It's ok that the characters are all smacking the shit out of each other though.
All of the costumes in that game ate terrible so it's no surprise non-nerds would find them embarassing
Thst goes for the majority of games and anime. They will never lose their stigma of being aimed at horny virgins as long as garbage like this gets praised by people here.
I cringed through the Story Mode.
SFV's costumes are ridiculous. Who are they trying to titillate?
Thanks for the broad brush. I didn't realize I'm a "horny virgin."All of the costumes in that game ate terrible so it's no surprise non-nerds would find them embarassing

My biggest problem is with the revealing ones being the DEFAULT costumes.
I mean Laura and Mika clothing makes no sense when you compare to reality.
Laura biggest problem is still her story mode outfit, but they both makes no sense even if only for the lack of bra that if anything, shows that the japanese dudes never saw a women
The former is tied closely to selling overpriced dlc
Actual women choosing to dress a certain way or play a sport is different than video game characters specifically designed to appeal to a mostly male audience.
They're in a game in which people can throw fireballs out of their hands...there is no reality to them.
TIL, kids don't watch prime time.Which is cool. SFV is rated T for teen. If your child can't handle that, be sure to not let them play or watch it. This is why we have the ratings. And why SFV was on primetime TV. Starting at 7pm PST or 10pm EST.
You must be stupid.I will admit ..i don't watch wrestling on TV .. it's not part of my hobbies ..but i really have trouble seeing the difference between those 2 pictures

I kinda feel like SF should be above this kind of shit, but I guess you do what you gotta do to move units.
R.Mika was pretty scantily clad in SFA3 but she also had personality, she wasn't just a boob monster. Cammy I guess has always been fan service. I dunno. I just like punching stuff. Don't make me feel embarrassed by being into your game.
They'd just need to buy some of the more modest clothing DLC (unless it's in the base game already) and turn down the jiggle in the options menu.Imagine if Skullgirls or DoA5 was ever on ESPN. The executives would probably panic and shut everything down to protect the viewers eyes. Also yes underboob is the best boob angle followed by sideboob, thats my expert opinion.
Then again, this outfit still shows female shoulders which, according to Nintendo, is not suitable for teenagers.

Then you obviously haven't play much SFV then.
Mika has a shitton of personality beyond boob monster.
Why must people shame anyone who likes things by basically calling them deviants while they act so superior. It pisses me off like no other. You don't like it. That doesnt make you better than anyone. Nor does it hurt gaming,
News Flash, the same idiots yall are so desperate to gain respect from..still think yal are nerds too. This weird idea that there is this big gap between gamers is annoying as fuck.
Yeah been noticing that as well. People really just hurt their own arguments when hurling insults. That being said...its weird how passive agressive insults are allowed as long as they are hidden behind some bullshit cause. Just because you like the design doesn't make you a virginal POS loser. I cannot stand how that is allowed to go on in these threads constantly.

Urien's default costume is his suit, but he rips it off for his Critical Art.Hey I am cool with this, as long as ESPN2 makes sure to raise a stink about Urien's default costume next year. Assuming it's the same as Third Strike
His manly ass is too much for TV to handle.
Yup, while I can sympathise with the motivations behind some of the arguments, the holier-than-thou attitude and general twattishness they are made in is off-putting.That being said...its weird how passive agressive insults are allowed as long as they are hidden behind some bullshit cause. The people that say this typically are people who like to think they are somehow more superior and enlightened because they don't like these things than the people that do and cannot make actual arguments so they rely on petty insults by calling people virgins and man-children.I cannot believe we are rehashing the same shit again.
SFV really can't have any good press around here, eh?
Look. Its fine that ESPN made this choice. They are owned by Disney FFS. So as long as Capcom doesn't delete the costume...who cares.

ALSO SF is not realistic. It never has. It never will be. So yes Mika's design is out there as fuck...that is legit the whole point of her character and SF itself. Most of the characters rae exaggerated larger than life stereotypes....that is the whole idea. You don't have to like it...which is fine..but understand the idea behind it.

How does Skullgirls apply to this?
Dont see much in skullgirls to get upset about. The art in skullgirls is cartoonish as apposed to 3D models bouncing around all over the place.

I suspected that Fuudo was forced to change costumes, after he went from Mikas sexy default to that more conservative, boring and ugly alt.
Even though the gameplay from the finals was great, the lack of sexy Mika combined with the abundance of Nash and Chun mirrors and the same fighting background being used all through, made it visually underwhelming.
You can see on the stream chat, many other people love seeing the sexy female outfits too.
Mika is not an SFII character which was about stereotypical fighters from different countries.
She's an alpha character, the series that brought you stuff like Karin and Sakura flashing their panties during moves.
I think there's a matter of "taste" beyond "offense." I love SF, but I think Mika's design is just awful -- partially due to the amateur way they pander with cheap sex appeal, but I wouldn't say I'm offended by it in the sense that I can't handle it. I'm not offended by nudity or showing skin -- as an artist, I've drawn nude figures myself and I think nudity is completely valid as a form of expression. I think games have every right and perhaps even an obligation to explore nudity.
Look, I like porn just like most guys. I get it. But when it comes to games as a medium, I want more. Games designed as softcore porn (or even actual porn) are fine -- that niche won't ever go away. But more broadly, as a medium, I want games to strive to be better -- part of that means escaping the sensibilities of 14 year old boys, as has been the focus for too many games for too long. DoA can do its thing, but SF presumably wants to be taken seriously beyond the niche of softcore porn and I want to support that -- I think games, SF included, have the potential to be enjoyed by a much wider audience -- part of that means SF ditching the cheap pandering and focus on actual good character design.
Likewise, I'm tired of this persecution complex when people make their dislike for instances of sexualisation known, complete with exaggerations and deflections.Yup, while I can sympathise with the motivations behind some of the arguments, the holier-than-thou attitude and general twattishness they are made in is off-putting.

This was datamined. The only reason why it doesn't come off in Story Mode is because Urien has the suit in the following cutscene.Pretty sure that's a PC mod or some sort of video edit. His suit does not come off if you do his CA in story mode, I'm 100% sure.
It is NOT clevage vs underboob.
Are you people so used to shit like this that you forget that ANYONE who sees mika default outfit KNOW that they are basicaly showing her nipple without any nipple ?
I bought the fucking game. I avoid playing online because of shits like this.
I will not even by gunpoint buy the laura story mode outfit, but I can't make people who I play online choose which costume or character they are playing. So this DOES hurt my gaming time.

ESPN, happy to promote an annual nude issue, shove cheerleaders in our face and generally trot out big breasted anchors and sideline reporters at their discretion.
But God forbid fake videogame boobs

FFS she's a fictional character.
