Rumor mill is that they’re going to release a remaster of BotW, so you’ll probably have to buy that game again to get those benefits. Haven’t seen anything regarding TotK.

But I’d think the Switch 2 would just be able to brute force a lot of games even without patches or any manual developer inputs (?) as long as they have variable resolutions and framerates.

That was BotW, which is rumored to be getting a remaster.

My save for those games are more than 200hrs each, I spent around 5 months playing only TOTK. As much as I love them both, I won't play them again.

Series S has the same CPU as Series X and PS5. Switch 2 is going to have a fraction of that. This is going to be Switch all over again, with people praising the few miracle ports of games such as Witcher 3 and Doom Eternal, that are simply unplayable in their current states.
5 years into the PS4 how many games would be unplayable on the PS3? A lot.
5 years into the PS5 how many are unplayable on a PS4? A few.
Most people play live service games like marvel rivals. Which one of those won't be able to run good on a switch 2?

Also, there is a lot of talk in the industry about scaling things back. I think a lot of devs are going to start to focus on smaller experiences with worse graphics ( as in not much better than we're getting now) and make sure those games will be able to run decently on a switch 2. The industry is in a different place.

Even in first party We've seen naughty dogs next game. We've seen sucker punches next game. They don't blow my mind graphically like how their PS4 games did when revealed.

If you play on a potato then yeah sure, it doesn't make any miracles.
12th Gen Core i7-12700k

rtx 3700

...not a potato.

my laptop uses RTX 4600 with 32gb of ram also, cant remember the cpu, but again...not really a potato. can play many games at 60fps nicely on it.

However whenever I turn on DLSS, to see if I can push higher framerates, looks like blurry mess like i said.

Honestly I don't notice any blurriness . And considering over 80% of people play with DLSS on according to Nvidia I imagine most feel the same.

I'm gonna say most people are casuals then, and don't really notice shitty looking games. I was listening to Jeff Gerstmann's podcast recently, and he echoed my sentiments about DLSS. Don't always agree with him about everything, but I also trust his long experience, and overall game knowledge.

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife

Aw come on, shouldn't look so bad. What settings are you using? 4K or even 2K look quite nice with DLSS on quality. Even 4K balanced can look more than decent imo.

They may give us a surprise and both consoles will be used as the new generation. Nintendo switch as an accessory for Nintendo Switch 2.

Maybe it was just the game I was playing with bad implementation, but the worst I noticed it was for Tekken 8. Was trying it out at 1080p on the laptop, with like 60-70% internal DLSS scaling, and that looked really bad. Silent Hill 2 also didn't look great.

Man. Could you imagine the meltdowns online if they named it the Super Nintendo Switch like so many of you dorks wanted?

With that MK8-lookin ass trailer? It would literally be the Wii U all over again. The reveal is already giving >NEW< Nintendo Switch XL energy as it is. There would be so much fuckin confusion. Super Switch was always a terrible name.

Yeah that would’ve been a bad choice.
The nostalgia from SNES would’ve been sweet though, but not a good idea.
Switch 2 is perfect. Can’t wait to see more games!

Yeah, Wii U really traumatized Nintendo.

also notice how it was revealed on the third thursday of the third to last month of the window Nintendo gave for the reveal, just like with the original Switch
Edit: well I was wrong on the specifics but still funny imo

They'll upgrade because they'll be able to play games on Switch 2 they can't play on Switch 1.

Like how all the casuals who bought a Wii upgraded to the Wii U to play its exclusives?

I think the Switch 2 will do better than that, but I don't think it will achieve OG Switch sales.

So I didn't see a micro SD slot and I wonder if it means that the slot is in the area where the card reader is. In the video, the game card flap was a lil longer from what I can tell compared to the original.

Edit: Seems it's under the U shaped stand. Disregard

Nah it wasn't the game, any upscaling tech will look bad when working at such low resolutions. Might want to try again once the new model is out, think it's a le to squeeze more detail.

So.. Are the 3rd party floodgates open now or would there be any reason for them not announce their games coming to Switch 2 before the April presentation?

Wii U having a very weak line up of exclusives was an important factor in its failure. It came at a time when Nintendo had been focusing on 4 different software ecosystems.

This time will be the first time since the NES that Nintendo can launch new hardware and focus on only 1 software ecosystem. So it shouldn't suffer the same issue

Smaller ones (like Baltro) can announce. Bigger ones would rather wait for the Direct.

Will be interesting to see if Microsoft mentions it.

If he was right, surely it wasn't blind faith?

To his credit, he's been right in the past. Wrong, too, but more right than certain other people like Grubb that's for sure.

So I guess there is credence to his other rumor about FF VII Remake & Rebirth getting Switch 2 and Xbox ports. Switch 2 I think is expected; Xbox I guess is just because it's already there and in a worst-case they can get a Game Pass deal if sales are projected to be poor on that system.
