Late 2025? Nah. They’ve gone an entire calendar year with only one full Nintendo Direct, and we can see the lineup shorting out at the same time they’ve said they’ll make an announcement of the next system. It’s releasing in the next 6-9 months, for sure.
I just feel it, man.

It just doesn’t line up with what they’ve said nor with the software drying up. They certainly wouldn’t announce it in early 2025 if it wasn’t coming until holiday. The Switch was revealed 10/20, full unveil 1/11, and release 7 weeks later. And the gap for the next one is likely to be even shorter.

I don't really like paying too much attention to patterns as they are not always an indicative of what could ever happen in the future. Yes, consoles can be announced several months before launch, and no, it doesn't have to be a big blowout showcase for new features and game software, but rather, something akin to this:
SIE posted this over a year before the PS5 even launched.

Nintendo definitely won’t do that. 😂

IF Switch 2 is not announced this week.

As I said before, the meltdown will be EPIC. People will rationalize for as long as possible, but it is finally feeling that maybe a 2025 event is more likely.

Hey, look at it this way…

If you don’t take it too seriously, you get a few hours of free entertainment from the meltdown if Switch 2 is not announced.

If Switch 2 is announced, then we all get what we want.

Win-Win, either way!

Come on Nintendo!! Need to build a hype cycle, decrease Switch 1 price by $100 for the holidays and announce the Switch 2. Full BC will make it so that software sales wont be affected.

My man, Nintendo already did that before...
Not modern Nintendo in it’s current form. You’re harkening back to the old days of e3 when new hardware would be unveiled the year before it came out. No question the gap between Switch 2 reveal and release will be even shorter than it was for Switch 1. It’s all they need to do nowadays, and they know it.

If Switch 2 is getting Mario and Luigi, one could interpret that as Switch 2 is NOT BC.

Just saying. Maybe there is an announcement this week. Realistically though, I think Nintendo is launching the system in May or LATER. If that is true, then announcing the system in January to May, is the same as the Switch 1 reveal in October and release in March. It is approximately the same.

I also will say, don’t take anything for granted. For Nintendo who has historically been “anti consumer”, i can see them wanted to release deluxe versions of older titles in HD to pad out the releases of Switch 2. Nintendo will never be able to replicate the Switch 1 1st party release schedule again, due to the fact that Switch 1 used Wii U library extensively to pad out the releases. It worked brilliantly.

No reasonable person at this point would have any reason to doubt Switch 2 will be BC (at least mostly)
I agree. I am just saying what i was told two years ago from devs at 3rd parties, that do not assume 100% BC is true.

It would be great, make no mistake. A PS1 to PS2 transition would be legendary. Or a GameCube to original Wii would be legendary.

I am just saying, I do not take it as 100% until I hear it directly from Nintendo.

I think we all just have to wait and see.

Anyway, maybe we get a Halloween surprise.

No chance.

They have a holiday season to sell switches in. Maybe November but I would not be surprised if they waited until Jan. Even though they said they will reveal this fiscal year.

Anyone find it yet? Surely that Brazilian uncle who works for Nintendo knows what he’s talking about!

Kinda eh to bring up this when systems have 8 year lifecycles, I still don't believe it necessarily has to follow the same pattern as Switch 1, especially considering how much of an outlier and risk the console was for the company.
Anyway, March is out of the question now.

The trend is to have even smaller gaps now, there’s no way they’re reverting to pre-Switch days and announcing a new console with a longer gap. That just doesn’t make sense.

I saw that announcement! Very excited, I love XCX. Glad it’ll get a second chance on a more popular system. I think March was already out of the question. I think April/May seems about right.
