Nintendo generally doesn't talk about specs though anyway do they?

no but about new hardware gimmicks, and there's very little you can do with those optical sensors that are leaked other than mouse-like inputs.

so this might be one of the big reveals that is leaked already

Can You Smell The Rock GIF by WWE

I knew I smelled bull shit when everyone was so sure about this.
Nintendo PR would have given the info to Nate and others. Nintendo is using the “insiders” to generate hype.

It is referred to as “softening the ground”. Meaning a company lets certain things be known so “no one” is taken off guard.

Apple is the king of this. We already know the new iPhone features before the reveal every September!

Probably shadowed dropped.

Companies like Newsweek are saying it could be announced. Even they reference Nate the Hate. Doesn’t that seem odd to to you?

Who ever Nate is, he likely works with some marketing company.

Think of it honestly, if you or I spilled the info on the next big thing from a billion dollar company, that company would take legal action against us. Nate has no such action.

Don’t fall for the shill. Nate took his marching orders from Nintendo.

Let’s see what happens today.

Difference is, this console looks almost identical to the switch. The switch could stand on its own because it was vastly different to everything in the market, this is not.
That's even more of a reason not to do a big event as much as I hate this fact. They can just market it as "the next Switch" and the normies will know what's up. As long as it doesn't have a stupid name like Switch U or some shit it should be fine. And I'm sure they'll do a deep dive soon enough. Besides....we already know how the thing looks from the countless leaks,we need the games lineup though...

to be fair, at this point the games are literally like 1 of only 3 things we don't know about it.

we know the design with incredible detail, we know it has optical sensors in the rails of the Joycons, we know it's an 8" 1080p screen, we know the APU and roughly the clock speeds...

What's left is the games, and infos on what those optical sensors do....

and of course the C button, but even that was maybe leaked by dataminers to be some chat-hub button.
I've thought about the optical sensor and contrary to what people think, I believe it is not going make the joycon be used as a mouse on a table, but rather the grip or the thing to put on the joycon to use more comfortable as split controller has a small crystal reflecting a ultraviolet light to be projected from the top of the controller and caught by the Switch 2 rumored camera, then it's going to be used as an IR pointer by telling the switch the position of it in the space, similar to how the Wii IR sensor works but inverted, Switch 2 probably has some way to know the position of the joycon UV reference point compared to its previous position, that would allow Nintendo to release Wii and NDS games in the online service.

Well it’s nearly 16:00 as I type on the 16th in Japan. Unless they are going to wait until the middle of the night to please the west I’d say it isn’t happening.
I remember that I saw the first Switch trailer, while being at work in 2016. It was like 4pm for me, I think? So the reveal dropped at 10am ET

Ok, today was actually fun. Genuinely loved all the insane hype. But man, seeing the losers come out in the last few hours with their "grounded" takes is souring the end of this day ugh.

if the sensor on the joy-con is going back to wii mote days, i wonder if we will finally get a new mario galaxy or another collection / remake :messenger_beaming: maybe wii is going to be added to online subs saving them remaking titles.

I think Nintendo canceled the Switch 2. Instead they’re going to sell a new improved Switch 1 for the next 8 years, it now comes with 8 inch screen, magnetic joycons, and a fancy u shaped kickstand. And 6% improved battery life.

This only makes sense if we think Nate gets info from Ubisoft, SE, Microsoft, Konami and other PR departments too.

He has connections in the industry but their not "marching orders". Hence why some of the things he hears are right, and others are wrong.

I don't see Nintendo needing to "soften the ground" for things like a 3DS Kirby remaster or Fire Emblem 4 remake or a 1 2 Switch sequel.

Well I’m telling you. People from wsj would not use Nate the hate as a source. Neither would Newsweek or ign.

So maybe something changed. He wasn’t around hardly at all last year.

People need to use their common sense. Since when do companies make huge announcements without announcing the announcement ahead of time? You're not getting anything, stop getting clickbaited.

Why would they not use Nate as a source, when he is the source? He has been sharing information for 4+ years (I first came across him when he was talking about Ring Fit Adventure).

Nate was the first person to talk about HFR going multiplatform, and here's an article from IGN using him as the source for that https://www.ign.com/articles/xbox-exclusive-hi-fi-rush-rumored-for-nintendo-switch

What indication is there of anything like that? That sensor on the edge of the Joycon? I don't see how that would work.
