Yeah I guess thats my point, the switch has a die hard following I know, there are alot of really good games that are locked to the platform but the flip side is the people buying a switch 8 years ago or the kids that got one are 8 years older, are they not maturing into different games?

Anecdotally I got a NES back in 89 as a 12 year old. I'm now 47 and still playing Mario/Donkey Kong/Zelda etc etc.

The above video made some very astute observations that are worth interest...

The critical detail is that the only USB C port is on the top. The port on the bottom is now a different, larger port. By happenstance it resembles an existing GPU adapter with a gap in the middle. This, combined with the back of the dock being chunky and having exhaust grills, raises alarm bells for me. I'm paying attention now.

Combined with some other stuff I've seen. It seems like IR aiming is coming back. The new joycons have camera like Wiimote between SL/SR, when you hold it sideways. If you slide on the wrist strap attachment it has lenses/mirrors in it to hold it like a wiimote aiming instead.

So Switch 2 will finally give us the 1:1 IR pointing AND good graphics I thought had been left behind for good. Which is fantastic for FPS games, Wii remakes like Galaxy 2, and people who don't wanna recalibrate constantly.

Nate is a good guy. He said that he "heard". He isn't the leaker. He is spreading the information he got from somebody else. You could've heard that if you actually listened to the podcast. Plenty of times he was right. I am very sure Nintendo changed its approach. They don't want the public to think that they are losing control. Joke aside, Nintendo will announce it when they are ready. I’m sure they’ll do it close to the release date to optimize the hype. If the console is a summer or fall release, it makes sense to announce it closer to those dates.

Obviously, where there’s smoke, there’s fire, and I wonder if they are stockpiling inventory early and that’s why there’s so much smoke (leaks) happening. At this point, I think Nintendo will be forced to announce SOMETHING just to calm the waters and continue with the rest of their plans.

Is the idea to hit the younger generation of gamers who want to play fortnite, minecraft etc, those guys are playing them on tablets already.

8 years is a pittance of time for how long this Nintendo cycle has been going on for, did you just get into gaming the past few years? It's been long enough now, that kids who loved Nintendo, evolved out of Nintendo into teenage edgelords, and then further matured back into Nintendo fans...several gens over.

I don't know why people are convinced it's not happening tomorrow just because Nintendo hasn't announced it yet. That's how Nintendo operates.

As much as I like my steamdeck, the process of docking the thing and setting up local multiplayer kinda sucks with it. It's just not as streamlined.
Even the sleep mode can be a bit iffy at times.

This is good to know. I gave my Steam deck to my younger brother pretty early in the lifecycle because he helped me move, and I just wasn't using it enough to justify keeping it.

I'd like to buy back in at some point, either with the next generation of Deck or the next Steam Machine, if that happens, but I need local multi to be pretty effortless.

I still think Nate is correct. Seems like something is happening soon. It does feel though as Nate is “Gate keeping” and baiting everyone a little bit. I do think Nate seems like a nice guy though.
