Are there any Xbox Diehards here tonight ready to give your gaming life over to PlayStation now that Xbox games are coming to the platform?

I own all consoles from every generation, PS5 is the first console I haven’t bought. And I own hundreds of PlayStation titles and dozens of consoles, there’s just no exclusives I want to play on it that haven’t been on the PS4 pro or PC now.

It will honestly at this rate be the first generation I skip, I prefer to play some gamepass games on console, and some on PC but having the app and saves cross platform is all I need when swinging between the two. I mostly play retro games honestly.

Anecdotal evidence and going by talk here and on social I think most enthusiast Xbox gamers would rather do the bigger plunge and move to PC to get the best of both worlds and still have Gamepass.

PS5 just ends in a waiting for ports scenario and pay full price for games and restart a digital library and lose all your Gamerscore and Achievements etc.

Nah. Free GamePass Ultimate till end of 2027 currently so I’ll play their day one stuff for free. Plus in all that time I’m racking up close to 400,000 (so far) reward points so I can just extend, extend, extend until they either stop it or they don’t allow reward points to renew GPU.

I’d buy Halo MCC on PlayStation just for the novelty of seeing it on my PS5 Pro home screen.

I'd love to meet enthusiastic gamers who only play on one platform. It would be an interesting convo i think. I don't understand it but maybe they can explain why.

If it's for budgetary reasons I get it, but if it's out of choice I find it odd.

Are any of the PS-only gamers going to convert and say some of their favourite 2025 games are made In-House by Xbox ?

That makes no sense

Here’s the options for home consoles right now

PS5
- Sony first party games
- Third party exclusives
- Microsoft games (possibly coming day 1 eventually)

or

Xbox Series
- Microsoft first party games (timed exclusive only these days)

What would be the point in anyone switching from PlayStation to Xbox in 2025? Even Microsoft don’t appear to have any confidence in the console anymore.

Hopefully along with finally accepting Xbox makes great In-House games, Generation fans in 2025 will also accept sarcasm.

Maybe I’m just fussy, but no I don’t think Microsoft make great games, not since the days of Halo 3 and Gears 2 anyway, that’s 2 generations ago.

Apart from Astro-bot and Ragnarok I don’t think Sony have made anything particularly great this generation either.

For me indies and Japanese third parties are carrying the industry right now.

No, you're just a Fanboy ;)

Jokes aside I've never really thought Halo 3 was 'that' good (far more impressed with Killzone 2) and for me, Binary Domain was far better than Gears 2 not that Gears was In-House
The 360 era for me was a low point for In-House titles from MS other than Forza. Today that's different and In-House titles are right up there from the Xbox days from Xbox IMO

tbh, I'd rather what xbox are releasing on Gamepass day 1 than Sony 1st party. I'm not a big GaaS / Spiderman fan and they seem to want to push female lead single-player games. With GP I can crossplay most games on PC too. I get that most people seem to want PS, but mine barely gets use atm.

I went from being someone who bought and played on every system, to only gaming on ps5 now.

The reason is because of time.
I've only got so much time play the games I like.
I realised that there's no point in owning Xbox, and ps5, when they both play more or less same games I like, I played more ps than the Xbox, so I just stuck with one.
With all the Xbox games coming over, it's now looking like a good choice.

So there's no silly platform wars reason, just out of convenience.

I would have thought on GAF most people would own all consoles, but it seems like many seem to pick one.

Are you saying peoples XB hardware stop working when XB games are ported to PS?

( btw, i only game on PC, but I love the principle of a true multiplatform market )

Yeah. I literally buy almost everything because I'm odd I guess.

Saying that I'll be surprised if I buy the next Xbox. They'd have to make something that's pretty much perfect hardware wise and plays all third party games to the level of a mid range pc for me to consider it.

You act like Silent Hill 2 was released 10 years ago lol

Point is i dust the ps5 off occasionally and it regularly goes months without use vs Series X. The Astrobot games and SH2 are the best Sony has to offer atm.

Sonys lack of output has me on Xbox.

Its actually the opposite, I ditched Playstation because it has become too successful for me, the internet also told that it has no games despite having a killer console exclusives last year and a GOTY .. I like to cling to failed products like Xbox and SEGA to stand out!

Or I might invest in a gaming rig and spend 2x the price of PS5 on a xx60 rig! Or I might go to the doctor to check my autism spectrum and see if I might get a Nintendo system.

Cope bitches ... Playstation for life

It sold more on FP than they ever have, so looks like your tastes are the outlier, which coincidentally is also why you’re likely an Xbox diehard like Miku
Shows people have bad taste in games 🎮 😕 and most follow the crowd

Death Stranding 2 is all I want from Sony. And with all the game sharing going on it'll come to Xbox eventually.

I already bought way too many gaming PCs. After wasting about $5000 in credit card debt and seeing the games and seeing how similar they look to consoles of now it's like who the heck cares anymore? But seriously, I don't see any big difference in games these days between PC and consoles. It looks the same to me.
Me neither.
On the other hand, I don't mind spending whatever amount of money a PC with latest NVIDIA tech costs.

So for me it will be Xbox as long as there is a new Xbox (that has an Xbox logo). After that I will go back to the PC (I played exclusively on PC during the Saturn/Dreamcast/OG Xbox generations and didn't have a console at that time).

Sure, but that doesn't change the fact their entire library is on PC day 1.

The next Xbox (zero custom hardware) will be a PC.
Doesn't change the fact that PC gaming sucks. Computers remind me of work, which means I don't want to deal with them in my freetime.

I can't understand why someone would willingly game on a massive box when more sleek, visually appealing options are available. And I'm not paying extra to troubleshoot. Plug and play for the win. Console for life.

Such a weird question, when I buy gaming hardware I buy it for money, not through signing my soul away.

If a gaming outfit doesn't give me what I want, then I move on as I please. That includes Sony Steam Microsoft Nintendo and the rest of them.

I don’t think there are many Xbox only people here. And if they are Xbox only, it’s not like Sony is giving them any reason to switch and lose all of their library. Returnal is the only great game from them this gen and you don’t need a PS5 to play it 🤷‍♂️

I love watching console peasants fight like poor people regarding their plastic box full of value, counting pixels and talking about how well their game was upscaled from 1080p.
Poor rich topics never miss almost all threads, you could make a math and count who'd trade having another child for supporting another platform, unfortunately this issue affects %60 of households.

I would not say i was diehard Xbox but i sold my Series X recently. Was really easy since I have a way more powerful pc and i have not bought almost anything on Xbox since gamepass.

In the future steam is my main platform and Switch/Switch2 for Nintendo games

Currenty also have a ps5, but not sure if it is needed in the future since most stuff comes to steam these days…

I don't like Gamepass or PS Plus subs but if you have an Xbox, you have access to Indy, Forza and whatever new games are also coming to PS5 without having to purchase them. I think this is kind of a boon. I mean, I don't like these subs at all, I had GP running for 2 years. But yeah, if I want to buy just Indy and FH5 for my PS5 I would be set back well over 100 bucks.

If you think about it, as soon as these games come out on both platforms simultanously it does kind of make the Series a better deal because you don't have to hand over 69 bucks per game if you don't want to. There is the option of subbing and grabbing them, unlike on PS5. With multiplatform releases the difference in spending becomes more apparent.

I actually just got an Xbox again recently. I got a really good deal though from my buddy ($350 Series X w/ Elite Series 2, and the WD Black 1Tb expansion card).

I'm sure at some point down the line Gears and Halo will go to other consoles, but I wanted to play the OG trilogy now and it was a great deal. I'm currently playing through Gears 2/Dead Space 2/Split Second through BC, and my PC/PS5Pro haven't been used since outside of my PC purely for Battlefield. I'm just having too much fine right now to bother.
I guess I wait or maybe one day I decide to get another one. Hopefully they announce Gears trilogy is actually coming soon.

The Xbox series X is literally a black box. It looks like a pc.
I agree about the convenience of game console though

I'd say if you can get a good deal then go for it. I know the entire world is saying don't buy an Xbox, Xbox is dead, and all Xbox games will go to PlayStation.

Some of the titles I wanted to play I don't need to wait for or buy again. Plus there are titles that are unlikely to come to PlayStation like Halo Wars 1/2 and some others. BC is amazing on Xbox and there are lots of 360 titles that I either never played or want to replay like Dead Space 2, Binary Domain, and Red Faction Armageddon without pulling out my PS3 to play what is most likely the inferior version anyway. What made me finally just do it was that I wanted to play Indiana Jones, that French JRPG I can never remember the name of, and Doom soon and I already have GPU through like July so that's more games that I would possibly be buying on PS5 so that's another $180ish that I would have spent anyways.

Now, you could say that most of these games I can just play on my PC and yes you would be right but some games I just prefer to play on console, or are games that have issues on PC like Split Second.

I've owned and sold multiple Xbox consoles both this gen and last but I just decided since I got a good deal it was easily worth it for me.

Right. Going to PS would feel like a step backwards for Xbox-only guys, most of whom are big fans of GP and have large digital libraries. Assuming that they are willing to deal with the hassles and costs of PC gaming, that's a better choice. I'd also imagine that if you're an Xbox-only guy at this stage, you're probably loyal to the brand. Switching to PS5/6 might feel like admitting defeat somehow or joining forces with your rival.

Personally, if I were an Xbox-only guy, I'd be waiting to see what next-gen Xbox hardware looked like. Then I would decide whether to stick with Xbox or go PC. I wouldn't go PS6 unless Sony really started firing on all cylinders or I was dead set against PC gaming.

I went from being someone who bought and played on every system, to only gaming on ps5 now.

Same here. I've tried to own two consoles several times, but I always end up selling one of them back. I just don't game enough to make two consoles worthwhile. I'm a one-console kinda guy.

I don’t think there are many Xbox only people here.

There aren't. They are only 1% of the forum, per the poll I cited earlier. It's a rare breed, at least here.

Since the Mega Drive/Snes era, I've been lucky and stupid enough to own more than one of the major consoles, but you'll always select one as a favourite and the system that will be your main machine even if you own the lot.
I am so happy with the Series X and Game Pass with the odd bit of PS V now and then (Nintendo can get fu@ked) and haven't gamed so much since the 32-bit era.

Looking forward to the next Box

For me owning both Xbox and ps5 is like owning two ford focus of different colours. It's pointless, they're the same.
It's why Nintendo has thrived since the Wii, they differentiated themselves.
I only have a finite amount of time for gaming, playstation just gets so much game support, it makes sense to choose it.
It's probably a bit of brand loyalty in too in truth. I've still got piles of games all the way back to PS1 in my collection

I'm not a die hard Xbox fan, but chose it because I like GamePass and the games it offers on console and PC. If I want to enjoy some Playstation games (Spiderman being a recent example) I can always buy them on Steam. If GamePass does come to Playstation then I guess it would make things easier as then you could have everything on a single platform, but even then I can't see myself giving up my PC.
