Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 | Final Previews are up

Just an excerpt

The first Kingdom Come Deliverance game was a marvel – but it was rough around the edges at times. It felt a little sluggish, there were a fair few bugs to deal with, and occasionally, it felt a bit too challenging. It’s not a game that holds your hand, but sometimes the difficulty level felt a bit too punishing for the average gamer.
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 retains that obvious challenge in the earliest sequences of the game, presenting players with a dire set of circumstances that take them from being a lauded nobleman to little more than a peasant begging for scraps. Where you once had a fine set of armour and a razor-sharp sword, you now have rags and bloodied knuckles.
That’s the welcome you get in KCD2 – but it’s phenomenal.
For those new to the franchise, you’re starting at the beginning, building Henry of Skalitz from the ground up and shaping him into what you want, and Warhorse Studios has done such a perfect job of explaining why that’s happening. This is an RPG at heart, and from the skill paths to the way you build your character based on your desired fighting style, everything is manipulated and experienced by you, the player.
For my Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 preview, I worked my way through the first ten hours or so of the game, but that was enough time to see that Warhorse has taken everything from the first game that I loved and improved upon it immeasurably – an evolution indeed.
Visually, the game is stunning. The audio palette is sumptuous and realistic, the movement mechanics are much smoother and more satisfying than the first game, and combat has been toned down a bit and optimised. The game’s AI is believable, interactive, and sensible, and the world around you feels as though it exists.
Of course, it helps that it’s rooted in history and authenticity – Warhorse made sure to employ the sharpest experts to make sure everything from swinging a sword to the behaviour of the local farmers is correct to the game’s period.
Performance-wise, I’m having no issues. I’m playing KCD2 on a high-end gaming PC with a controller, and running it at Ultra 1440p is giving me no concerns about the game’s stability. It’s buttery smooth and (almost entirely) bug-free.

I'm retarded?
So...outside of obviously different story and slightly better visuals, most of it is all the same including the tedious crafting, garbage janky melee fighting system, etc. I thought the first was just ok, like a 7'ish game. Im not day one on this. Oh yeah and the performance is probably going to suck dick. I reinstalled the first to see how well it runs nowadays and its still shit in most towns, not even maxed. I expect this to run just as bad.

Saw some screenshots that will make a particular crowd of gamers angry.
Of particular note, a clashing (of words preferably) of different religious ideology in a medievel setting is commendable. Wonder how that will go.

Is that a real 60fps mode? Or just YouTube magic via their codec?

I just started the first one a little while ago. Does the survival elements like hunger and sleep get annoying? or is it relatively not much of anything?

I liked the first game (wish there was a third person view as always) but it is a game I have to be in the mood for. It is kind of a pain in the ass to play, but thats kinda ok. Getting into a fight (for me) was always a worried experience because there was always a good chance I'd die.

I still haven't finished it. I'll probably like this one too but it won't be a purchase right away.

I never played KCD1, do I need to in order to get the story, or can I start straight with KCD2.
I think you dont need to. But there are many characters returning and you might have a little different experience (context wise) as someone who played the first game.

No, it was never annoying for me....it was all pretty fair and reasonable...even the weight restrictions (as you can upgrade yr horse as well ie.)

It's funny reading the other sites thread on these previews. Full of people boycotting the game as they are overly upset a game set in Midevial Europe is filled with masculinity and sexism
Adding a bit to this with stuff that has been mentioned before.

As a person of color, I don't see the fuss in this game not being diverse. I'm not a history buff...but I think it's accurate for the time and setting.

Having said that, I also don't see the point of fussing about Assassin's Creed Shadows(however I did think the hip hop music in the trailer was dumb).

The only time I would have an issue is if there is a character creator that lets you be everything under the sun but doesn't have decent hair/skin/face options.

I'm playing through KCD1 right now. Sleep and hunger are not difficult to maintain. You can fast travel everywhere, so finding food to buy or a place to sleep doesn't take more than 2min of your time. It's probably 90min of in game time where you fill up on food and sleep before you need to do so again

Game saving can be punishing, which I really like. A lot people don't like the potential of losing 30-40min of progress, though. It's an immersive sim that forces players to utilize the majority of the games mechanics. It's not like RDR2, where you can ignore most of the RPG elements and play it as an action adventure game

Combat is more refined and streamlined. Also different weapons have different movesets and animations now
I saw the footage, it looks similar enough for me to absolutely dread every fight encounter, and i can't play any game where i dread combat since i'm mostly a combat guy.

It is not a matter of challenge, i'm one of those people that greatly enjoy being a weak fuck and being destroyed for the first 10-20 hours of a game, i just find the combat extremely unfunny and fake looking, like 2 actors recreating medieval combat in a theatre instead of actual gritty, dynamic combat, hitting people and watching them go down in the first one was super unsatisfying to me, it looked super scripted and fake, i'm not gonna sugar coat my opinion.

At least i know that shitty combat was one of the most commonly listed flaws of the first game so i know i'm not the only one.

I liked that combat had a real consequence and you had to work to make sure you get destroyed. I never felt invincible but I got better.

Combat was fine for the first hours but then it just became tedious af especially during the multiple enemy encounters. It wasnt a fun, it was a niche. This doesnt look more refined at all. Hopefully owning everyone with the bow remained a thing.

AJUMP23 AJUMP23 like i said, challenge is a non-problem to me, i just hate the mechanics and how it is animated and how unsatisfying was hitting and killing people.

So extremely disappointing both visually and mechanically.
Never had a problem with the combat. Its block->hit->block. And later on you owned everyone with the "master parry". But I am no combat type guy. You can hunt me with From games. :messenger_winking:

Never played KD1.

I've actually never played a medieval RPG that wasnt fantasy with dragons, skeletons and traditional shit like that. Kill the monsters, clear the caves, find magic artifact X in a temple on a mountain to create a dimension door etc...

So if KD games are more realistic and grounded, what's the typical quests to do????

Kill humans & animals, find shiny armor, be a thief, be an alchemist, enjoy the bathhouses, play dice games....such things.
