The BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger Official Thread [360/PS3] - Be Ready for the Rebel

"No, Arakune is a fucking horribly imbalanced character. HORRIBLY IMBALANCED. I actually hung out with HeartNana last night and we were talking about that, and he agrees, that character is flat out broken, and is going to get nerfed HARD when they release a revision. Either that or everyone is going to get souped up so much that Arakune's brokenness will mean nothing."

See, people talk shit on Nu, but Arakune is where people should be focusing their rage. Nu is manageable, Arakune is LOL.

Finally tried some ranked matches tonight, played 6 games, and five of them were against Ragnas....erg.

Why's is take so long to find a damn ranked game? I'd have to refresh like 15 times before it would find someone!

My problem with Arakune isn't even his LOL SHENANIGANS but he has this one like, 4 hit combo that does WAY too much damage and it juggles so he can hit you into a curse with it.

Holy crap I suck. I didn't know that. I guess that's no excuse when I lose again.

how do you throw a kaka? does it do more damage?

oh btw:

Just keep on doing QCB+A, B, or C with Taokaka and it eventually comes out. I got lucky because it came right out on my 3rd toss.

I was making avatars for BB characters but since I can't use them all, I'll put them here. If you use one, put it in your photobucket because I'll delete them soon.

Go play against JPN players in ranked if you don't think his shenanigans are not that bad. :p

Man, I really like "Oriental Flower" (bias maybe). I hope they do a CD like Guilty Gear's sound alive. The live concert of this soundtrack would rock.

Rachel owns my soul (noob Arakune player) also curse tactics don't seem to work as well against Nu and Rachel you actually have to chase them down rather curse setup tactics. A decent Rachel scares me more then anything though.

Oh, bitch bitch bitch.
I like Queen of Rose (especially the beginning), Susanooh, White Requiem, and Bullet Dance.

And Motorhead.

Why did they put the ps3 version of tutorial video on bluray? Now theres no way to watch it on your computer if you dont have a bluray player! What was the point of putting on bluray if the video quality are the same.

I haven't touched BlazBlue since Friday night. Had a blast with it the first few days. Horrible timing on my part to jump into fighting games again. Pick up SFIV then a week after this comes out. Whew. I'll just suck at both.

Anyways...I noticed in some matches I had against Taokaka, she would do an attack that almost looked like she was just slapping her two paws together over and over again. I could not get out of that damned attack for quite some time. I remember on Friday going into training trying to figure out that move. Anyone know?

Bang forever. For love and justice.

I played against a Rachel for the first time ever in a Ranked match and got Perfect'd.

As soon as I took a swing I was flying across the screen into lightning rod Armageddon.

Crap. I always pick my characters based on how they appeal to me as a character, not by how good or bad they are. Arakune appealed to me most, so I was gonna use him. Looks like I'm gonna be taking some crap just for that. Oh well, I'm staying with my character pick phiosophy. My choices are almost always on the weaker side, and I probably deserve a shot at a better character after playing Guile almost exclusively in SFIV.

who on earth is heart nana...but okay, at the moderate noob level that most people play at on XBL, there's nothing that other moderate noobs can't handle. I dunno, I don't play tournament level players exclusively- I avoid them ;)

The "slashy slashy" moves, if you're out of boost (or w/e it's called in BB), have a second in between them where you can pop out a poke or some other quick move...it takes some timing. Otherwise, just do Faultless Defense (or w/e its called in BB), which knocks Tao back a bit and allows you to escape.

i felt like people were saying this game is was easier than SF4 mechanics wise, but I think its way harder. I've only played with Ragna, but pulling off the combos off of the training video is balls hard, and aren't those supposed to be the bread and butter combos??

I find landing 3-6+ hitters is pretty easy with Ragna, especially considering his D combos that send the opponents into the air. It can be fairly easy to get a juggle on if you pin someone in a corner and manage your own dashing/jumping properly -- you still need to make sure they don't air roll out of your range though.

I haven't even attempted to learn those combos yet though.

yeah, 6-8 combos pretty easy, but the ones off the video are all like 12+

One of three Americans who qualified for Tougeki, the Japanese national tournament... and the only American to qualify in Japan, where the competition is about 100x more talented than what's in the US right now.

Just came home from a all-night blazblue sesh. the game is legit.

my friend was holding it down as V-13, no one could stop him. My Iron Tager put a quick, pile-driving stop to his shenanigans.

I may have to re-up my xbox live account for this though. I know the multiplayer options are crazy, but hows the net-code?

The net-code is excellent. There is some stuttering during the stage/character intros but it always smooths right out when the match is about to begin.

I have only noticed lag in exactly one match, which "froze" for a while a couple of times, but that was the exception not the rule. Otherwise it's been flawless.

Those player matches look like fun, I have yet to even do any, just chipping away at the story with some practice and occasional ranked matches. If the story has told me anything, it's that Bang makes everything awesome. His story, the branch for Taokaka and Tager's story, and his part in Teach Me, Ms. Litchi all support this! I've been trying to use him in training but don't feel that comfortable to bring him online yet, I also try and do the Fu Rin Ka Zan every round even if I don't do much with it.

Agreed on the love and possible bias, but it does remind me of Jam's theme in GGX. I also like Reppu/Gate. I guess I like the eastern flavored ones XD

okay, whats everyone's thoughts on Carl and Rachel, respectively?

Would it at all be possible to use them competitively? Both of their playstyles require a lot of setting up, and can be punished easily. Rachel seems to have a little more breathing room using projectiles to keep her opponents at bay.. but Carl may be a lost cause for me. Once someone is in my face, I have recall Nirvana and turtle for the rest of the match.

Rachel is top tier. Carl is low mid.

rachel is awesome, carl is a little twerp. You can use rachel and be competitive, you just have to learn her basic strategies and make them second nature. and get good at blocking then running away. i've played some really strong rachels in ranked.

Yeah, Rachel is top tier along with Arakune and Nu. But anyway not to repeat what's been echoed, onward to Carl. He has a high as hell learning curve if anything, Having to deal with Nirvana is like controlling 2 people @ once. Oh and if for any reason you look into competitive play, I believe that claptrap is banned. At least I know for SBO that gets you banned for life :lol

haha would have never guessed rachel was top-tier. I'll have to give her some more attention. thanks for the quick replies.

I guess since I play Rachel I've never found Arakune that big of a deal, at least not in an overpowered sense. Nu annoys me a little more, though Rachel outranges her, albeit with Silpheed. I don't fight either of them that often though so not that big of a deal, to be honest.
