I really hope the new EU characters will be available as a patch/DLC for the NA version. Still no extra colors for PS3 though eh?

Sometimes you have to lose a certain match, other times you have to get X number of distortion finishes, it's kinda crazy. Depends on the character, I think.

I was looking at some guides, and I think you have to win/lose in every possible scenario. This is going to be a bitch...

It's easy as pie with six saving spaces. You just save before any fight, and lose afterwards. The only one that sounds uncomfortable is the distortion drive requirement for Ragna, and you can still tone the difficulty down to easy if you want.

Wait, what? It will split the online community if there's no DLC for the rest =/

As a Nu player, I feel like all I ever do is lure the enemy out and nail 'em with D while staying far away, and then using C to keep my distance when things get too close. I toss in some specials to mix things up, but that's about it. Honestly, I almost never use A or B.

Am I doing it right? I feel like I'm not, but it's kinda working for me. :lol
A+ job.
Just remember: While they block your beam special, run at them ASAP and go for a throw. If a throw succeeds, spam D immediately.

It's almost too easy for a flowchart.

I would actually try to avoid that. Decent players would know that a throw is coming. I would suggest to try go for a mixup instead.

Seriously, any V-13s that try any of that close quarters crap when I'm vulnerable get wrecked. I don't even see why she is so challenging to most people. I rush in there with Bang, and I win 80% of the time. Rachel, and Arakune are another deal entirely since they have more variety.

Thx for the tips last night. As my avatar suggest, I've settled on my main (for now).

True, Nu does suck close range, but my point was when you're being blocked by her DD and she rushes in, I would do a tick throw, so I'd rather go for high/low mixup to at least have a chance for the DD to continue and start a new combo. If your C attack gets blocked, she can reset pretty well. I would grab, but not all the time.

I wish I had the game for the PS3. You don't see many good V-13s on the 360 that often. I've only played one that had a 90% win rate out of 150 matches, and I still smoked em'.

hello V_Arnold
We are planning to release in Q1 2010. Sincere apologies for keep you waiting that long, but there are lots of texts to localize...
Game will come in Eng, French, Italian, German, and Spanish and will have some small additionals.
More detail later!

regards,
Arc Europe

That's fantastic news - I was more than a little miffed when I learned that the devs had chosen to region lock the 360 version of the game - there's NO need to deny their fanbase like that, in this day and age. I look forward to playing BB very much, but a date closer to other regions would be a lot fairer for any later releases - we are gonna get our arses handed to us on a silver platter, at least for a couple of months.

I haven't met that many good Nus on randoms either, but Tek has a hell of a Nu.

Though I wish I had a 360 so I can play you guys.

I guess it goes both ways :lol

Is it showing that I don't exactly flow like water with V13? :lol Mine is really only great against Arakune, mainly because those fights so often come down to Arakune's torrent of bull**** vs mine.

My Tager murders most Noels I encounter and puts up a good fight against Ragna/Jin, but Hakumen is my favorite by far. SNOWSTORM!

Anyway, it's a good thing I never seem to run into anyone online as good as anyone on GAF. Go figure.

I don't know when or how, but I will get BB for the PS3. That much is for sure. I already double-dipped, and got my friend a copy for his birthday when I got mine. AKSYS ought to be paying me here.:lol

Nu is not so bad anyway. She may be the more rigid of the zone characters, but she at least has a semblance of order about her. I actually appreciate fighting Nu because she doesn't have the kind of protection that Rachel, and Arakune do so it takes some real offensive, and defensive skill to keep up with her. Keep it up with her, and maybe someday I might even get wrecked by a Nu on the PS3 myself.:D

I'm thinking about getting a tournament stick. Not sure if I should get 360 or PS3 version though.

The tourney sticks are pretty good right?

Most of the people I play with in BB who are better than me use sticks. I'm starting to see limitations in the control stick as well. Be prepared to start from scratch one on your fighting games though.

I actually have blaz blue on the 360 but haven't had time to really play it. I'm thinking though of getting the PS3 stick just because my 360 is so unreliable (I'm on my 5th unit), and also because I have a 250 gig drive on the PS3 versus an almost full 20 gig drive on the 360.

I want the stick more for old school arcade titles (Namco's essential museum, q bert, 1942), although I'll certainly get some fighters as well.

I tried to play Blaz Blue abit on the 360 pad but gave up I just coudln't get used to it. I guess I spent too many years playing fighters in the arcades, the pad just seems foreign to me for this type of game.

I spent the first 2 weeks or so fumbling around, and getting whooped because of 360 control. I came out better for it by being patient though. After about 80 matches or so I started to get an idea of what I wanted to do with the control, and it just clicked. I wouldn't advise which system to get the pad for, but the PS3 does sound like a safer choice. I'd just recommend that you give the pad another whirl for a few dozen matches(you can do that in a couple of hours) before giving up on the 360 version.

Good luck with the 360(s) dude.

A and B are your tools for getting out of pressure. My favorite close up combo with Nu is 2A 2A 4B. Those down jabs get your hits in, and 4B is one of her most useful moves. It has surprisingly good range, it hits twice, and the second hit will actually launch the opponent into the air. With the opponent in the air, you can do her really hard hitting air combo.

Bang is one of Nu's harder matchups. Try that with Tager or Hakumen.

I forget, do those numbers correspond with an analog clock or with the buttons on a computer keypad?

This news about new characters for the EU version is distressing...I hope they're not seriously stupid enough to offer different sets of characters in different regions. I've been a huge supporter of BlazBlue to my friends and community, and if ARC Systems and Aksys don't offer these characters to all regions, I'm not going to be able to stand behind their game anymore.

Pretty sure they'll be DLC... hopefully free DLCs, but at least obtainable. Doesn't make sense to seclude people especially since you can go online -- can't you play players in JPN with a US copy?

well they could patch the characters in for free so the games will be compatible, but still not let us use em.

I do, and I did alright. I still have a bit of difficulty with Hakumen, but Tager has gotten much easier as long as I give up burning heart counters. That was back when I was still learning Bang. Tager matches are probably one of my more fun matchups, ask Papercuts.:lol

I'd be seriously annoyed with such a development as well. If they are going to offer new characters they should be free, while non-essentials like backgrounds, costumes, and modes can be charged for.

Wow, I messed around a little with Bang and I quite like his style. I think a little more practice is in order, but he may just become my new main.

What possible reason could they have to make characters exclusive to europe? What could the possibly have to gain by not letting the rest of the world play as these people?

All it would do is destroy online play and make international tournaments pretty fucked up- I'd say the content in the european version is probably the same as what will be in the rumored arcade revision, and will probably be made available in NTSC regions

No way new characters will be exclusive to Europe. They'll end up in an arcade update before that version ever comes out, and as DLC for 360 and PS3. Hope they add Valkenhayn, Hazama/Terumi, and Tsubaki.

Terumi and Tsubaki are a given as the next characters. I think Jubei has a real good chance too. Not so sure about Valeknhayn but they could do it, definitely.

Who is your main? Noel?
You use everyone!

Noel is my main, but the basic combo I've figured out with her is too damaging for me to use her right now. Not much fun, which is why I'm resorting to Score Attack to help me develop her further, instead of spamming one combo.

Then comes Tager, Ragna, Jin, Litchi, Taokaka, Bang, Nu, and Hakumen.

I cannot for the life of me use Carl. ugh

So, no tips on how to face Tager in general as Noel, fellas? He's my chokepoint in Score Attack. I can get past most everyone else easily.

Papercuts

fired zero bullets in the orphanage.
Not really sure, I never had any issues in Score Attack until Unlimited Rachel and more specifically Unlimited Ragna at the end, everything before that seems like a normal fight...though I did use Jin and random stuff the computer wouldn't really block all that well. With Noel maybe jump and do the drive attack above his head and combo from there if you can, or just keep doing that since Tager has terribad antiair.

I have a definite weakness in this game now. I just got my ass kicked in this local tournament and I feel almost cheated.

Does anyone else have a hard time guarding the very top of their head? It seemed like no matter what I did, if I got nicked on the top of the head at all it was going to be unblockable. Not from just overhead attacks but projectiles, normal A attacks, anything...

Is my defense just bad, or is anyone else having issues guarding their dome?

what do you mean? there's no location-based damage in this game. Maybe you're blocking low when you should be standing.

I've been using bang from using litchi. Really different flow of movement. Bangs movements feel more restricted than litchis free flow movements. Now I'm focused on Bang,Litchi and jin mostly. I gave up on taokaka, she's hard to use to be honest and it sucks when you pump out like a 10 move combo and hakumen busts out the same damage with like one slash

Its not overheads, I think that there's an actual blindspot directly over your characters head at times.

Its a split between the would-be-blocked attack in front of you and your wide open backside. I'm really starting to believe that if you land an attack at the perfect point during someone's block its just unblockable. Maybe I'm just tripping after a 0-6 beatdown though...

oh you mean like when Arakune uses his drop moves and it looks like it hits you right on top of your head? it would be a cross-up in that case. the best thing to do when you see those coming is to walk forward.

Finally, after trying to get my grips on both Tao and Noel, I have decided to main Ragna. I still play way too seldomly, though, and I haven't really gotten any better at the game. In other words, I have had it since launch and I still suck. :/

I recently got the SFIV TE Stick, though, so I should really start practicing. Can you motivate me, GAF? :p

Yeah, it's a cross-up. Let's say he's attacking you from the left. Basically what's happening is that he's hitting you just barely onto the right side of your character, so holding right on the stick to block suddenly becomes the wrong direction and you take a hit. If he's hitting you in what looks like the very center of your character from the top, it's pretty much a 50/50 chance of blocking, since if he's spaced it correctly it can be nearly impossible to tell which direction to block in. You just have to choose one and hope you are right.
