Years of woke games really fucked up our perception if this is what we pass for cute faces nowadays :lollipop_grinning_sweat: :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

I guess they are trying to depict realistic medieval beauty because these are kinda rough:lollipop_grinning_sweat:
You may have some wrong perception of what beauty means. Hollywood actresses and Victoria Secret models are not the standard or bare minimum.

What's your favorite improvements over the first game so far? For me, the combat feeling more smooth and the NPCs being more reactive. Also, the world seems more changing? Near the first town there's a little camp with wine and two dudes practicing sword fight, but I went there a few days later and it was a bandit camp instead.

For me the main thing is that the game feels less janky and clunky. As much as I loved the first one, the character movement and certain interactions always felt too orthopedic. This one is much better in that sense although not perfect, there is still room for improvement. Also I really like the UI, is so much better, and the graphics feel more realistic and complex too. I love as well the fact that we finally get to see npcs riding horses and there seems to be more reactivity in the world.

So far is a good improvement. The only thing I feel Warhorse should improve is facial animations during cutscenes. Witcher 3 released like 10 years ago or so and the facial animations feel better than this game

Hopefully they sell enough copies to improve this in the future

So I have a 4070ti. I Just changed. On the Nvidia app > KCD2 options > DLSS overide- model presets> change from Default to Model J ? Then DLSS overide- Super resolution change from default to DLAA ?

This will sort of brute force DLSS4 giving me more frames? Already getting 70-100 but more the merrier.
Just set it to defaults in Nvidia app and set the DLSS in-game.
DLAA is going to give you lower frame rates because it doesn't render the game lower.

Try Quality. If it's not enough FPS, try Balanced and if that's not enough either, try Performance.

If these faces were in other woke games the whole entirety of gaf would shit on them from great heighs, let's not even try to say otherwise.

You would make more sense by saying that they tried to depict medieval beaty instead of teaching me what "real beauty" is.

I'm not gonna play the hypocrite game just because kc2 is beloved inside gaf.

Was feeling less immersed than in KCD1 due to the map, so today I'll be playing with this:

should i get this game now or wait for few patches? is it buggy?
only bug I've found so far (10 hours of gameplay) are some invisible bushes while walking down a path.

Every open-world game ever made has bugs, period. Having said that, it's been remarkably smooth and bug free on my Pro after 10+ hours so whether you get it now or later depends on what else coming out in the short term you might be interested in because this is a looooooong game and demands your time to get the most out of it.

The game is incredible so far but I forgot how annoyingly "simulation" this franchise is. Went to talk to NPCs having an argument, my clothes were dirty so I couldn't pass skill checks even though my character is invested into speech and they all jumped me and stole all my money and clothes.

This was early in the game where money is precious, so I had to reload only to find out it hadn't auto saved in two hours. Now I have to painfully redo most of the first village story again. Ugh.

Just use Save & Quit, like others mentioned. It saves super fast and reloads/Continue in about 10 seconds. It's exactely the same as a normal save anywhere anytime system except that it overrights the previous Save & Quit slot. It works very well, you won't really miss the normal save.

The game is great but i can see 2 things that could trivialize the game going forward:

-picking plants and making potions to sell is way to easy and i can see ruining the economy of the game, i'm just at the start and i could make infinite money by brewing potions with the plants around the first village, what do you think?
I guess the counterpoint is that making potions is time consuming but not more time consuming than walking stealth at night and trying to steal things from people's homes or wandering around the map picking fights to get loot to sell.

-are future enemies gonna punish me for just staying on the defensive, parrying and reposting all day long? because for now i'm kinda untouchable except when i fuck up because i'm still not used with the combat, just wait the green shield icon, block, wait for the blue icon and attack in the opposite direction and it work 70% of times and enemy can't touch me because i never swing first so i'm never open to counters, and enemy in groups attack once at the time, at least for now.
And it doesn't even require much precise timing at all to use this tecnique, even with a controller.

I'm having issues with the combat too. It seems to really a bit too much on timing. Parrying works fine but then the ripost attack rarely lands (the enemies usually defend the ripost well) and then they ripost themselves and screw me over. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Can't beat Tomcat in a fight at all. On the plus side there aren't many situations in the game so far (20 hours in) where you are are forced to fight and even then you can just try to stay alive long enough for your buddies to do the job. But yeah, combat feels a bit like QTEs, which I dislike. But the rest of the game is so good that it hasn't affected my enjoyment much.

Question for the people who played and enjoyed the first one like me : when I look at the gameplay so far it looks exactly like if its first game so for now I can’t seem to find incentives to buy / play it . What makes this one worth it beyond being more of the same ? I’m just wondering if I should buy it or not

It's very similar. If you disliked the first I doubt you'll like this one.

I'm not even looking to fight unless it is forced upon me in the first 20hrs. That is just a recipe to get the shit beat out of you. I'm building all other stats

I'm avoiding combat as much as possible. Been working well so far.

I'd just want to say that Combat Training 1 and 2 with Tomcat is essential if you want to take advantage of all what the new battle system have to offer - also helps immensely when you start getting into fights with better opponents. Everyone should do them as soon as they can.

I can't beat Tomcat at a fight :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Is the wedding quest on a timer?

Nope.

It's a bit better but if the "trick" i discovered is gonna be valid for the rest of the game i can see becoming super easy very fast, so if it was a matter of difficulty, this one seems way easier (i didn't played much of the first).

The feeling and visuals still resemble 2 guys taking turn trying to reacreate an hama duel in a theatre, not a real, gritty, dynamic, punchy, gorey fight like other games with melee first person combat (chivarly 2, mordhau, half sword etc. etc.)

At the very least is less annoying to deal with than the first game right from the beginning because henry is not completely hopeless.

What "trick"?

Strange, i slept in the bed of the old woman without paying the debt and nothing happened, maybe because i was doing a quest for her??!

I did that once too. I think nothing happened to you in that situation because she didn't go to (her) bed herself.

Well you can get searched for stolen goods in the first game but so far nothing like that has happened. People have told me to move on when they see me around their homes at night.

I have had someone rat me out for trying to break in to a home I ran off but was caught which resulted in a fine.

That bitch doesn't know what she's in for the next time I play

They do search you on occasion in this game too. Once it happened to me while fast travelling through the main town, but I chose the option to just keep moving without stopping for the guards' request. Did that, no problem.

how are the straight romance scenes though

Haven't seen any. I suppose they're like in the first game. It would be cool if you could eventually chose who to marry or something. Like, propose to who you want and go to the local priest or something. Maybe some could connect more deeply with story too. RPGs need to put more effort into romance elements. And there should be a lot more variety too. Two options or so is way to limited.

I dread dying. I died twice fighting dogs. Changed my play style, stole a horse, and then died at some dogs again. Said screw it, went around the castle, murdered a guy who had a green tunic on, made the wrong choice and gave the guy who saw me, all the stuff I worked hard to steal.

When it works, it works, and when it doesn’t.. it feels like it takes forever getting the stride back. They aren’t making me want to be the good guy with the game’s limitations for saving progress.

Use the Save & Quit option, like previously mentioned. See my first reply in this post. It really is that easy and fast to use, it doesn't bother me one bit. It's like 10 seconds or so.

I got locked in a loading screen once when I was in a loot screen and an NPC tried to force conversation with me which made me have to ALT F4, but that's only the one so far after about 20 hours I've had.

Are you guys super poor as well? I feel I dont need the money that much.
Yeah I felt that at first but now I got about 1k and hover around that when taking selling items and repairing things into the equation. It'll get better and better the more high level gear you can loot

Do the first one then go out questing for a bit and come after a few hours, you'll get it (I didn't find him very hard but I spent tonnes of hours in KCD1). Use perfect block and counterattack!

Did the first one, so I'll come back after improving stats & skills a bit. The perfect block followed by strike wasn't working on him when I tried. He defends way to well and then hits me as soon as my ripost fails. Dunno what I'äm doing wrong. It seems the combat requires precise timing and I suck at that shit.

I robbed the clothes merchant in the main town. He was a snobish asshole the first interaction I had with him so that was a good excuse to rob him, given the circumstances at the begining of the game.

You might be underleveled as well then if you do not engage in combat that much. With that said, strike on the opposite side of his guard when an opening presents itself, also don't be afraid to just perfect block without counter attacking since that will help you regen stamina.

It's not timing, for the reposte you have use the opposite direction, like you parry high, then go left or right, it doesn't always work but if you stay in the defensive you are almost untouchable even against multiple enemies.

The timing is super generous.

Btw this was the trick, stay defensive and only block and reposte, you just have to be super patient.

He doesn't have that yet, that's what you learn from beating Combat Training 2

I didn't trained yet but i can already do that, like i clearly see blocking in one direction and then attacking from another, maybe it gets even faster when you learn the skill.

It doesn't always work tho but it's probably me fucking up with the stick input.

I think they teach you this during the spar with hans.

Hum, the perfect block followed by ripost is there since the Prologue. Or is it something else we're talking about here?

What you have from the start where you get a Green Shield icon for a perfect block and then a Blue Crossed Sword icon for counter attack is NOT a Riposte. A riposte is unblockable and it's what Tomcat teach you if you beat him in a duel. ( A riposte is done by pressing the ATTACK button when the green shield comes up and demands much more accuracy than a simple perfect block and having your sword at the correct stance)

Oh yeah i had the suspect i was using the wrong term, my bad, but it still work wonders, i never lost a duel by being on the defensive.

But wow having that shit unblockable sound pretty OP...

Can be but it demands quite a lot from the player. Especially if you meet experienced sword fighters cause they will change their stance in the last minute so you have to be quite reactive to get it. You easily get overwhelmed and one fuck up can mean death cause if you miss it you get comboed, risk and reward.

Without that skill it has been smooth sailing for me until now so i probably didn't encountered any advanced fighter yet, just bandits with shit weapons (but decent armours).

Guys, for those of you that are on pc I have found something very interesting

If you use DLSS4 with the nvidia app, reduce the Sharpness in the settings menu from the game otherwise you'll get artefacts and aliasing.

I just did the test and it's 100% reproducible so if you want to avoid it, remember this tip

I think Luipadre Luipadre mentioned in a previous post something similar too
How are you guys even able to use the DLSS4 Transformer model in KCD2. If I try to add it in the Nvidia app it automatically resets to "not supported" within a second.

And no wonder since KCD2 is not supported at all by the Nvidia app:

So what kind of process are people using to make it work, or are there are there some sort of misunderstanding here?

I just added the exe of the game and it appeared in the nvidia app. Make sure to select the right one!

Damn, when I added it manually in the Nvidia app it didn't work, always automatically reset to "not supported". I spent a lot of time on this getting frustrated last night.

But now when I removed it from the list and hit "refresh" to scan for programs KCD2 suddenly showed up in the list by itself, logo and all... Jeez..

Appreciate the reply, it sort of mentally jolted me in the right direction :D

combat is already janky that a third person mod I imagine would make the combat far worse.

I too would prefer this with a more robust third person combat approach. Games like this or chivalry 2 always feel like dog shit to play. Games like Skyrim feel a bit better because of magic and the more arcade approach to combat.

For me I’m currently in a hover mode on this title but with the weekend coming I think I may pick it up on PC for the sole reason of mods fixing issues like the save system or tedious crap like hunger.

For real. I watched Lirik play and damn, the save system and encumbrance can go to hell. Hunger and needing to shower too. It's a PC exclusive pretty much. I'd NEED mods to enjoy it.

I don't get it. You want zero impact combat like Skyrim? You can call the combat in KCD clunky or whatever but at least it has impact and weight.

I appreciate the save system because as a classic PC gamer I used to compulsively save before every possible event and reload whenever I didn't achieve the perfect result.

So since I began playing this game (and others), I've tried to stick with going with the flow. It makes the experience more authentic for me. I understand why they designed it this way since it kind of aligns with the absence of a mini-map.

The cleanliness system, for some reason, I'm fine with as it adds to the immersion without being intrusive, there are troughs everywhere so-to-speak. The eating mechanics, however, are not really my preference, but it's also not intrusive enough to bother me much.

Did you mean to quote me? I didn't talk any crap about the combat. I think it looks good.

Yeah it says that we are not easy to gaslight when people want to rewrite what beauty means, no matter how much they try nowadays.
The women in this game looks like men with wigs, it actually complements the theme of the game quite nicely with the Henry butt sex scenes and feminist Musa of Mali who educates you about how to respect women :messenger_tears_of_joy:
