- John about Final Fantasy VII Rebirth: I famously tweeted about it being a huge leap, and it was actually even larger than I anticipated. It genuinely is game changing.

- GT7 better in person than first impressions, replays with RT from 30fps, and in some instances below, to full 60fps.

- PS5 Pro unit in person looks better than base model.

- Alex Battaglia agrees PS5 Pro would provide the best place to play games with PC ports suffering from stuttering issues, "But it is expensive".

Goes on to say, about those PC ports: It would be great if there was more audience anger.

And in response to John saying: "We don't need more anger today, Alex", he adds: Consumers could make it really well known that is not acceptable to release PC games the way that they are released.

PS4 Pro was needed because PS4 looked bad on 4k tvs, that was the logic for this console to exist. There is nothing like that now and I think that's why there were surprised by the rumors (most of gaf was as well).

Looking at abysmal image quality of some games - of course better hardware was needed. But those games also shouldn't be released in state like that in the first place, no one at development studios should say "yeah FSR2 720p to 4k - looks great!".

What do you mean here exactly?

I don't watch DF to much but yea I do feel John is the least biased of them all. He states his opinion and clearly has no issues changing it if he's shown different.

I think everyone agrees with that but the reality is games will continue to be released like that and that's just the reality we live in. It's just like Alex saying how instead of buying a PS5 pro for bad PC ports we should all just get on twitter and say "this isn't acceptable". Nothing will change doing that. PC ports will still be bad every now and then it just happens.

Bringing upscaling tech like DLSS to consoles is why this is needed.

I would have to look at the wording on my other PC but have said many times here I have receipts (and previously shared with mods here) of Xbox brass targeting DF years ago giving them special access on previous consoles for positive affinity towards Xbox

They knew they could only target Richard that John was more of a Playstation guy at heart

It was 100% a we throw you money you shine us in the best light possible relationship.

Yea it's like I've been saying from the beginning video don't do things like this justice and I noticed this all the way back when BF4 was released. It looked ok when I saw the youtube trailer and then when I actually played the game it looked incredible. I realized after that, that I couldn't trust youtube for a true understanding of how good the game will look.

I find them both to be unbiased. John just likes games and is very positive when the game deserves praise. Alex is a PCMR and Rich still didn't recover from his 12 TFLOPs debacle.

John was always pro PlayStation, since I remember - even anti Xbox many times (and MS around Xbox one times was just so fucking stupid...).

It only shows that they are humans, each one of them with their own preferences and biases.

PSSR is a needed change and the best thing about the console. What this console needs now is developers support, looking at PS4 Pro and Xbox OX - developers sometimes just don't give a fuck (and that's why we have terrible image quality in games in the first place).

Sure but I think off the bat we are already seeing good support for it (IMO). On top of that any games with unlocked framerate\resolutions will automatically get a boost.

John is a SEGA fan.

In general, a real videogame enthusiast with a probably unmatched videogames history culture.
He simply, notoriously, isn't a fan of some of the things Microsoft brought to gaming, and some of its most vicious supporters.

First wave of games around hardware launch when there is the biggest interest. What's important is what will happen later, there are games on PS4 and Pro that are THE SAME despite 2x better GPU on Pro.

And yeah, unlocked resolutions and framerates were very future proof sometimes, many games will get boost just from that (like Killzone SF running 60fps on PS5 without any patch).

He's apparently one of the few who actually really cares about PC gaming and wants it to be perfect, instead of pretending in front of others there are no issues just to feed into some sort of superiority complex. Something many PCMR types unfortunately suffer from.

Yeah, we get it. Ff7 looks much better, I've been Reading the same thing for a good 2 weeks. Now what about all the other games, especially those which look trash in perf mode? (Looking at you Alan wake 2)

I bought rebirth on Day one with the FF7 remake double pack just to have both digitally. I own FF7 intergrade physically (one of the last physical games I bought)

Never even played rebirth in anticipation for the Pro and am very glad I did. Jumping straight in in a few weeks. Looks great and GT7. Well worth it to me and get to gift a PS5 to my younger brother to spread the gaming karma.
