DLSS 4 (the new Super Resolution and Ray Reconstruction models) will be compatible with ALL RTX GPUs

Does anyone knows how this DLSS finewine magic works?

Reads like video encoding, where Nvidia trains and packs the information in their mega technodrome at Jensun kitchen, push the .dlls into your windows pc and let your local rtx gpus decode and display the graphics using tensor cores?

This is next generation rendering where developers have to send their game codes to nvidia for AI training!

Switch won't have any frame gen from nvidia (ampere). Only FSR3.

but if its Tegra chip can run the new upscaler model without any performance penalty over the old model, it will potentially allow developers to use more aggressive scaling factors that boost performance while keeping image quality still good enough.

we have to see if the new model runs just as fast as the old one, but if it does, then it can potentially be a huge win for the Switch 2 in then long run

Could Switch 2 use any of this shit?
Yes, the new DLSS transformer model will bring a general IQ uplift to the Switch. It was already going to be good with DLSS 3.8 but now it will be even better.

The new DLSS4 multi frame gen is exclusive to the RTX 5000 cards, unclear if SW2 will support DLSS 3 frame gen or not. but base DLSS will receive a IQ improvement

Console is really a scam if you think about it... RTX20 is receiving the new features but to get the PiSSeR you need to burn $700 and the customers who bought a base Ps5 get the finger... and it isn't even worth it.
Using PSSR or FSR4 on base consoles would be like using DLSS in the 1000 series. Dishonest comparison.

So we could use FSR4 on base PS5 but Sony won't allow it because you need to pay $700 tax for a Pro but the same thing could run on a GTX10 with a cost on performance, still proves that console is a scam.

We could even use XeSS on console but no, buy a Pro to get worse results.

Hats off to Nvidia for upgrading DLSS to every RTX card ever released without the need to pay "pro tax".

You don’t get it at all. You can use the FSR4 on the base consoles but it won’t be as good as the PSSR or the ML accelerated FSR4 just as you can’t use any other ML accelerated upscaler on a 1000 series. Their TOPS performance just isn’t there.

I don't get folks who with every new DLSS version finally realize the last wasn't as flawless as they've been saying. It's SO awesome. No wait, NOW it's awesome. No wait, NOW it finally fixes the HUGE issue we didn't care for before (also omg @ the lame competition not having it fixed yet)! Etc. 🤷‍♂️
It's pretty simple: DLSS was always miles ahead of (insert your favorite non-DLSS upscaler here). Now the gulf is wider still.

Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch
Mario's muscles are just getting bigger, and DF is in shambles.

We have no idea what AI model that Nintendo Switch 2 is using yet. But I guess Nintendo and Nvidia can work together to release a firmware update to use transformer model, if Switch 2 launches with CNN

Sounds great in theory but I want to see how it looks in scenarios where fast motion artifacts could now stick around for multiple frames.

You can already see that in their own short examples of Cyberpunk 2077 that things like (fast moving) particles are flickering or just disappear.

What's going on here by the way? I thought everyone was of the opinion here that Frame Generation sucks, due to all the artifacts it produces and making the image softer overall? Now it's great again?

I think there's definitely potential for this technology, but they need to implement it not afterwards but during frame rendering maybe. So things like fast moving objects/particles can be rendered on top of it somehow. Of course that means it's not automatically compatible with every piece of software..

FG is a good workaround when it’s needed if framerates are dropping too much. But for example in Forbidden West when looking at the UI in the left corner where you have items it can produce ghosting from the UI. Or could I should say, I haven’t played it in awhile to confirm if it’s been updated. And that’s with 1 bonus frame, now there are up to 3.

yoooooooo... I really wonder how this will turn out to look in action outside of their specific examples.
I hope the beta they mention is starting soon
Yep, it looks beautiful. Can't wait to get my hands on this. Is there an estimated release window for the New Transformer Resolution?

Guys, forget upscaling and frame gen a minute, there's huge megabombs

The bolded was not even presented in the conference and are huge game changers for path tracing

Neural radiance cache path tracing / RTX Mega Geometry / Neural Texture Compression / RTX Neural faces

RTX Mega Geometry accelerates BVH building, making it possible to ray trace up to 100x more triangles than today’s standard.

RTX Neural Radiance Cache uses AI to learn multi-bounce indirect lighting to infer an infinite amount of bounces after the initial one to two bounces from path traced rays. This offers better path traced indirect lighting and performance versus path traced lighting without a radiance cache. NRC is now available through the RTX Global Illumination SDK, and will be available soon through RTX Remix and Portal with RTX.

They've basically rebuilt EVERYTHING

The shader pipeline with neural shaders
The BVH structure with Mega geometry
The path tracing solution with neural cache radiance
The upscaling technology by switching to transformer model

Buggy Loop Buggy Loop
And Reflex 2 will reduce lag even more. Good work from Nvidia.

The PS5 Pro has 300 TOPs of INT8 performance for ML acceleration. For the PS5 I make the figure 21 TOPS (XSX 49 TOPS). For comparison, the 2060 has ~100 TOPs.

So, no I don't think XeSS is viable on the PS5.

AMD are in deep shit man... Even if the 9070 came in at 449$ it would still be a hard sell.

The improvements to DLSS and Reflex (minus multi frame gen) being back ported to all previous cards and games is a very strong proposition.
It will be impossible to sell not hard.

Now AMD is saying to their long term users and fans that if you have bought RX 6XXX or 7XXX your are totally fucked ,because we are launching RX 9XXX with exclusive FSR 4, and users
will be think why i did not go for RTX 3xxx or RTX 4xxx or RTX 2xxx. AMD has lost all those users who use to hold GPU at least for 4 to 5 year.

now Nvidia GPU will be termed as future investment.

AMD's whole messaging was that ML based upscaling was not needed, so I doubt anyone seriously expected such a feature was coming to RDNA 2/3. And FSR 4 works through the FSR 3.1 API, so games are not locked out of the old method.

the best part is that you can force it through the driver in all games, so no waiting for Devs to patch shit, or to mod stuff or replace .dll files

To clarify you can only force it it games which support DLSS, not all games. So you're taking a game what only supports DLSS 2, and then forcing DLSS 4.

GPU prices are ridiculous but Nvidia really delivers when its about technology.

Also their "All RTX" card philosophy will yield more card sale for them, mark my words. If you become consumer friendly (to some degree) the consumers automatically want to support you. So on that matter, it is a good sign.

Also, yes yes, I know that new FG will exclusive to the 5000 series but making everything else available to all RTX cards is a good strategy.
