Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
When I think "worst FPS game this gen" I think of rich, pure shit like Duke Nukem Forever. Or, relative to budget, production values and hype, something like Killzone 2.

It has its share of problems, some quite large, but I most definitely do not think of Crysis 2.

Maybe I went overboard since I've only played Crysis 2 on a console. But man, that experience wasn't pretty. Dull graphics, low-res, dumb AI, enemies got like sniper rifles with 100% accuracy, story was a disaster, tried different paths and abilities but enemies still do the same shit. Guns wasn't fun to use as well. Can't believe I managed to finish the game. Maybe because I paid full price for that.

But to each his own I guess.

DNF was definitely the worst for me.

Crysis 2 was buggy with a few annoying design choices but it's still a good game that can have some really great moments.

I honestly can't think of any shooters this gen where it didn't feel like all of the enemies had olympic sharpshooter level aiming skills.

More like Crysis makes me happy...Crysis 2 felt like a regression, ultimately left me fairly indifferent. They should make Psycho the protag rather than profit.....What the hell happened to Nomad anyway...? Not sure at all why they have been going with Prophet

Until devs really work on how ai shoots doubt this will change its been like this for decades. I wouldn't even mind this issue if where the enemy hits was realistic but when all of them are head or neck shotting you to death it just becomes pointless.

Are Prophet and Psycho really the main characters? How is this supposed to make sense? Prophet shot himself in the head and turned into the ghost suit and both he and Psycho would be in their 50's by the time this game takes place.

Pretty much the same on PC, minus the graphics of course.

Gun play and suit micro management was so much better in the first game.

That's where the alien technology in the suits become quite useful.

Why are they porting these games to PS3 or X360?

They can't get them to run at a stable frame rate with decent AA.

Crysis 2 looks terrible on PS3 and 360.

And they release bull-shots.

They don't look terrible on Ps3 and 360. framerate wasn't that great, i'll agree.
They just look a whole lot better on a good gaming pc....

It does not really feel that different. Instead of a double-tap to sprint or jump high, you now have just one button press.

You forgot to mention deeper. I can't stand the sp of c2, though I love the MP. C1 is all about the sp experience and modding it to your liking or just seeing what you can do.

I like the filter on the boxart.

I'm still in the kind of want camp. Crysis 2 was a massive letdown, but maybe they'll figure things out this time.

Translates similarly to PC. I still can't get over the story; I bought the Morgan hype. Never again.

Maximize profits, broader fanbase and perhaps letting people without a gaming PC try and play this game they've heard so much about.

That's not really the whole picture.

People in this thread have said comments to the nature of how soured they are on this franchise due to the console experiences. I'm surprised more of the heavy pc fanatics haven't gutted you for how over simplified it is. The console versions to me shouldn't be called crysis the way the levels are designed and how some were left out makes it not 1to1. I was expecting them to just set the rendering level to somewhere between high and very high but with all size changes it's not the same. Most who could actually play crysis even at launch didn't have the fps problems especially once the tweaking nuts came out with ways to make it perform decent.

Quite sad that just because a developer does decent job of converting the content on to a console doesn't mean they did well. The atmosphere that a pc user feels compared to console user is staggering when you get in to the subtleties the game offers.

The entire game have a different feel. I have played the campaign on C1 like 10 times, with different strategies. And since the suit powers can be individually managed, you can change modes faster and more dynamically.

Even the guns are better in the first game. In C2 the guns are terrible. C2 happens about 3 years after the first game. How can guns be worse?

The nano suit is also much weaker this time because if the new energy priorities. V2.0 my ass.

I can still remember the days when Crytek and some fans keep saying that Crysis 2 will set the graphical benchmark on consoles higher. Then bam, can't even hold a candle to a 2008 Killzone or Gears game.

Of course the game feels different. I am glad about it because I did not want a copy of the first game. You can change suit powers as fast as in 1, it does not really feel different to me except it's a little more streamlined in 2 for faster access via normal movement. Both games are fantastic and enjoyable. I still have to finish C2 though.

I agree with this. Cry2 on 360 though is pretty damn impressive given the dated hardware though.

Killzone2 is STILL the best look console FPS this gen. Not even KZ3 could touch it with it's mess of an art direction.

Crysis 2 does look like garbage on 360. I still enjoyed the game, but it ran like mud in some areas and the video grain bug ruined the look of the graphics.

Edit: Saying it is the worst FPS this gen is crazy. Turning Points?

Died in some comic by sacrificing himself to save Psycho and Prophet

While I do agree on how simplified everything seems, the gun aspect is the one thing I take issue with.

The guns simply sound better, are better modeled, and handle better in Crysis 2 imo.

Yes, you can switch just as fast, but the powers could not be individually selected. Which change the gameplay drastically. The slide and jump grip was a good addition, but the rest was just to much change to the root of Crysis. Crysis 2 is not a Crysis game for me personally.

The upgrades for the suit the C2 could also have been handled better. Collecting alien samples was a chore. Why no have the suit evolve around your style instead of selecting what you want. But I would rather have the upgrades removed.

I want the suit from the first game back, and more focus around the gun play and the environment.

Agreed. It was sort of clunky, for example, to find yourself on a ledge/cliff, switch to the air stomp if there's an enemy below you, the mid-air jump if there isn't, and then open the menu back up to switch back to the upgrade that recharges health/energy faster when you're done. I don't know why they didn't let us toggle or hot key those. Always having to open that menu. I'd rather see the upgrades be linearly progressive/stack-able instead of having to choose the right one for the right situation. The rest of the game play was a little too fast paced to allow for that.

Yep, that would have helped a lot.

Also not having all the powers active from the start ruined a lot of the game for me. The game was also heavily scripted compared to the first one. More freedom please.

You got almost full suit at level 2 if im not mistaken. And in replays you can keep everything has been a while for crysis 2.

At least with Prophet I doubt he'll age since his consciousness is just existing through the suit. The only thing biological in there is Alcatraz's dead body. Psycho may have found something similar or he'll be a cool, grizzled veteran.

I actually had KZ3 on one HDMI input of my TV and Crysis 2 360 on the other and switched between them, Crysis 2 looked soooooooooooooooo much better.

Framerate is shit, true, but the graphics are way better. KZ3 for example doesn't even have HDR lighting.

Does the 360 version of Crysis 2 look that much better than the PS3 version? As much as I love Crysis 2, KZ3 definitely smokes it on PS3.

To my knowledge, yes, the 360 version looks better than the PS3 version.

I know when I played through 2 on the 360, I was really, really impressed with how good it looked, considering the ancient technology inside the 360.

I doubt it. Other than the PS3 runs at a slightly lower res.

Crysis 3 definitely smokes KZ3.

Can I have your time machine? I'll give it back in good shape, I promise.

Don't get me wrong, I thought the game looked great on PS3 too. I just find KZ3's IQ and framerate to really elevate it above nearly every game this gen. Crysis 2 is undoubtedly the better game though.

How the hell can someone call C2 the worst shooter of the gen? It's better than every corridor shooter that has been released. It's not as open as C1 but it's more open than most. There are actually several ways to tackle an area, imagine that.

I think it's just a side effect of most people on the internet having only two levels of quality: "best thing ever" or "absolute, putrid shit".

Yeah, that's what's so stupid about the linearity hate it gets. Not like it isn't less linear than 90% of what else is out there in FPS. I mean, what (popular) FPS are less linear than Crysis 2? Serious question...

Only one that instantly came to mind for me is maybe Far Cry 2? And that game is both old and not particularly popular. Maybe the Halo series, obviously.

It's like "we supposedly hate linear games, so lets shit on this game less linear than 90% of the market!"

Will this have super-tesselated roadblocks, too? That's the way it's meant to be played, right?

Oh, and Crysis 1+Warhead>>>>>>>Crysis 2 by such a margin that I'm not sure about getting 3.
