Moody and his damn Nu. It will be killed. Some day. Maybe.

I guess you didn't see it, but his Nu got downed by Qis's bang. After losing the first match his Bang got back and won decisively the following 2 or 3 matches.

*ahem*, we only played twice (that night).

Man... fuck Nu on the harder difficulties. I haven't played the game since it first hit arcades, but my Ragna and V-13 are good enough to take out everyone but her.

Shame Ragna's Supers don't have much use outside of invincibility. Rapid cancels all day.

Nu is some LOL Magneto type shit. My friend is slowly getting accustomed to her with Jin. lol I'll be sad if a nerf comes.

Main : Ragna
Alt : V-13

Really? Sorry, my memory seems to be failing me :(
Guess that's because his Bang was so impressive I counted it more than 1 match.

Don't wish to derail you guys and your tournament antics, but I was wondering if anyone had any beginner tips for Bang?

I've been psyched about BB for a while, and I finally bit the bullet and imported the US LE (you only live once, eh?) Should be arriving soonly... can't wait :D

Having seen videos of Bang, and having an unquenchable ninja fetish, I feel I have to at least give him a go. I know nothing about tiers and stuff for this game, but is he sensible for starting out? Are all the characters reasonably similar in terms of getting to grips, or should I start out with one of the flagship/stereotype characters?

Cheers!

Well, his bang is, indeed, sick.

Learn to use his Distortion counter ASAP, Bang's damage is pretty shite and his combo start-ups are kind of slow too.

Bang seems like a fine startup character. The only thing is I think playing him well will be highly reliant on how well you know your opponents attacks, since he relies so much on countering.

I tried my hands at Score Attack last night with Nu. Everyone is pretty much a cakewalk with her (since they hardly ever try to exert pressure or block the swords) up until Unlimited Rachel. Once I get to her she rapes me a new asshole every time.

When do most of the psn guys usually hop on gafchat? I never see anyone anymore, and I want to feast on the new bloods.

If I'm not busy, usually I'm on in the period of 8-11PM , central time.

Her hp is low and her defense is shite. It's very hard for her to escape from close-range pressure, especially if she's in a corner. Learn some combo strings for keeping her close or in the corner and she won't be as much of a problem. Also, her sword attacks have very long animation times. If Nu throws out a sword and misses, rush in ASAP and start your combo.

Yeah, I've met many a Nu who can do that sword combo but can't handle the high pressure close-in game. Gotta watch out and not let her get too far away.

I tried Score Attack for the first time with my main (V-13) and i just cheesed the living crap out of everyone til unlimited Ragna.

DD > 4DD> 236D and repeat. over and over and over again. They recover, get hit by DD again, and fall down. Even unlimited rachel/v-13 fell to this nonsense.

now unlimited ragna is just a different beast, you can do the same thing, but my god, if you whiff and he hits you with a carnage scissor, he recovers 25% of his health, and ur down 75% of your own. its just unfair. I only beat it by countering his carnage scissors miraculously with 5DD whenever he had 50 heat.

Yeah, if Ragna gets close enough to you, it's pretty much match over unless you can escape and regain some distance from him and keep back.

I can honestly say Nu's the only character that frustrates me. She may be weak close range, but if she's able to just hit you once close range, she's back at long range and throwing swords again. She also has a barrier burst, so it has to be about 3-4 times you have to close in. The ones who can counter close range and run away again... so frustrating!!! I'm looking at you, Tek.

Really? I've tried that with unlimited rachel and her stupid pink lightning loves to come out of nowhere and kill me. Her damn frog likes to pop up too.

Tager doesn't need an air dash, gtfo. Really, Tager needs his 360s switched to 720s and his 720 switched to a 1440. Gotta buffer that shit through your whole combo. That's how it should work. Also, no projectile super armor on sledge.

Real talk: Nu needs better melee options. I think if her swords had no deadzone, the game would be a lot more balanced.

Nu also needs an instant K.O. button. Much more balanced.

There's a combo you can do that has more than 60 hits.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sVTyjG1QR4Q

236236D (x2)
6C
2C
jump C
(midair) 2C

Make sure aerial roll, emergency roll, and wake-up are on.

It's basically what you're doing but you add the forward C then down C before you jump.
I actually was able to pull off the combo I mentioned earlier. I just held it off until morning and did it on my second try. Thanks for the help guys.

Whoa, let's not get crazy.

Maybe have her astral heat able to be used in all rounds with no health restrictions.

Sorry, I get a little excited sometimes. She should also have super armor on all of her moves.

Joking aside, Nu and Arakune are the only two characters that are truly unbalanced. It'd only take some minor tweaking to make them not be so godly.

Nu i wouldn't worry about. Tager you should be scared shitless about. In the right hands, he's a power house. My poor Tao can't keep the pressure on with that punk. Jin on the other hand is doable.

Any good guides/walkthroughs floating around for noobs?

The disc that comes with the game is pretty good for helping new players start out. For more advanced tactics, there's Dustloop.com.

I heard there was supposed to be a guide release, but I've heard nothing about it since launch.

:lol at the V13 hate. Hakumen freaking destroys her.

Not at high level play. A very good Hakuman has a good chance at beating a good Nu (IF he can get in), but Nu is higher tier than Hakumen. A good Nu player shuts out all options.

Did you buy it used? All new copies are upgraded to Limited Edition for free, and comes with the soundtrack+tutorial disc. You can go to Dustloop still.
