DLSS 4 (the new Super Resolution and Ray Reconstruction models) will be compatible with ALL RTX GPUs

so now with dlss4 preset k, is the advice to set ingame DLSS to balanced now? Previously I always set it to quality
try it out on your end and compare it on your screen. Sometimes seeing things in motion exposes things you won't catch in still images or on YouTube. It does seem like balanced is greatly improved. I just never touch the setting since I just would rather go for the higher fidelity

A bit of an abstract question, but what kind of DLSS preset would you compare PSSR to, specifically in a game like FF7 Rebirth?
1440p dlss performance easily clears the old 1440p dlss quality for me

I used to find 1440p dlss quality really blurry but now even 1440p dlss performance looks so clear in motion

considering PSSR is still catching up to the old DLSS, I guess you can guess my answer

I haven’t got the faintest idea as I don’t have Rebirth on my Pro, so comparing is difficult. Plus, all those shimmering issues seem to have been resolved for the most part, so even DF’s old videos are kind of useless to compare.

It really is crazy how good this is. Been playing around with some other games. Currently Indy and suddenly I can play it with path-tracing + everything maxed out with DLSS performance+ frame gen and it looks great even in motion. It really didn't come close to this before. I'm kind of reconsidering upgrading GPU this gen now

I wish it had come sooner. A couple of hard hitting games like that I wish I would have played with better performances. Wukong & Indiana,.

I kind of gave up half way in cyberpunk 2077 a while ago so that's one to revisit soon with the DLC as well.

If it performs good, why upgrade, especially with the GPU prices now. My 3080 Ti might last a while longer. Very happy they didn't lock this tech to Blackwell.

What GPU do you have?

Some people say DLSS Performance is good enough with DLSS4, not many artifacts.
Tested it in Witcher 3 remastered last night and it didn't seem to be the case at all for me. There were still noticeable annoying artefacts and shimmering when using DLSS Performance at 4K. I had to put it back on Balanced.

I was surprised because I'd been led to believe the new Performance mode looked better than the old Quality mode. It's possible I haven't set it up correctly in the Nvidia app because Performance mode looked pretty much the same as it always has to me.

The games I wanted to upgrade for were these path tracing titles as well. Moving to 4k really upped the requirements. I tried Indy before and it looks nice without path-tracing but I mentally left it for later.

With the prices and difficulties with availability and with DLSS Performance looking so good I have a bit of a hard time motivating an upgrade.

What GPU do you have?
4080 running at 4k with Frame gen.

Im still quite early but getting like 75 - 110 FPS after the first zone in the jungle which was a bit heavier. Also drops a bit in some cutscenes, but I can live with it. Feels good enough for me in such a heavy game. I have noticed some situational artifacts, maybe due to frame gen at a bit low base fps, but very much a big upgrade from what I saw before DLSS4 for sure in terms of how clean the image is.

Also in FFVII Rebirth I noticed a much improved image since upgrading DLSS version. But there I run Quality.

Oh you're well equipped to skip Blackwell then

3080 Ti is a bit more rough. But I ain't fighting bots and scalpers to score a card. Kinda glad I can now put into performance mode and it still looks so nice.

Motion clarity is better than TAA (thus "native") now for me too with transformer model.

It already supports DLSS4. It was among the games mentioned in the last patch along with Spider-Man 2 and Cyberpunk.
I don't think i saw the option ingame to change the dlss model from cnn to autobots.

Unless they released new nvidia drivers for the game.

I think it might have just shipped with DLSS4 considering it was released after. I don’t recall there being a setting to switch between Transformer and CNN in Spider-Man 2, but I’m not 100% sure.

Cyberpunk used to have DLSS3, so they just added the toggle.

Wait, so i'm already playing with the transformer model and you can't chose the cnn?

I'm never gonna install the app and i'm too noob for the other methods so the ingame toggle is my only hope to finally try this fucking new model :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

Only see preset J (and not preset K) in the nvidia app, when trying to use it for Red Dead Redemption 2.

Also maybe something in my settings is really bogging down fps, on my RTX 3080, but only getting like 40 fps average at 4K ultra settings with everything max. Old videos on YouTube show at least 50-55 fps average.

So I guess this means 4070 is viable for 1440p with path tracing and DLSS4 Performance (720p native res upscaled to 1440p)...
For the most part, yes. You're not going to run into VRAM issues at that res. And from a few videos I've seen that have tested; a 4070 with DLSS 4 is totally viable. Even without framegen.

I don't mind framegen (as long as it doesn't produce many artifacts) and with nVidia Reflex the input lag should be better than a console.
I did a few tests after the latest Cyberpunk update. DLSS FG version 2.0 is much better than I thought. I used to see an extra 9-12ms input lag with FGx2 in Cyberpunk, but now it's only 1-4ms.

Less demanding location (badlands), just after the start of the game. I'm looking at the radio tower and my car.

Raster, high settings:
-1440p native TAA 150fps 17ms latency (LDAT data)
-DLSS Quality 190fps 16ms
-DLSSQ + FG 281 fps 19ms.

RT shadows & reflections, high settings:
-1440p native TAA 109fps 22ms
-DLSS Quality 151fps 18ms
-DLSSQ + FG 240fps 22ms

Ultra RT, high settings:
-1440p native TAA 81fps 26ms
-DLLS Quality 126fps 22ms
-DLSSQ + FG 207fps 23ms

Psycho RT, high settings:
-1440p native TAA 78fps 28ms
-DLSS Quality 123fps 20ms
-DLSSQ + FG 203fps 22ms

Path Tracing, high settings:
-1440p native TAA 50fps 38ms
-DLSS Quality 87fps 28ms
-DLSSQ + FG 149fps 30ms
-DLSS Performance 121fps 23ms
-DLSSP + FG 200fps 24ms

Demanding location (Kubaki) during the rain.

Raster, high settings preset
-1440p native TAA 140fps 21ms
-DLSS quality 189fps 18ms
-DLSSQ + FG 275fps 22ms

RT shadows & reflections:
-1440p native TAA 95fps 26ms
-DLSS Quality 138fps 24ms
-DLSSQ + FG 221fps 26ms

Ultra RT:
-1440p native TAA, 60fps 36ms
-DLSS Quality, 100fps 26ms
-DLSSQ + FG, 171fps 29ms

Psycho RT:
-1440p native TAA 55fps 40ms
-DLSS Quality 97fps 26ms
-DLSSQ + FG, 165fps 30ms

Path Tracing:
-1440p native TAA, 35fps 55ms
-DLSS Quality, 70fps 31ms
-DLSSQ + FG, 123fps 37ms
-DLSS Performance 101fps 26ms
-DLSSp + FG, 171fps 30ms

So I tested some games with new frame gen and SR and differences are for sure game dependent. In Starfield difference between DLSS3 and 4 is BIG, transformer model is much better and game is super clean. In Silent Hill 2 old frame gen is dogshit and new version fixes a lot of artifacts.

In most other games DLSS4 is usually better but there are cases when some things are worse in new model (it's in beta anyway I think). Good stuff overall!
