Avowed |OT| Is an oath worth the weight of a crown?

I do feel like they did not get the difficutly quite right. Playing on Path of the Damned since very early on and while the first zone was pretty challenging until the very end, the second zone is not so it seems. When I first arrived, it was and many quests marked 3 skulls, but after doing just a couple of them, all the skull ratings are gone, the main story quest is down to 1 skull, and I feel like I'm tearing through everything. Otherwise, things going well.
eh dunno. I rolled through first zone pretty easy. made it to 2nd zone and one of my first quests I tried to do was The Trentons bounty and I got absolutely destroyed. it was comical.

I'm level 9. using fine quality 0/3 weapons, common quality 2/3 armor (can't decide if I like Arcanist Gambeson or Stelgaer's Pride better)

right now MSQ is 3 skull, as is side quests and every single bounty except farm xaurips

When I first arrived at zone 2 I was level 9 (or on the cusp, can't remember, it's a couple pages back in this thread though I think) and it was challenging. But now I'm level 11 and mowing down everything I find here, including bounty, but I have not tried them all nor that one yet. Just kind of meandering where the sidequests take me so far, but about to tackle the main story for a gear shift I think. I didn't really mess with the upgrading until I got here, that could be part of it, because I maxed out everything I could some time ago, but I'm sure I could upgrade even farther by now. Path of the Damned was way harder in PoE and PoE II. Either way, not hurting my enjoyment yet.

Seems like the "Beldarrenno" bounty is bugged.. maybe? I defeated it, all the enemies in the lair, but there's nothing to pick up and that's where the quest is stuck. No corpses on compass, going near where the corpse is offers nothing to pick up.. area is highlighted on the map, but can't find anything. Anyone else have this issue or is there something I'm missing?

Edit: I even tried reloading, fighting the whole group again, but nothing on any corpses.. anyone else have trouble? Maybe for now I will reload before the fight and just leave it alone.. First bug of sorts I've really encountered.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Upgraded sword to 3/3 fine

Are there unique spell books? I’ve been using grimoire of greater elements since level 5

Yeah, there's all kinds of exceptional, superb etc grimoire's later too.

Reached zone 4. I like that pretty much all the Zones start looking normal, but when you go in a few hundred meters, all the weird fungal growth starts appearing more and more everywhere. The scourge really is taking over the entire world slowly.

Still haven't found an unique arquebus yet in 2nd area and I think I'm pretty far?

Are they all on the 3rd map?

Also holy shit the 2nd map is big. Is 3rd area smaller?

I'm pretty sure I got one in the second zone, but I could be mistaken.. will check when I open game again.

Edit: Either I put it in the stash or confused it with the unique 2 handed sword I recently picked up, so not sure!

Strange. I definitely must have picked the loot because I completed all bounties of 2nd area today

You see his pile of rubbles after killing him but no orange glow?

I've been doing all the bounties in every region so far and haven't run into any blockers like this. Very weird.

Are you on console or PC?

47 hours so far

Took this shot earlier today. Like something from the cover of a fantasy novel. Beautiful

I was debating posting the same screen earlier tonight lol, you've gained a lot of ground. Close to the end of the narrative arc in area 3.

One thing I dont like about Avowed is how women roast men constantly for their presumably incompetence. It's baffling that they keep doing the same thing over and over throughout the game with multiple characters.

It really breaks the immersion when it comes to the narrative, Obsidian needs to hire better writers for their next games
The game is fantasy TOW in term of writing.

Double guns are pretty cool. Using Caerocs Pride and The Disappointer. I bought The Disappointer while not seeing the -10 % damage debuff, but one of the enchantments you can get for it replaces that debuff with a +10 damage boost. So not so disappointing anymore. The enchantments is also called Tender Love and Care, lol.
I was using the same setup of guns and breaking the game, then i forged the slow rifle with the starmetal in the last area and...oh boy :messenger_sunglasses:

I have high dexterity and 2 piece of armour and each piece gave me 15% reload speed, so both the guns and rifle shot and reload super fast.

What do you mean by fantasy TOW papi?

Fantasy the other worlds, that one was space stuff, this one is fantasy, but the they have the same type of dynamics between women and man and instead of shitting on capitalism they shit on colonialism.

Yeah right. The writing is very similar. To be honest I tried The Outer Worlds like 3 different times and I always give up when reaching the space station after leaving the first planet. The gameplay is so boring and the maps feel tiny. At least this one is much better in terms of exploration and combat. But yeah the writing is just not great, its not bad either but just average I would say. Baldurs Gate, Witcher or KCD are on another level compared to this

Hmm, I would have suggested reloading old saves but it looks like you've already tried that too.

Have you tried doing like a 'verify file integrity' thing, maybe that might help? Sorry, not able to help much in PC matters.

Story starting to get good too

Oh yeah, the end of zone quests have been great for the second and third zones.

Have you finished Zone 3?

Only open if you have:

What did you choose to do with the ruins, destroy or sever Adra?

I chose to destroy the ruins even though I have been against the inquisitor in most decisions. The mage's "a random number of people will die" thing was completely uncertain, at least with the inquisitor's method, the people have a fighting change and hopefully I would have cured the scourge soon in the story after that.

Some pics from SX Balanced mode.

I love the splash of colors in the scenery and how distinct a zone can look from one corner to the other depending on how severe the scourge has been in that area.

Fuck yes, you can.

Not my style but it looks pretty dope.

Ugh I wish I didn't have a Series S for this. I'd totally play that way.

The arrival of this and Indiana Jones on the 5 is painful as all hell. I'm looking more forward to Xbox games coming to that system than its own games. Phil keeps winning.

Ohh man.. had no idea you could fail sidequests due to not taking care of them before some events.. hell. Hopefully didn't miss anything too important. The more I play this, the more I want to go through again on another class/build and make different choices on a second playthrough.
I found it really brutal, maybe the game should even tell you that you’re going to reach a turning point. But it’s a great way to give weight and actual consequences to your actions.

Damn it man.. but you know, that makes some sense.

I was wondering why the main quest for Act 2 seemed so spread out - they force you to go in different directions on the map before you recruit Giatta, which I thought was weird. In retrospect, it makes perfect sense because they want to encourage you to explore, do side quests, etc before cutting you off from them when the main story progresses.

LOL though, right next to the burning town, Captain Trevik is hanging out by a campfire, I didn't encounter him before, but talking to him now he does not acknowledge the town on fire or anything, just glad to see me and very jovial.

I finally found an upgrade to my wizard robes that I've been wearing since act 2. They're a unique set of wizard-related kit being sold on a vendor who is out in the middle of nowhere in act 4.

Unfortunately they cost ~$85k! Started hoarding weapons that I find to sell to merchants instead of breaking them down and saved the money up pretty quickly, but still that's expensive.

Ugh, decisions decisions...

Not sure whether to send the refugees to Paradis or Third Born.. I feel like there will be some kind of consequences as a result of this. Part of me is inclined to send them to Paradis to "keep an eye on the Aedryns", but at the same time, hard to take any suggestion the governor gives seriously.. and allowing them to continue practicing animancy in Third Born makes more sense, but not sure what good them practicing was doing to begin with, since they didn't seem to be accomplishing much. Things are certainly heating up in Avowed, both literally and figuratively.

I swear the dwarf must be one the most annoying companion in any rpg ever, in comparison even horny pink furry is not that bad, but you need him in the team for the vital loot sonar skill...

But why? Outside the ring quest in shantytown, does he find more things than chests afterwards that don’t make the loot chime? I want to get rid of him asap as I never find anything with his sonar

Why? Because you can spam his ability and it make chewts shine through roofs or underground or underwater, it's a 360° sonar, i would have missed hundreds of loot pieces without it.

I spam that shit ever 10 steps because loot is literally all around you, or you can just wait until you hear the loot sound effect.

If this game wasn't so reliant on upgrading weapon to do some damage i would not bring him with me, but since mats for upgrades are super important, you don't wanna miss anything.

I wish the ability was in the upgrade tree. It feels like I'm pretty much forced to hang with Marius and Yatzli starting at the halfway point of the game. I do like both characters, though. Marius got way more interesting toward the end of the game.

Ok but he never finds invisible loot like the shantytown ring right?

I think I’ll part ways with him then. I already have OCD of exploring everywhere

The art style/design is great so its a shame, but ive tried Universal Unreal Engine 5 Unlocker and it works pretty well.
First town is fantastic

Never heard of this tool, seems useful! Will be checking it out.

I'm sure they will patch in a photo mode, but not sure why it wasn't included to start - can't imagine there are a lot of resources to enable something like that. Simple as pausing environment and toggling off UI for the most part, at least in terms of rudimentary functionality.

Don't know why people hate the Dwarf so much, he seems okay to me.

I’m going to do another play through on the hardest setting and I want to try and side with the bad guys at all times and see what happens. Turn everyone doing bad things in.

Pink furry is ok other than the grating voice acting, but the dfarf is insufferable, he always cry for something or he is scared to enter a place because he doesn't like dealing with soul or god stuff, well news flash you moron, the whole mission is about dealing with souls stuff and gods...

I know he must had some traumatic problem in the past from how he is acting in the last map but the dude was absolutely unbereable for the whole game, like shut the fuck up dude.

Dude only capability is to say bleste every 3 words, fuck him.

No he only highlight chests and bodies, but if you have ocd you should bring him, he cut a lot of research time, and even if you see the loot blink you still have to know how to reach it so it's not like he erase the sense of exploration, you can use it more like a safe check before leaving a zone to see if you picked up everything.
