Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 | Final Previews are up

There are actually five ways to save in KCD.

1. Saviour Schnapps
2. Sleeping in a Bed
3. Bathhouses
4. Quest/Story Progression
5. Exit Save

And correct me if i wrong but first 3 cost money, now i don't think it not possible to use those but still saving should be basic function imo and should not be tied to item/cost money, and they later on did add the exit save so no issue now.

Sleeping in a bed - can cost money, doesnt have to....there were beds literally everywhere. And even renting a room in a tavern didnt cost a fortune. The economy in the game wasnt very hard imho.

Saviour schnaps wasnt exactly cheap, thats true....but due to the alchemy stuff and you being able to brew everything yrself, you could use that even in yr favour and becoming the ultimate drug seller of Bohemia. :messenger_winking:

It was a great system imho and it really reinforced the choices and consequences aspect. When you were infiltrating a house or a camp you could not rely on F5 F9 as soon as you were spotted, which you can usually do in all these type of games. When you were suddenly attacked by a bandit in a forest you were really stressed of losing your life (and progress) and so were ultra focused on the combat or the attempt to flee. It basically nuked every possibility of save scumming and forced you to live with your decisions, making the game ultra immersive.

I am so glad they did not listen to complaints and decided to stick to their guns on this front for the sequel

It's 2 Groschen lol. But I'm pretty sure you can haggle some down to 1, if you are real cheap

In KCD1 becoming wealthy wasn't very hard, just to had to take some time to develop Henry's skills. And it became super easy with the DLC allowing you to build your settlement, because eventually you could earn stable profits from it.

I generally don't have an issue with the save system, however you technically could cheat by saving on exit & restarting the game (and without losing that save). I imagine it will be even easier with KCD2 consider pretty much everyone owns an SSD drive and the loading times aren't such a big deal.

While i agree with some of the points you made, not having some kind of "free" saving method is not something i like, as i said.. when they introduced the save upon exist, is was my preferred way of saving, so i hope the sequel at least have save when exist option.

never beat KCD, my save is over 50 hours but it's been a few years since I've touched it

debating whether to:

1. just pick up where my save is and try to relearn the mechanics, having forgot the entire story
2. start the game from the beginning and hope I finish it by the time KCD2 comes out
3. just YouTube the story and dive in at KCD2

But the thing is not just that, i agree it's doable for sure, but think you are in the middle of exploring and didn't plan a head and out of schnapps.. now i need to stop playing, what do i do? go to town which could take several minutes, or maybe fast travel and hope not dying in the middle... again it's doable no doubt, but having a saving method that let you save when done for the day is a must for me, I'm happy that it was added and also for the sequel. :)

That was part of the fun for me - made the journey feel much more real and consequential. I do understand about suddenly needing to quit playing, though.

Warhorse uploaded all the cutscenes as a movie to their channel. If I was in your situation I would watch that up until to the point where my save is to refresh and continue playing from there.

How do I find out where I am story wise?
I assume you do not have a memory of a goldfish and as you watch, you will remember :p
Plus you have a journal in game that shows you what quests you are on, there is detailed description.

...but if you played at launch and your saves are from some version 1.0 or some such, I would definitely start a new game if only to avoid any incompatibilities between latest patch and old saves.

If you just watch it, you'll recognize sequences and when you stop recognizing them - should be about where you left off.

I think the game's incredible and that you should just start over, but that's just me.
thanks guys. I usually game stoned so I pretty much do have the memory of a goldfish. it greatly contributes to the problem I've found myself with.

I play RPGs very very slow and my first run was hardcore. I think that even though I'm at 54 hours I didn't do much. I would wager I'm still super early in the story.

does this help you guys figure out where I am story wise? here are my active quests and completed quests:

Thats still very early in the game. Yr active main mission (Keeping the peace) is Nr. 6 from 30. You just arrived in Rattay.

If you are normal guy who needs to work daily....it could be already a bit too late to finish this game before KCD2 comes out in two weeks. On the other hand KCD2 isnt running away...you can buy it/play it whenever you want.

That is a very early mission. You probably don't even have a horse yet. If you are still in rattay it's early game

There's going to be a 6th way. You can hook up a camera and it will save every time you pull a barve. It will unfortunately delete all your save files if you misgender another character though.

thanks, I usually explore every little nook and cranny before moving onto a new area, so I play these games super slow. again that is a 54 hour save.

is there any way to figure out which 2 negative traits I picked when I went hardcore? can't seem to figure that out

I'm guessing I spent a lot of time grinding crap early on

also pretty sure I have a horse. there is no fast travel on hardcore so I thin I made sure to find a way to get a horse asap

Me too...i am slow ass player as well when it comes to these huge games, but its usually by purpose just to max out the experience.

Traits should be all visible unter the "player" tab.

Haha holy shit, you've played 54 hours and is still on I'd say the first proper post prologue mission, damn that's impressive xD

If I generally don't like realism as an absolute goal in design and slowness in general, do you think I would like 1 or 2

Not sure, there are several game mechanics that you may find not suitable for your style, things like constantly need to eat and drink, having to learn to read, fast travel can be dangerous and you might be killed, and probably some other things i've missed, might be wise to try the first game as it goes down in sales to $5 regularly.
Still an amazing experience.

The realism is there to enhance immersion. It is not goal in itself. Game is designed to transport you to medieval bohemia and make you feel like you are there. E.g. you don't have to "constantly eat and sleep" but you have to do it like a human being would, if you do not want to suffer negative debuffs (e.g. if you get several days without sleep, your eyes will literally start closing (screen darkens randomly) and you can fall asleep eventually regardless.

Will Giant Bomb, Nextlander and Gerstmann review KCD2? Or will virtue signaling keep going?

No they won't. Jeff Gerstmann isn't one to play these types of games anyway, I don't think KCD1 would be up his street.

Giantbomb... Whoever is left there has 0 interest for me.

Nextlander.. I do enjoy watching Vinny/Brad/Alex, but I don't think they will play this. They have some stupid stick up their ass about KCD1. They really think the game was made with a racist mindset. If only they actually tried playing KCD1, they would see it's an amazing game. Pathetic bullshit.

Fucking idiots.

Why, you want him to follow your transition to sloppyjosephine?

Cute cupcake, but no.

The woke and DEI is there, all the gaslighting in the world won't change that. And what's his face at the dev who was a total asshole in his online responses handling it only made it worse. Now the dollar will decide, and that will be that.

Cool, so now you can stop spamming your dumb drama shit in every KCD thread. As you say, dollar will decide.

Hardcore Mode comes in Spring ! I think I will buy the game day one to support the devs, play a few hours and then put it to rest untile the hardcore mode update

I really need most the no GPS map icon and stripped down HUD/compass. Hopefully that stuff will be modded shortly after launch, then I would not need to wait for hardcore (and would keep that for second playthrough).

In honor of my bff Denton Denton who is my biggest fan in these posts, here is some more facts that go against his/her/it/they/those gaslighting comments that the way they acted was no big deal and they didnt do anything wrong by trying to be disingenuous and hiding the woke content

Right now, Monster Hunter Wilds - possibly the biggest release of the year, aside from GTA6 - is number 16, while KCD2 is number 20.

When hardware and F2P games are removed, KCD is in 13th place, 3 places behind Monster Hunter.

Now, I am not disputing that some morons might boycott the game because their fee fees are hurt by one optional extra roleplaying option, but it does not seem like the game will be a Veilguard level failure.

What are your expectations in regards to Steam CCU peak?
