connecting, and if it isn't just try it again with different timing.

I probably do a move too late or too early. I'm trying to figure out which but since I can't tell wtf is happening during the combo it confuses me. I'll keep messing around with it.

There's a combo you can do that has more than 60 hits.

(midair) 2C

Make sure aerial roll, emergency roll, and wake-up are on.

It's basically what you're doing but you add the forward C then down C before you jump.

I'd posted a couple of pages back about that exact same thing. I could never get the jump right though. Do you use a stick?

MadCatz fightpad. That setup is actually pretty similar to a basic aerial Nu combo that I try to do fairly often.

Just jump, immediately hit C, then press down C.

It has to be an insanely short jump and you have to be off of the 'command' almost instantly or else it turns a different attack. I didn't even think it was possible...

The first attack should be sort of a sideways attack and the second should be sort of a round backflip attack. What are you getting?

Relix ran the last SF4 tourney and he said he is working on one of BB. Don't worry about replies here, once the thread is up, there will be no shortage of entries.

BTW, that irvine tourney sounds lame. Tournaments with "venue" fees on top of entry fees are bullshit(that includes evo).

With the SF4 tournament finished I am working on the Blazblue one now. Will be with Pools and then the last matches in a double elimination-style bracket. Unless someone really hates this idea =P. Working on the thread now.

I've never played a tournament round robin style so it might be nice to give it a shot. Your "win 6 rounds" line confused some people last time though. Depending on how things go, you may end up winning 8 rounds over 3 matches. Just keep it simple.

That's what I get for copying the same set of rules I use for every tournament :lol ! Gonna take that line out. Just win 2 matches out of 3 =P

So I pulled my record out of the ditch. I started at 3-20 or something like that and now I'm 49-48. Not bad.
I have gotten kind of ok with Hakumen but it's quite obvious that the higher skilled player see right through my tactics and pound me into the ground.

I'm having a blast with this game though and I can't believe how smooth the netcode is. Sometimes I forget I'm playing online!

All the combo videos are on YouTube. Apart from those there's nothing worth mentioning on the DVD. The soundtrack is cool, though.

Cheap version it is then. I guess the Madcatz stick is pretty good so now I am more confident in getting this game.
