Yeah, it has for me, I haven't spent thousands in games since gamepass has come out, it has saved me tons of money in games that ended being garbage in the end. People on here on Twitter are afraid of change and since it does not come from their glorious Sony leader, they are not celebrating the fact that it's a successful service. This is how Netflix started, some naysayers claimed it could not take over but yet here we are.

Same. A lot of people bitch about everything being a subscription service nowadays but I pay like 50 bucks a month for my entire entertainment needs and I'm usually 100% happy without ever having to spend a penny more (there are some small exceptions). Shit's never been cheaper.

I have Gamepass Ultimate, and I can’t see myself unsubscribing any time soon. It’s definitely opened up an avenue to lots of games I wouldn’t have played without it.
Once Microsoft’s exclusives start dropping, we’ll see how much the general public buys into the concept. For the hardcore, like myself, it’s a massive saving. For the casual who only buys one or two games a year, it might not make sense. Interesting to see it play out.

Taking the 2017 numbers for UK there was already 50.2:32 advantage for all physical games (this is probably reasonable given that GP was still new but you could debate for other numbers). The next question is what happens to the data if you take out games that also came to switch, and switch exclusive games. Also wondering what the ps/xbox split was at, at that point.

Entertainement subscription can also count library or cinema subscriptions as well as some store where you can borrow games etc ... It basically mean everyone excpet maybe oldest people.
I really like the 74% of gamepass subscriber play more than regular gamer ... regular gamer that include people that hardly ever play, I think most of thoses statement could apply to either ps+ or gold users....Simply because they are more invested than non paying users.
Just like people that have put money on gacha games tend to play more that game than free users.

The Xbox customer-base has shurnk, and by definition the hardcore are the last to leave. So this is just an extension of the MAU argument that current Xbox customers spend more money per person.
Yes, the data is likely right. It is the interpretation that is sus. But then we are talking about Xbox PR department, probably the most incompetent department of the entire Xbox Division. So it makes sense that they are not convincing anyone except those who are already playing Xbox.

If you are disagreeing because you think I was wrong, then you can just post the signature "triggered" emoji like every other Xbox poster here. Because you can think all you want, but if Xbox is truly growing MS would have TOLD US.
The very fact that they advertise Gamepass as "Our customers spend more money on average", is meant to hide the fact that "We have less customers than before". Because why even use that silly metric? It is a metric that literally only works if you have less customers.
Back in the Wii-U disaster, Nintendo would have hardcores left still playing and could have made the same claim. "Wii-U customers spent more money on average than Wii customers". And they would be telling the truth. It just wouldn't be a good thing.

I think MS is right, most consumers prefer convenience. A good friend of mine buys only digital and he prefers it, even if the physical copy would be cheaper and shipped the next day. He says, he wants the game NOW and doesn't mind paying 5-10 Euros extra for that. He also said that storing the physical copies is a hustle. People asking for your copies to borrow, he misplaces them, Disc is scratched etc.
As a Gamer myself I find this attitude over such mild inconveniences pretty wild, but I feel this is the attitude a majority has and MS knows that. It's a fire and forget attitude, same with Netflix/Gamepass. Like hey u don't have to think about buying games or reviews and aaaall the tedious time wasting going with all that. You pay your subscription fee automatically (also easy to monitor financially) power on the console and just game what's on the menu. And if there's a particular game you're interested in you buy it also digital, cause you already have the subscription with all your bank data. Maybe that's a point for publishers, subscriptions are suppressing physical copies in the long term which for the publisher is..... convenient

I am more of a PC / PS guy, but since getting my Series X and gamepass I do in fact play at least once a week with a friend. I haven't games with him for years because he was always Xbox and I was always Playstation.

I really want to know what they count as a gaming subscription here. Does signing up for PS+ so you can play your physical copy of FIFA online count as "playing games through a subscription"?

I think it counts as « playing through a subscription ». There’s no way they would find a statistically significant number of PSNow subs by asking 2,000 ppl in each country so it probably included PS+ and NSO.
