Multiple sources are stating Nintendo Switch 2 Reveal is on January 16th

I always dreamed the would turn it into a 3v3 or 5v5 arena brawler/shooter. Call me crazy, but the first had the feel of going 1v1 in an acrobatic fps way more than a fighting game, IMO.

Give me the same basic mechanics in Halo-eque arenas with respawning limited-use power arms distributed around the map, and allow for the grab move to be used for traversal (by grappling statues). All in all, I think it would make for an insanely fun and chaotic multiplayer experience. Would work really well with the rumored mousecon too.

Using that setup as your base, the campaign could be a corridor brawler taking out mobs capped off by boss fights in those same arenas. It could even have co-op.

Never going to happen, but I can dream...
As someone who religiously played Quake 3, I cannot agree more. Arena-style shooters in multiplayer is something I strongly prefer to the CoD-style that we'll get nowadays. And an Arena-style brawler is exactly right up my alley. Maybe Nintendo will surprise everyone by making Arms 2 for Switch 2.

It was me, I have first hand insider knowledge!

If it doesn't happen tomorrow, it wouldn't mean that I was wrong, it just means that Nintendo changed their entire plan at the last minute, making me even more right.

Late October Surprise
Hmmm, it's starting to look suspicious. Besides, with the release of Donkey Kong, Nintendo doesn't usually mess with release windows.

We'll see, but I'm starting to doubt the 16th.
no fucking way it's tomorrow the reveal
I'm starting to think that the reveal will be shortened to the console release

Or maybe just next week... once DK is out. After Thursday, there's no chance of a Friday announcement.

And Nintendo is no longer in the same situation as the Wii U, they're still the kings of the market. I think they're annoyed about moving on to the Switch 2.

Well, maybe they'll announce it in a few hours, who knows.

Yeah, looks like Nate is full of shit.

I was suspicious when they said Halo and Flight Sim would be on the Switch 2. Lol. How fucking dumb must I be to believe that?

What is the point of this device since Steam Deck, ROG ALLY other handhelds are out?
is it for diehard nintendo fans who want to play the same games, restricted to one platform with worse controls and performance?

There will be a crack and emulation out within a year of it being out.
It's simple, there's a market for it.

You may not like the same family friendly characters utilised game after game, but clearly with switch pushing closer to 160mil devices sold, there's a big market for such a product.

Whilst I didn't buy Switch myself, there are many must haves for Nintendo fans on the device.

Will lightning strike twice and Switch 2 is as successful as its predecessor, only time will tell

Yeah I guess thats my point, the switch has a die hard following I know, there are alot of really good games that are locked to the platform but the flip side is the people buying a switch 8 years ago or the kids that got one are 8 years older, are they not maturing into different games?

Is the idea to hit the younger generation of gamers who want to play fortnite, minecraft etc, those guys are playing them on tablets already.

I already said this yesterday, it won't be revealed this week. Nintendo isn't going to just drop a Direct or announce one for the coming day.

By the way, if I was Nintendo I wouldn't do it this week either. Main reason is to let the audience believe that the leaks aren't true (regarding announce time).

completely irrelevant handhelds

ROG Ally is roughly $800CAD while a Switch OLED with Mario Kart and a year of online is $500.

you really think the general populace aka mommy and daddy are going out of their way to wait a year to download and emulate cracked versions of Mario Kart 9 on their ROG Ally ?

Just being (hopefully) completely backwards compatible already makes the device a nice value proposition for new buyers and people that already have a Switch.

But I'm sure you've seen the games and the Switch 2's capabilities already.

As much as I like my steamdeck, the process of docking the thing and setting up local multiplayer kinda sucks with it. It's just not as streamlined.
Even the sleep mode can be a bit iffy at times.

I’m curious about the actual hardware reveal. What are they going to show here?
They don’t talk specs usually, so will it be: hey you know that thing we announced a bunch of years ago and has been for sale ever since? Yea? We made another one of those. Thank you very much and goodbye.

You don't grow out of good games.

Come on Nintendo, give me something to get excited about. Gaming fucking sucks at the moment. I need more Nintendo goodness! A new Mario kart. A new Mario 3d platformer. Some new Metroid prime please on switch 2! Hurry the fuck UP!!!
This.
We need some sort of shake up.
This generation so far has been one giant yawn.
I bet that's what the Nintendo Alarmo is for, to wake perpetually bored gamers who have fallen asleep at their controllers playing yet another remaster of a remaster.

It’ll show exactly the same stuff as the Switch 1 reveal trailer.

I'm quite skeptical. A common practice is to announce the announcement first, specially with a next console. So at most tomorrow we could get the announcement for the future conference

In the same way there is a point to PS5 even though PCs already exist.
Which is mostly pointless for Switch 2. Everybody already knows the general concept of Switch.

I feel like what Nintendo needs to do to differentiate Switch 2 from Switch 1 requires some talking...not just showing.
I wouldn't be shocked if there is some kind of differentiating factor shown in the trailer.

But the main point will be "here's our next hardware, what it looks it, what it's called and what month it comes out".

The talking will be done in the showcase.

My fear is that any differentiating factor shown in a reveal trailer will be gimmick-like.

Nintendo is still a company that feels like it needs to show off a gimmick regardless of it adding any benefit or having any actual demand...
