Nice. I just preordered the 360 version. Couldn't resist. :D

That's because 360 = hardcore fighting game fan's system. Been that way for DOA4, SF4, Soulcalibur 4 (every major SC4 player is on 360 only) and will be that way for a long time. Expect the 360 to be the system of choice for Tekken 6 too.

No.

For online play. I'm gonna say yes.

Sure there will be a lot of good players on PS3, that's a given. But I know a lot of the top players are planning on playing online on XBL.

I just bought the tournament edition street fighter 4 arcade stick brand new at a gamestop near me in prep for this game. Last one left. Got lucky there.

Lucky. For some reason i felt the need to blow my money on ebay to get one for this game -_-

The bit that makes it especially bad is that its my first stick and i haven't played any fighting game seriously to date.

Then why did you buy the best and most expensive stick first?

So does one play better than the other?

Quick question. I preordered the game from Amazon and chose to go the free shipping route. Should I still expect to receive the game on Tuesday? I'm leaning more towards probably not. :(

Oh yea the voice actress for Noel is hot.

Quick question about the image quality, MM. I remember reading something on SRK about how the game was cropped or something from it's arcade resolution for consoles and caused the console versions to be blurry or slightly out of focus. Was that resolved or corrected?

Also, how do the game's backgrounds look?

I was really tempted by the PS3 version having a Blu Ray with it for the walkthrough/training video but I have a Sanwa'd out SFIV SE for 360 versus a stock FightStick3 for PS3 and decided to finally give that thing a work out by opting for the 360 version.

The estimated date is always much later then when you receive it. I preordered Infamous a week before launch, and even though the estimate was for me to receive it a week after launch, I got it one day post launch via the regular free shipping option.

Receive on Tuesday? No chance. Free shipping means you probably won't see it till the following week. :(

(Unless you have a shipping center close to you and they use that one)

EDIT: Guess I'm just unlucky with it sometimes, being here in the south :lol

Did you look at the estimated Shipping date? Mine says July 6th... meaning its going to take a long while after release sadly.

Gotta realize that in the US the 360 has most of the mindshare when it comes to being the de facto standard for online play. No one is insinuating the PS3 version will be inferior in any way.

I'll have the PS3 version myself because that's where most of my friends are and I built my fight stick for the PS3 but the US has favored the 360 since this generation started. (And no, I'm not trying to open a can of worms here. That's just the way it is.)

So how does this play with a controller? Are the moves impossible like in VF or could I manage it on a PS3 pad?

Would this be good showoff material for a new tv (in addition to being fun)? The colors make it seem so.

It's certainly doable on your Dualshock. You can even use the right stick for specials.

And the game is beautiful, so if you feel the need to show off, you can do much worse than this game.

No way. You'll have no problem picking up on this game. The combos are new comer friendly by far.

Nearly all specials in BlazBlue are of the "fireball" and "shoryuken" variety. No charge moves and no weird inputs. The more advanced techniques require pressing a couple buttons simultaneously, though, so you might have a little trouble doing thinks like rapid cancels (3 buttons simultaneously) but otherwise you should be fine.

Gamersyde has a 720p 60fps video available for download right now, it's in the OP. You could play that on your TV and effectively see what BlazBlue would look like.

This close to pulling the trigger on this ||.

How is arcade mode for starting out. Is it as hard as SF4 was? I never even bothered to try and go online in SF4 because I had so much trouble with the computer even on normal.

One thing I'd like to ask those of you who have already played is whether the training mode goes into at least as much detail as SF4's Trial Challenges. That mode really helped me get started with a few good combos and getting my timing down without the need to look up tips on forums and the like.

I noticed one of the Achievements has to do with training mode, so that's why I ask.

From what I played of training mode, there is nothing like trial challenges. The achievement is for doing 1,000,000 dmg in training mode. At least that is what it says here.

I'm confused...so this: http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?Product_ID=74492

...comes with the art book? it doesn't mention it in the details. And you can only get it if preordering at gamestop.com? I just now realized that the game's initial run is all limited editions for regular retail price...i'm an idiot

That's what I'm wondering too. The artbook, as far as I know, is a preorder bonus and online only. However, the site says nothing about it.

any chance of it going back in stock? i'll probably just go preorder it tomorrow at the brick & mortar store

They probably won't get it back in stock. Some people who even preordered it when it was shown before aren't getting the book.

man im so psyched for this game

can someone describe astral finishing moves? are they like MK fatalities? also how do you do them etc...maybe give one example

the gametrailers gameplay montage linked in the OP has one at the end...looks amazing

I never got into the Guilty Gear -train - my friends were hardcore enthusiasts and I just didn't stand a chance against them, and as such I quit before I really even began. Not so with BlazBlue, as I pre-ordered the Limited Edition ( for PS3 ), and yes, I am prepared to practice like crazy this time around. :)

opponent has to be below 20% hp in the last round of the match. 100% heat. I forget I think Noel's astral is charge down, tap C three times and then up and C at the same time.

Can Astral Finishes be comboed into, unlike GG's instant kills? I'd hope so sine the requirements on them seem steep.

definitely some steep requirements...mainly the 100% heat thing (unless 100% heat isn't that uncommon or hard to get?)

It's not a fatality. Basically, whenever your opponent is at less than 20% health on the last round of the match, you can essentially do a move that will effectively kill your opponent, to the point of overkill. It's not quite the "bragging" a fatality is, but almost. Over twice as flashy though!

can you get out of it once it's done to you or is it automatic kill?
