I got shat on by a nasty Korean litchi she is easily the combo beast of Blazblue, it's over if she corner traps you ive never taken a worst ass beating in a fighting game :lol

Ya once she gets you in the corner it can become pretty devastating, that's the only place she really shines besides her range.

Unfortunately she takes quite a bit of technical skill to win with. Even at high level play she sits on lower tier. At lower experience play I'd put her pretty much at the bottom with carl.

Yes he can dominate lower level play easily. Also when I say "easy damage" I don't mean spamming drive attack. Some of her simple combos that aren't difficult at all do a very sizable amount of damage. Her distortions also combo really well and do decent damage.

But again I'm bias since I play a character that's on the same tier, has hard combos that do less damage, distortions that require setup etc...

Oh...well...:D

Probably quite true. As Rachel, most of my wins are against Litchi, oddly enough.

Gave up sifting through the thread trying to find an answer for this question: can BlazBlue be played effectively with a standard 360 controller or does it call for a stick/alternate controller?

I did not enjoy SF2 HD remix with the standard controller and SF4 appears to have similar characteristics. I'm not really interested in purchasing additional controller hardware, since the majority of my play time would consist of versus with friends in my lounge room.

So, what's the verdict, GAF?

You can play the game just fine with a 360 controller, especially if you use easy specials, but you'll probably end up using the analog stick over the D-Pad.

You mash it hard enough you get full body invulnerability instead of upper-body.

I still mess around with many of the characters lol have not settled on one, playing diff characters keeps it fresh and fun

I agree. It's too bad more people don't feel that way because I get bored of playing the same dudes over and over.

In the past week I've gotten King Of Fighters, and MvC2, but this game is the one that keeps calling me back...but damn near everyone I would play with is playing MvC2 now. It's depressing! I'm not that great at fighters, but MvC just seems way to simple after BB and I can only play an hour or so at a time before I get bored.

Tager is actually one of the better counters for Noel D spammers, his B sledge breaks through it so they can basically never hit you if that is seriously all they're doing.

I'm not sure how many people have noticed this, but his sledge only nullifies drive attacks. That means anybody using Noel's D without incorporating it into a normal combo is suicide against Tager.

"I'm not sure how many people have noticed this, but his sledge only nullifies drive attacks."

I dunno if that's entirely true. Sledge seems to nullify Nu's standing C, for example. Unless you were just talking about Noel's drive attacks specifically.

It nullifies all projectile attacks, most normals aren't considered projectiles.

So projectile and drive attacks then? Because I sure as hell know that it rapes Noel's D spam real good. I guess I'll have to experiment more. =/

It considers Noel's Drive attacks as projectiles. Noel in particular has a bunch of normal attacks that incorporate her guns so they get considered projectiles, even her DD attacks can be sledged. The rest of the sledgable projectiles are pretty obvious, the only one close to Noel's level of weird things being considered projectiles would be Jin though, all of his drive attacks(sans ice car) end up sledgable too.

cant use them....
he is freaking mastered the curse cloud and the shitty cursy monsters so i cant do the ice cars from distance

the only chance to hit him with ice car when he use the dive attack which give me a big opening for ice car unless he appeared at the opposite side

I wish that ice car actually worked for me as much as people say it works against them.
If that was so, I'd quit Tao right now and spam myself to the top.

Hell, if I could get the ice car to work for me as much as people say it works against them , I'd abandon any sort of intelligent Jin combo play and go for gold. :lol

:lol I was playing notworksafe and we were just screwing around as different characters and I picked Hakumen. I remembered the shirt and the whole match I was like "6B! 6B! 6B!"

I was amused!

I really like how they approached Ranked Matches in BlazBlue, you can see your opponent's Gamertag... see what characters they prefer, not necessarily who they will pick and what level they are, their win / loss ratio. I have been trying to play Marvel vs Capcom 2 and you can't see anything!!! It's frustrating because I'm a middle-level player and I'm matched-up depending only on connection... gah!

this sentence was all gibberish to me but i treat online as a mario party minigame. one of those skill ones where you press a and look like you're having a seizure.

Is that how you feel about us Grifter. How you wound me!

I've been playing for a few days, and naturally drifted towards Noel. I hadn't even read much about how spammy people are with her drive but as soon as I sorta got the hang of her it became pretty clear how it could be used. I figured there'd be some easy counter to that sort of spam, and I guess while there is it's still somewhat effective.

I'm trying to learn Arakune now and good god am I awful with him. He's so goofy though, must stick with it. I'm terrified to step online, though.

I finally found a copy at Best Buy on accident today. I'm pretty excited!

I don't know how you could find one by accident but enjoy!!!

Btw, did anyone hit a ceiling? I don't know what else to do to improve myself =/

edit: if you like Noel, stick with Noel. You don't have to be one of those people who spam D all the time. Her normals are actually really good and set up with them. Either way, Arakune can be annoying as well. Most online players just try to curse and send bugs.

Just play who you like... don't let others dictate which player you should play.

Picked up my copy today, gonna get some practise in offline with some local versus but really enjoying it so far.

Between this, Wipeout Fury and Fat Princess my weekend is looking pretty stacked for gaming! Between Blazblue and Street Fighter 4 I'm pretty set for beat 'em ups for a while I think.

PSN ID: tobiasboon if you feel like someone to beat on and I'm not too busy. :lol

I played a few online matches agains Flek today and wow the netcode is incredible. It was pretty much like sitting next to each other. Other devs should ask Arc what magic they are using. :lol

I know how you feel about about BB calling you back :D I started playing SFIV since I had just gotten it, but...BB is just too awesome.

By the way, if there are still other XBL people that haven't added me, my GT is the same as my name here, so add me! And tell me you're from GAF, at least, 'cause I get weirded out from random FRs and deny them.

Also, I usually I like to play with at least two other people (though I don't mind with just one other person...but I like watching others play, too--and it'd be boring if it were one-sided battles =( ). Oh, and I still kinda suck :D

I just ordered a TE Stick from BB so I'll have a LE and a TE, not when people come over we can play for REALZ.

If anyone is looking for another sucky Jin player, my GT is EVERYlosersHERO...

Just play who you like... don't let others dictate which player you should play.

Which character do you play?
e.g. Ragna is much quicker to learn than let's say Rachel or Litchi.

My suggestion is, keep on playing. Take note what you have problems with. Or learn Ragna/Jin, meet other people who play your char well and safe the replays. I'd switch to Ragna vs Rachel mainers just so I'd get an understanding what to do with her.
Go to practice mode and have the other player spam things you have been having trouble with and learn to counter. That's of course very basic but outside of knowing how to punish unsafe stuff, there's only playing. Or I once set the computer to max level and had him use Nu just so I could learn how to block.

sidenote: Recently had Rachel mirror. Should've saved it, was hilarious, since we often thought exactly the same. :lol

are you on PSN? I've been trying to get some Rachel mirror matches going because like I said... Hit a ceiling and need some new tactics... aside from some precise timing combos (throws) and the triangle mix up, I feel like I don't have much tactics left. So was wondering if I could get some mirror matches to leech some tactics.

there's a ton of videos out there to learn combos with.

if you see something new that you cant do yet, try to do it. That should always give u something fresh to work on.

playing better and understanding your matchups more come with time tho...
