I think it's just a side effect of most people on the internet having only two levels of quality: "best thing ever" or "absolute, putrid shit".

Indeed.

Yeah, that's what's so stupid about the linearity hate it gets. Not like it isn't less linear than 90% of what else is out there in FPS. I mean, what (popular) FPS are less linear than Crysis 2? Serious question...

It's like "we supposedly hate linear games, so lets shit on this game less linear than 90% of the market!"

Yeah it's just moronic. As moronic as some people seemingly acting like the first Crysis took place in some sort of huge open world.

Agreed. I just finished my Delta run of Crysis last night and I had forgotten how absolutely tiny the last few chapters are.

Looks like Crysis is up there in the race to make-the-ultimate-unironic-meta-game now that the series is looking more and more post-apocalyptic.

oh list time...
crysis1 > Killzone 2 & 3 >> crysis 2

i liked crysis 2 but it never felt different and dnt know what were they doing with graphics but reduced destructibility and strange cartoonist look made me dissapointed in game.
at-least shooting felt satisfying but story AI sucked also hated the level design in that game!

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
-environment less destructive than Crysis 1

Figured, but damn. Urban jungle screams for procedural destruction, or something similar.

So that's the new version of the Nanosuit ? I see the mask a bit changed and possible the armor too.
I'm wondering about that too. The suit on that magazine cover looks great. It looks a little less chunky than C2's suit. It looks like a mix of C1 and C2's suits to me. Strong design from second suit but sleekness/leaner look of the first.

I like it.

Yeah,

And he looks muscle and all suddenly, much betters actually than I expected. Looks so close to Terminator :)

By giant frogs I wonder if they mean like cat sized frogs, or bear sized frogs. Because that could make a big difference.
Hopefully something like this:

I actually have been playing multiplayer on pc for the first time (I had the 360 version before I got my pc) and I still get a positive k/d most of the time with a 360 controller. The game is so movement/nanosuit based that a controller works really well with it. Plus there's aim assist.

For me, it's clunky. Things are not the same for everyone, so I shouldn't be ridiculed for my preferences.

Other than looking cool did the destruction in C1 really accomplish much? Could just be my playstyle but I never really utilized it.

Crysis 2 fucked up the gameplay from Crysis 1, i could not get on with the "refined" energy drain while holding enemies, the time it took to actually throw physical items and enemies with any force, going in and out of stealth had a delay (you could still be spotted until it had said Stealth Mode engaged, unlike the first), speed mode was gimped, enemies felt rather bullet spongey (and lifeless, all generic helmet wearing troops, no facial emotions like in the first one), wasnt fire rate an attachment too ? Then just other things like the feeling Alcatraz was hunched right up to the fat gun.

Crysis 1 on Xbox shown it could be done, and im hoping for the sake of 3 they take some (if not all) of the gameplay things from that along with some of the awesome stuff from Crysis 2 (sliding around, stealth kills etc).

I hated the cutscenes in Crysis 2. I swear Alcatraz blacked out at least 5 times.

or fell down, action hero style, or got thrashed by an enemy who for no reason is nowhere to be found afterwards, or finished a level and started in another completely unrelated level...

the game was fun to play, being Crysis and all that, but in terms of narrative design... pfff.

The awful part about it is that every EA game suffers the same pattern. Dead Space, Mass Effect, Crysis.. they've all been turned into "generic action games" in the sense of narrative or story structure. Dead Space 2 and Crysis 2 in particular, have almost the same plot development.

Bulletstorm even parodied this 'random action' sense, although it's easy to hide your work behind 'parody' when you fear your serious story is actually kind of silly.
I guess it can't be helped, with video games being cartoony and all that, but Crysis 2 really overdid it in order to "hide" the lack of (any) cohesion between its levels, which effectively made it stand out like a very sore spot. It really became quite annoying.

But then, it was fun to play... and watch (PC).

Not sure what to think about 3 being announced. Yes, tree covered buildings are nice and all...
but fighting a future war with an enemy who is buried underground doesn't seem like much of a challenge. Not one that you would lose if you had 20 fucking years to fight it. Hell, just download the 'destroy nano' from Prophet's suit and you're golden.

Aside from less destruction than 1, all of the details sound great. I was really hoping for the return of wildlife and side missions. I also hope there will be more destruction than in 2, at least.

Well, it's more than Crysis 2 which really didn't have any environmental destruction beyond scripted events.

How the hell can someone call C2 the worst shooter of the gen? It's better than every corridor shooter that has been released. It's not as open as C1 but it's more open than most. There are actually several ways to tackle an area, imagine that.

Crysis 2 was a perfectly competent console shooter with very high production values. The backlash wouldn't be nearly as bad if it was the first entry in the series, since you wouldn't have the previous effort to hold up against it.

So what happened to Crysis 2 writer(Can't remember his name) ? Will they keep him away from touching any video game.
