Nate is very reliable and Thursday is a day where Nintendo shows stuff normally. Also, splitting hardware and software announcements is a very smart marketing tric. People will be hyped as F while waiting for the next Direct. The internet will be Nintendo's for 2 months in a row.

Nintendo playing this one very smart.

I think they have to show some gameplay footage or it will feel incredibly anticlimactic if the leaks are even 75% accurate. Can’t get hype for shit we have basically known for weeks if not months.

Not saying they have to blowout all the software here, not even close but it better not just be a high production value presentation of the shit we already know.

Wonder if they’ve cooked up any innovative things that will influence other companies too. Innovative Nintendo is fun, would suck if it’s just upgraded hardware.

They’ll prob have a couple things up their sleeves.

I'd like to discuss this because from my perspective if they only showcase the console and its specs, only enthusiasts like us are gonna get excited, soccer moms and their kids who don't know how to interpret specs won't give a fuck so how can they get hyped without seeing games run on it?

I do understand your last point though about Internet being Nintendo's bitch for 2 months.

Until gaming's Nostradamus, the mighty Mr Grubb gives us a date, I think we better hold our ass cheeks together as we won't know anything concrete until the guru talks.

I hope they'll show at least some footage of games.

Ngl, it feels kinda useless to announce a gaming device when you don't talk about the games. No one gives a shit about the consoles themselves.

Very disappointing if no games are shown since the console has virtually fully leaked UNLESS they say “ and all your original Switch games will be 4K 60 fps on Switch 2” then I’ll be ok with it.

The timeline is:
-Jan 16: Hardware introduction video, less that 5 minutes, no big focus on software
-Mid/late February: Console presentation featuring software lineup, price features and services deep dive
-Late may (maybe June?): worldwide relase
The reveal will effectively kill Switch sales (at least until/ unless Nintendo seriously drops MSRP), and they're gonna want to start off their next fiscal year with a bang, which likely means April 1st or thereabouts. If this thing is finally ready to go there's not much point in delaying it till May/June.

Wild if xbox are the first to show a switch 2 game. Can't see it.
I think Indiana Jones & an exact release date will be announced for Switch 2 at the xbox show since its already been announced for PS5 without a date. My dream would be them also announcing the Master Chief Collection for Switch 2 at this thing. It’s the only reason I still have an xbox hooked up to my tv.

Just let me get my pre order in...Take my money and make me buy an OLED later you TWATS!
I find this super annoying. I mean yes, I will do the same, but in 2025 they could have had a damn OLED screen in there.

I guess my kids will enjoy their “new” IPS switch 2 in 2027 or so! 😉

Well, to be fair, MK9 will be played on the basement TV all the time either way.

If true I guess they don't want to lose control on the message with all the leaks, but no games means they're still not quite ready.
