man im so psyched for this game

can someone describe astral finishing moves? are they like MK fatalities? also how do you do them etc...maybe give one example

the gametrailers gameplay montage linked in the OP has one at the end...looks amazing

The conditions are
*final round of the match
*oponent has less than 20% of life left
*you have 100% heat gauge (super meter)

And THEN you have to set them up. I haven't fully read up since I don't want to spoil myself but I know Rachel's:

Have some wind stocks left, get oponent into corner and get him into fog block stun, start Astral. Use the wind after blockstun has ended to keep him in the area of effect. Oh yeah, he can burst in the last moment too, so he also needs to already have used that.

I don't know about others, I think you can actually set them all up in some way but it's in no way easy. Plus having 100% heat is rare, you normally use it to counter-assault or super. That's the reason you don't see it in a serious environment but if you are playing casuals, if you can get one in, loud cheering will be assured from the crowd :D

Wow, i'll probably never do one unless the guy puts down the controller to answer his cell or something

It's not that bad... if you are Rachel you will get used to find people in that situation. But it's awfully specific and whiffing costs such a huge amount of meter for 0 damage.
Oh, and from that post on SRK, some people got it much more easy. Like Noel's will combo cleany from D>forward+C. But then, have fun hitting people with a neutral D just when you want it :p

So they can just dodge or block it like SF4 ultra....that seems near impossible then. All the stars would have to be perfectly aligned. Imo, if u meet all the reqs and actually pull one off, it should automatically hit the opponent...maybe that would be broken tho

Guity gear had instant kills with very little requirement and they weren't broken. Could do it at the start of the match if you wanted. But they're impossible to combo into, and unless your opponent was just retarded you'd never hit them with it. Oh and if you missed/blocked, your special meter was gone for the match.

It would be hard getting a actual player in one. The only time I've ever been able to use it is when I caught the computer in it. The ones I've seen are rather slow and you can see them coming from a mile away.

Oh no, it's unblockable.
A huge field spreads out around her and when at full size, will hit anyone in the zone. The trick is to have people be in there when that happens. I'll have to check if people have to be on the ground or not but from my limited research, it hits airborne people too.

Ordered the game from Videogamesplus.ca yesterday and noticed they're fresh out of copies by now. Does that mean there's a small chance I won't get mine? The order status is still pending.

That's completely different for each. I think Nu's is a grab, which you can't block but dodge. Rachel's is an area effect with almost 2 seconds setup so you just have to get out (hence the small setup tutorial). Nu's is a regular move, blockable and dodgeable but can be comboed into.

Once I get the game I'll do some serious research but generally it's simply like hitting with various different special moves. Which kill and look awesome. And no word about them, I don't wanna spoil myself >.<

Got my copy pre-ordered with the free overnight shipping deal at Gamestop. Just picked up a pair of 360 Fightpads last week and been practicing on SFIV and Soul Calibur IV with him (god damn, the pads are such a relief from the standard pad).

Here's a totally fluff question: anyone know if the console version has a stage for every character? I miss the days when fighting games gave each character their own locality and flavor. I'm looking forward to checking out the soundtrack and also wondering if every character has their own theme.

Every character has their own theme, and there are even a few themes for specific matchups (like Ragna vs Jin and mirror matches). Ragna and Bang both have 2 themes, although their extra theme is for just certain circumstances.

Pretty sure every character has their own stage, but I'm not 100% sure.

Yup, each character has their own theme and background. Just like Guilty Gear, certain matches also have different themes.

Thanks guys - I approve of this news. But then, I guess that's the advantage of having a relatively small cast.

(Still, considering how elaborate the backgrounds are, I wasn't totally sure what to expect.)

One thing I really liked about the Guilty Gear X games even though it is completely not gameplay-related was the attention to detail and it sounds like BlazBlue is following suit even though I haven't played it yet. Like how in Guilty Gear XX Arcade Mode every character had a unique win quote depending on who they beat, the number of stages, music, match specific entrance animations, the multipath storymode, etc. They went the extra mile.

Can't wait to play BlazBlue if its anything like that.

I agree, that's the beauty of Arc System Works games -- they always go the extra mile. From 24 different colors in GGXX:AC+, to the specific intros, win taunts, and music in Hokuto no Ken....I really hope BlazBlue retains the love.

Edit: even in GG, every character had different voice tracks.

Not only do the characters in BlazBlue have specific win quotes based on who they beat, they also say different things in battle depending on who they're fighting.

Yeah, this is pretty crazy! It makes me want to play the game with English voices so I can catch everything being said.

Still haven't heard Litchi's "My breasts are not meat buns!" comment again since the first time I played though. I want to know if that line is in the English voice track or not! :lol

I'm getting worried/mad with/at Gamestop. It's been "verifying" for the past week and they've charged me and the payment cleared already so I'm wondering what the hell it is they're verifying. -_- If I don't get my Art book I'm going to slap somebody. I pre-ordered the day I found out there was an art book :(

I'm a huge GG nerd, HUGE...and to tell you the truth, I was a little bit worried about Blazblue. You know, being the first game of the franchise and all that, I didn't expect the game to be at GG level at all.

But now, after playing the game for 6 hours, I can honestly say that this is probably the most amazing fighter the company ever did and has potential of becoming the best fighting franchise ever.

Each character has so much depth gameplay wise it's not funny. I literally spent 4 hours in training mode to just grasp a basic idea of how a character should play. And then, when I picked another character, I was like "WTF is this?". It literally feels like every time you pick a different character, you're playing a totally different game every time.

Graphics are amazing. BB has the most amazing and detailed backgrounds in any fighter, period. And the blend between 3D backgrounds and 2D characters is amazingly done. They don't feel out of place at all, like say Marvel Vs Capcom 2, where you could noticed the contrast between the background and the characters.

BB is also full of unecessary goodies, like Litch's tips, story mode with different paths, 3 vocal songs, 12 colors for each characters (great color palletes btw) and some others that I haven't seen yet.

And don't get me started with the Netcode. I have a freaking 512k connection and I was able to play a few matches with japanese people lagfree. Lag-fucking-free!!! It's amazing.

As I said before, Blazblue has he potential of becoming the best fighting game franchise ever and Arc did an amazing job for this first game. No one will be disappointed.

The more I hear about BlazBlue the better it gets. The only thing I don't like about it compared to Guilty Gear XX are the character designs, but that's just a personal opinion and not a big deal. I'm just a huge fan of Guilty Gear's crazy character designs.

I live in California and I am wondering if Blazblue will be available in store. I checked most places like Bestbuy and Gamestop but none has in store pick up so far. I do not want to pre-order online because many of the packages I ordered in the past have been missing.

The special edition, maybe. But not the normal game.
It will over time.

L.E. is not going to be hard to get for a while. But I feel it's going have the same slope as lets say Digital Devil Saga 2. Were for 2 years...No one was buying it. It came out after DDS1 and SMTIII became the harder ones too get. And most were ignoring DDSII. And the price DDSII was going for just a month or so ago(Before the recent reprint) was 60$+ min, 90 for a new copy(Game came out for 30$).

It's one of those quality games that are going come in Oversaturated. But continually and slowly grow interest.

Probably in a month or so, You'll be able to get the LE for under 50. I don't really see it being rare since it's all they are publishing. But...you never know.:lol
