Amazing almost 1:1 performance with sometimes taking less watts for the same tasks, so better. Like in Persona 3 Reload. Sometimes it's a bit worse fps wise but its like 2-5 fps difference but with smoother frame graph.
You can add nonsteam games to Steam and use Steam input, I run Dino Crisis this way from GOG and I can use my d-pad instead of analog joysticks.
The best improvement over Windows is for me in UE4 and UE5 no shader pre-compilation ports when I buy games on Steam. Amazing work on Valve end.
Steam on Linux downloads pre-compilated shaders for Steam Deck from Valve servers and uses them on PC if you use games bought on Steam. So no stutters in those games whatsoever.
I had stutters in Evil West on Win10 like a mf, on Linux this is the gameplay:
I used CoreCtrl to control fans on RX 6700 XT and power managment.
As for games captures I use:
A shadowplay-like screen recorder for Linux. The fastest screen recorder for Linux

Same options as Radeon ReLive, with replay buffer going into RAM instead of SSD. And it uses GPU acceleration for x264 or x265. If you turn on the new UI you have similar overlay to AMD Adrenalin.

I recommend CachyOS, Nobara Linux or just Fedora, all GNOME versions. Those were the best distros for me.
This guys guide to mod Fedora is really useful:
As for Steam OS look I just use Steam Big Picture mode. Tap Xbox button or 8BitDo button two or three times on a controller.
I also recommend to look through my posts and other user posts in this thread:
So, yeah for 6700xt I would recommend Linux big time, after a few tweaks and guides.
I love that games run in Prefixes on Linux so any stuff I have to mod there, just stays there.
If I break something there, I just copy save files and delete the Prefix folder.
No stutters in games without pre-compilation is a game changer.
Huge bummer I will have to wait till AMD sorts Linux drivers on 9000 series.
It's gonna be a pain in the ass dealing with those ports on Windows.
But I get that most users are on Windows and they had to sort those drivers ASAP so they would work at launch and Linux drivers are not a priority.
After a bit of reading it took AMD six months to sort RX 6700 XT Linux drivers and a year for RX 7900 XTX.
So I expect them to sort this out at least till Win10 end-of-life.
I really don't want to deal with Win11 whatsoever.
And since my other posts in Linux gaming adventures thread CachyOS started to work without issues with cursor in Wayland. So this is my main Linux gaming distro. Always the latest kernel.
