Hmm, I played more recently than 8 hours ago but anyway.....almost 60 hours

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Oh yep, damn sure does. Says 38 hours - now whether or not that includes time spent on the ESC menu would be my only reservation as when I leave the game running it's on that menu. I'll test later.

The app tells you total time spent even in the main menus when you boot the game.

The save file will only tell you the time you've spent playing that save file, not adding any time you might have incurred reloading etc.

The app is generally like a system-level count of total time.

Cool technique I've learned. I have two pretty kickass rifles, one in each loadout slot.

Takes a couple of seconds to reload though so got this perk that makes changing loadouts fast and automatically reloads the inactive loadout. So I'm getting at least two shots off really quickly by switching before I have to reload manually.

Mage or whatever quest in the third area is very good. Loads of mobs, great platforming and traversal, really makes the games good side shine. Entire third area has been pretty good actually, even the side quests.

I think I am almost in the end now. At this point I am still loving the gameplay but the narrative and characters personalities are starting to become a chore for me. I am exhausted of bumping into the same situations where woman have a nasty attitude and scream at men, it happens so often that is making me feel angry at the writers. Dont they have a little bit more of imagination or creativity? Characters personalities are so one dimensional, there is no middle ground. They show their cards immediately during conversations and there is no subtleness at all. Is such a shame because this is a great game but the writing kinda ruin it at times.

Yep, sadly though the in game timer still counts time on the ESC save/load menu, so it's still not accurate for my playtime and is inflated some since I left it paused there for hours at a time. Ah well, still in the ballpark. Regardless, I've put quite a lot of hours in and only through zone 2. It's a pretty sizable game.

It says days where mine says hours?

edit: I misread what was being talked about, sorry.

The phone app, which I'm assuming is being talked about, rolls over to 'days' after 24 hours. The PC app seems to retain the hours count.

Odd, but eh.

Just completed the game at about 65 hours played and 750/1000 gamer score. I really enjoyed my time with it. 8.5/10 kind of game for me, and if this game comes out 15 years ago, I think it gets an all-timer sequel. We're in a different age, now, so I guess we'll see what happens. My feelings really didn't change at about the halfway point of the game, because I think the game's issues are pretty obvious early on. That said, I did enjoy the exploration, the combat, and the companions. The choices at the end of the game were also pretty cool. Overall, I think Obsidian should feel good about the released product, but I hope they do some major updates and add DLC down the road. I want to go back to the game for sure.

Beat the game yesterday, never Imagined I’ll get this invested. Coming to terms with somewhat insufferable narrative, the game is full of simply great design ideas like how it’s impossible to grind with no enemy respawn and hitting level cap gives you only 30 skill points. So you never just max out the whole character and at end game it still is a very specific build you can respec cheap to hearts content. Shame no free roam/cleanup option past the point of no return, and while I have no plans to replay - Avowed is a big time positive surprise from a game I wasn’t planning to play at all and I wouldn’t if it wasn't on Gamepass. Thanks Phil. 7.5/10

I think a playable epilogue to see your how your choices affect the world would be cool, but that's a lot of work.

I guess that at your age being able to shot your rifle twice in a row is an incredible achievement.

Women often have a position of power too.
But there was at least one scenario that was a bit different early on. I met two women that were arguing back and forth. Rambling. Very annoying to listen to. And the devs apparently thought so too because I kept them going for awhile and then I ended up with the conversation choice to just say ”Shut up!” and they silenced and looked surprised, then there was a choice to say ”Ok speak now” and they started speaking more coherently. Satisfying! 😜

Yea I respec'd yesterday to go get that skill and ditch anything wizard on the side for now. Ranger skill tree is way more important for gun build than having a grimoire in offhand. (at my level)

I do dual guns swap to arguebuse, shot, reload, shot, switch to dual guns, etc. Swapping between loadouts constantly, increases DPS a shitload. I've went from struggling in 2nd area to a monster chasing down enemies like Doom slayer.

Are there bears in areas after the first area? I can’t remember seeing any in two or three but I could be wrong. Trying to get the bear vs bear achievement and I guess I slaughtered all of them in area one, there aren’t any more.

Completely agree with Cohn. There's a lot of "it would have been nice to have" and for sure material to improve for sequels but all those video comparisons are just purely hypocritical when they've left alone a ton of other RPGs to such comparisons for the longest time.

Just a load of worthless budget inflating features. I don't need any other game to try and do persistant objects like Bethesda. It's not worth investing in that just so you can stack some cheese or put a vase over someones head. Whoopty fucking do.

Exactly. Its a nice adder, but nobody cared for these systems in Starfield, nobody.

Neat, but completely useless. Am I gonna go out of my way to accumulate a ton of fucking shit like pens, forks, trophies, weights, cheese, potatoes and manage this bloat in my inventory but to also place it in a world? I don't have time for that.

Without accounting for the high amount of jank creation engine adds by having these features.

End of Zone 2 spoilers:

I came across the captain of the Steel Garrote barring my way and she was giving me some information, but not much really.. gave me a missive to give to someone, but toward the end of the conversation I had the option to attack.. and while I've maintained neutrality for the most part with them so far, I felt like burning the town was a bit much, so I decided to kill them all. Fun fight, took me 3 tries, was kind of surprised I can just murder the captain right now and wonder what exactly that means.. still not sure if I should stick with this or not, but probably will just stick with it and move on. Interesting stuff! Now finally to zone 3.

I decided to give this another crack on the S last night. I'm still on that prologue island and while the performance is pretty meh, I already find myself enjoying what it is so far. Combat is definitely an improvement over Outer Worlds (Im still using the dual daggers and recently picked up a bow).

Writing aside, one thing Obsidian is pretty stellar at is their world design. It's fun to just BE in these worlds, walking around looking for stuff. I very much appreciate how lootable items are highlighted and even smashable objects are marked so you're not wasting time looking at every inch of scenery for goodies. I see they also did a lower grade type of FF16's Active Time Lore when dialogue exchanges are happening, which is super cool to finally see someone else doing.

I've already decided I'm gonna roll with being a pistolero and overall gunslinger. Only use one loadout so I dont need to worry about upgrading a bunch of shit since I know certain mats can be hard to come by.

And I'm just going to be a total asshole. Just negative responses to everyone. I dont care if my party ditches me. Everyone in this world can eat my ass.

I did the exact same respec a couple of days ago. Not enough points to go around to really have a true hybrid character.

You didn't like the Game of Thrones style ending? I thought it ended up being kind of cool.

No.....I liked it. When I mean it is a "slog", I'm referring to the number of enemies they throw at you. It was fine.

So the play here is to
  • Sell any loot you don't want
  • Break down anything you've upgraded (or uniques) for mats
Kai is a massive weapon, hate the prick. Marius is stoic and miserable but would rather have a sausage on a campfire with him.

I'm about to hit level 11 and haven't even scratched the surface on some of these abilities. That's my one gripe so far, feels like the game is built round NG+

The max level is 30. I finished the game at 27 and I still had a ton of stuff available in the ranger class that I wouldn't be able to use. So unless they raise the cap, NG+ isn't going to do much good as far as that's concern.

I onestly sold only the gems and dismantled everything else and just found the money during exploration.

I always have between 10.000 and 30.000 dollars, not enough to buy legendary equip in the last zone but enough for almost everything else.

I spent my remaining coin in the last area on upgrading supplies. Went through the game not buying a single weapon or piece of armor from any vendor. That part of the game is entirely broken.

There are additional skill points you can get from certain encounters, like the encounter with the godlike at the end of Act 2 if you reject the power offered to you, instead you get skill point (s?). Not sure if there are more such cases in the game, though you may already know this. Not sure how much it helps in the long run but felt like a huge boost since points are actually limited in this game. I love it honestly, but also only level 12 or whatever. Crazzzzy how far and fast you vaulted ahead of me in terms of progress and levels!

I was off work the last few days so had lots of time. lol

Damn....I didn't realize you could get points instead of the godlike powers. Oh well. I would have rather done that, frankly, as the "godlike" powers ain't all that godlike to me. Still don't think there were enough points to go around though.
