Ahhh! Honestly, I'd be shocked at the visuals in the Transformers movies. I think my heart would have stopped. :0

On topic, I forgot that Crysis 2 was set in 2023. And that huge time jump is very interesting. But one thing (Crysis 2 end spoiler)
when Prophet/Alcatraz) emerged at the end, it happened in real time, no? He hadn't been in some suspended state or anything. I guess the nano-tech has kept Prophet relatively youthful if they're jumping ahead 20 years and he's still a bad ass.

Which means Psycho'll be an old man. :(

I can assure you that Crysis 3 will benefit from an exciting sandbox environment that reverts to the origin of the Crysis franchise.

good...good

They had me at Crysis. Screens and the boxcover art also impresses.

Just don't skimp on the damn AI this time Crytek! Pro Tip: Enemies should throw their hand grenades at the player instead of at their own feet.

After fighting the Ceph for a while it was just unfair fighting Cell. They didn't stand a chance.

Specially after
infiltrating CELL HQ to analyze the nanosuit and being captured. When the Ceph attack the soldiers around you on the street... you know that the Ceph are in another league

Which means Psycho'll be an old man. :(

Prophet: "...dead men walking..."

Yep. As much as I love Crysis 2 it's the only game I was relieved when I saw a grenade indicator because it meant an enemy just killed himself and at least two of his friends.

The Ceph were okay, they were much like buffed up humans. You could still stealth kill, grab them. I did feel human groups kinda coordinated better, although the AI of Crysis 2 was a bit dodgy overall.

The aliens in Crysis 1 were flying cannon fodder you couldn't really kill and approach in all that many ways. I didn't prefer those.

While the first half of Crysis 1 is much more open than Crysis 2, I think the second half is actually more linear in Crysis 1. Its pretty much a matter of getting the fuck outta there.

Wasn't there like some huge virus bomb thing that kills off all aliens? No... Wait... It ended with a cliffhanger, right?

It just wiped them out in NYC. It's more than enough time for them to have a resurgence and attack again by the time 3 starts.

I always feel kindof strange in Crysis threads because for as large as the overall land mass was in Crysis 1 it never felt as expansive as a true open world game. You were still funneled through relatively large corridors (bounded by heights) and into larger, prepared battle spaces. Crysis 2 was a refinement of that formula only with more verticality and cooler scenery (more than just grass and trees).

I know this has probably been asked in this thread already, but how are you playing as Prophet in 3? He shot himself in the head right at the beginning of 2.

Or are we playing as
Prophetraz

Definitely Prophetraz. Alcatraz is just dead weight in the body so it makes sense to refer to him as Prophet.

I agree. The only thing missing from Crysis 2 was the multiple angles of approach and the secondary objectives. The other stuff was kind of just a byproduct of the large areas.

Definitely on board with this. Hopefully there is another MP beta so I can see where the improvements are made to possibly make me get it day 1. If the MP in Cry 2 had just been a bit more polished up I feel I would have gone and bought it instead of just renting it for the SP.

Looks simply incredible. Art direction is ace. The screens are really weird though, it's like these are test environments shots with all the big gaps in the backgrounds.

Played Crysis 1 and Crysis 2, for the first time, over the last week on my new rig with everything set to Ultra and DX 11/ High-res textures enabled for C2. I had some of the most fun playing an FPS in a long time. Love the nano suit.

That interview sounds promising and I hope they deliver on everything they're promising.

Also, Crysis 2's intro is now one of my all time fav's (Love the score):

Good to hear Psycho's back.

The fact this is 20-something years later makes worried about Psycho. He'll be what, 50? They'll end up botching it - making him have the non-action sidekick role or whatever. Crysis 1 and 2 both had annoying characters that didn't do anything action-wise and dragged the game down.

Well, like all the other Nanosuit drivers, he has bonded with his Nanosuit, so I doubt he'll be in a non-action role.

I have had Crysis 2 sitting on my desktop from some D2Drive(I think they are gamefly now) sale for a long ass time now and just haven't got around to playing it cause of some of the gaf backlash. Crysis 1 is one of my all time favorite pc games ever should I give 2 a go or wait for the more open world 3?

2 is incredible. I like it more than 1. After a kind of long and annoying tutorial section the game gets a lot better. If you go in knowing that it isn't as open you'll be pleasantly surprised. It still feels like Crysis and it's a lot of fun. I find the suit a lot more versitile in 2.

Play it once for the sights and sounds, but just know beforehand - it's painfully linear.

This was my experience as well. I loved Crysis 1. Adore it, even. But as C2 got closer and closer to launch you could tell it wasn't going to be what Crysis 1 was. And then the game hit and got the predictable backlash. So I avoided it for a long time until I finally buckled down and bought it in the most recent Amazon sale, with skepticism firmly in check.

And much to my surprise it is a better game than the first.

Bring on Crysis 3, can not wait.

I'm actually glad that they're probably re-using a lot of their assets. That means more time for them to perfect other things. Plus Crysis really doesn't need improvement in the graphics department, but they've said they're improving things anyway. And did you guys complaining about the New York setting even read that they're planning to have a huge amount of environmental variety?

*sigh* Fine, dudebro clunky dual analog FTW!

I actually have been playing multiplayer on pc for the first time (I had the 360 version before I got my pc) and I still get a positive k/d most of the time with a 360 controller. The game is so movement/nanosuit based that a controller works really well with it. Plus there's aim assist.

What do you mean? In Crysis 1 I could hardly seem to do any combination of suit powers, since I died so quickly (on normal difficulty?) to faraway accurate enemies, my suit powers ran out so quickly I could not really pick off single guys unless I stealth sniped everyone, and it was kind of frustrating maybe.

In Crysis 2 people complained that the game was too easy because you could be cloaked the entire game. Why would that change be reversed to something worse than Crysis 1?
What I mean is that draining energy for just sprinting was one of the worst design decisions I can ever think of. It just killed mobility that Crysis 1 had, plus there were moments were I was getting shot and couldn't run to cover, instead I decided to walk slowly to cover and take some enemy fire because running to cover will drain my energy and make even more vulnerable. No one can get behind such terrible decision.

Crysis 1 you could sprint even with no energy, it just wouldn't be super fast and you couldn't regain energy while sprinting. 2 you couldn't sprint at all with no energy so I hope they go back to Crysis 1 style for that.

This. Worst FPS game this gen.

And this next game will probably be the same.

Same shit but with bows.
I'm honestly curious as to what could make someone think that Crysis 2 is the worst FPS this gen.

I can understand why that was frustrating for you and I will admit once or twice I found myself annoyed because I tried to sprint and was out of energy. But really, energy recharges ridiculously fast, especially with the upgrade for faster healing, and ESPECIALLY in comparison to Crysis 1.

But to me, it just reinforced the idea to me that within the logic of the universe, you are just a guy, and the suit is the only reason you are any kind of badass. If the suit is out of energy, you are really exposed and kind of momentarily fucked. So you learn to compensate and adjust your approach accordingly. It sits better with me than sprinting and then being "out of breath" or whatever after 3 seconds like in other games, anyway.

Edit-- Forgot that there was normal sprint in Crysis1 that you could use instead of 'speed mode.' It was a shame that Crytek nerfed sprint mode in C2, but I can see how they would need to limit it for the sake of gameplay. In smaller arenas, being able to sprint everywhere all the time would kind of break things. Hopefully they find some balance in Crysis 3, if indeed it is more open like the first game.

This is part of why I really loved Crysis 2. In the cutscene moments when the suit was deactivated, especially given Alcatraz's condition, he could barely even walk. I always like seeing the main character in moments of complete vulnerability and Crysis 2 captured that really well. It really put into perspective just how powerful the suit is and why that's the one thing keeping you from getting killed at every turn. It also avoids a lot of the conventions of games where the main character is shown in moments of weakness then can immediately do awesome stuff without any time to recover. Once the suit has power, the user is good to go again.

Here's a few things I would like them to fix:

1.Forced Tutorials
2.Unskippable Cutscenes
3. Using suit energy to sprint
4. clunky ass AI that can waft between being super observant and effective to being absolutely brainless
5. BRING BACK THE FISTS
