I'm sorry but in the opening the maid woman working at the tavern has some of the worst VO. I'm pretty sure the cutscene VO and the non cutscene VO are different actresses, with the later doing the worst impression of an English accent I've ever heard.
Yep, I thought she was Welsh at first then it became some weird mish-mash of accents.
The moustached guy you brawl with (he's in the preview videos) has a bad Scottish accent too whereas the lesser NPC (his mate sitting behind him) has a way more convincing/native accent.

How can I make the nVidia app see the game? It is not in the list, even if I specifically added KCD2 folder and refresh, it only finds KCD1.
And with all other games, DLSS override says unsupported. WTF?
Do I need to reinstall it or something?

Reinstalling NVIDIA App worked for me, before it wouldn't find the game on its own and even if I manually added the executable, I couldn't use DLSS override. Only after reinstalling NVIDIA App the game showed up and I can use DLSS override.

So also just a tip, save and exit works sora like a regular save. Been using that and its about as close to a regular any time save you'll get and it's super quick to load right back in.
Nah, getting in and out of a game just to save is beyond idiotic. I dont know why devs have such huge problems with "free saving". I mean the "schnaps" thing to save is kinda cute and new. But right at the beginning I dont even have schnaps. :messenger_pensive:

Oh I never said it was a good decision lol I agree with you just saying, it's there. But yea I don't get devs who have some save fetish and want to play games with it, just let people save.

Anyone else starting this while never playing the first one? I heard the jank and combat in it was terrible. Problem is it’s a direct sequel and the narrative is key, so I’m not sure what to do. Maybe watch a YouTube summary?
I skipped the first game, but I can honestly say that I haven’t felt lost playing this sequel. It includes enough flashbacks to help fill in the pieces as you go.

Not playing The Witcher 1 or 2 didn’t hinder my enjoyment of Witcher 3 in the slightest, and I reckon this is similar.

I'm using performance. You won't notice the difference in image quality unless you're squinting, unlike other games in which e.g. textures or vegetation density are actually noticeable. In this game the differences aren't obvious.
Are you noticing a lot of screen tear in performance mode? I'm trying to figure out if it's something to do with my setup that's causing it or whether that's just how the game is, all the graphics breakdown videos don't seem to mention it at all

It's not massively effecting my playthough, but it was glaring how much there was, especially in the pond area when the game first starts, and travelling on horseback in general

Nope, not noticing any screen tearing at all. Maybe it's a TV thing? I haven't even been using game mode on the TV (I never do), so I think VRR isn't even engaged.

The only "issue" I got was that the screen where you can load the game etc (after you boot the game) was flickering once every 30 seconds or so when I booted the game for the first time. Dunno if it's doing the same now, but I'll check when I make my second game play session today.

Yesterday I was bragging about how easy the combat was in the first one and now I cant even beat Hans ass in the first training match. :messenger_pensive: Need to try harder today evening.

Btw, mods like "unlimited saving", "instant herb picking", "reticle for bows" are already on Nexus. I am pretty sure I am going for these mods. This "save and exit" option really annoys me already.
Yep, I will be definitely be using these plus lock picking mod and probably some sort of crime system modification mod as that seems too well “informed” for a medieval time without any quick communications.

Weird, I'll have to have a play around with my tv settings when I get home

Is the folder KCD2 installed added to the app? I had created a new Steam location and forgot to add the source so had the same issue with other games before.

Or the app might be glitching and needs to be wiped/reinstalled.

I played from the beginning for five hours last night, and I love it. It's KCD1 with more polish.

Also, it is a slow start, but I'm digging it. It took about four hours for the game to really open up. Then again, I played Farkle for an hour lol

I think the power curve is going to be great, too: Henry is weak and I'm looking forward to getting him OP.

Oh, and the framerate at Ultra, 1440p, DLSS quality on my 3080 is on par with KCD1 while looking way better. Pretty sweet!

Thanks guys, seems like the app is glitched out. Gonna reinstall it asap.

Just FYI you get Schnapps recipe, as well as free schnappses (I think 2) even before the prologue ends, from Bozhena. This is really a non-issue. Game autosaves during prologue every 10-15 minutes and then you get the recipe and get brewing.

I was watching a few reviews and you have to be careful with auto saves. It can auto save right after wrong dialogue choice and at start of combat.

Especially when a game is still a bit buggy, some easy to use save system is gold worth. Have usually no problem with bugs (as long as they are not game breaking), when I can easy reload a save which usually fixes stuff in 90% of all cases.

Yep, I grabbed a mod for saves (and stupid lock picks) in first KCD asap and planning to the same in KCD2 plus some other QoL mods when I start in a couple of weeks after finishing Rebirth.

I gotta be honest I think it's a cool game with some cool ideas but, I feel if Bethesda released something like this people would shit all over it... Just imo. Why do people ignore the jank?

But Bethesda cant even write dialogues and stories anymore. Its often just weird gibberish. And jank...i dont know...jank is part of these games I would say. If its not janky, its not a real open world RPG. :messenger_winking_tongue:

I can tolerate some jank and bugs when the core game is interesting and doesn't feel soulless. For example, Starfield turned out to be for me one of the most boring and repetetive AAA games I can remember. And I'm saying this as someone who was really hyped for it. Also, KCD2 feels much more polished to me than KCD1, haven't really come across any major issues yet.

To a great extent it's just shitting. In games like this (KDC2, Bethesda's, etc), in which dynamic system-based simulation is a big part of it (unlike TW3 or BG3) there will always be some level of jank.

EDIT: But people are right that Bethesda has a lot less excuse for it, not to mention that they are a shadow of their former selves.

But, can you kill the main characters in this? Also, exploration. Is it map marker free?
You can kill nearly everyone, except main characters. Guess its to make sure you can progress through the story without problems. Map markers are there (and I am happy about it). But there is a hardcore modus coming up soon or keep an eye on mods to mod these markers out.

No, you can't kill some key NPCs. The map isn't key free by default but I think you can turn those off.
Cool.

Similar to Skyrim then.

Will be pretty happy if its comparable to that game as well.

Am on console.

But none of those are an issue for me. Just curious about Morrowind comparison.

Its a sim style rpg. What do you expect? Cinematic title style animations?

Or do you want them to reduce npc behaviour to just a few actions thus reducing freedom this offers?
Speaking more on the combat side of things, the feel and flow of combat for me is a huge part, I just personally don't find the combat that fun at all same with the original game.

But im still early.

I think it's much better than Skyrim as far as the NPC-sim aspects go. But I think there are issues in the interaction of those sim-systems and the scripted/quest aspects of the game. I gave some examples above, and it does bring some frustration and suspension of desbilief issues. But it depends entirely on what you do or not do, given the immense free-form aspect of play, so your experience may be different.

That isnt about jank then.

Might I suggest to look into the skill tree and see if you can figure out an enjoyable build?

A lot of these games get way more enjoyable once you have a build going.

Absolutely, like I said im enjoying it, I just don't find the combat to be it's strong point ultimately is all really.

The only jank I've noticed after five hours was Mutt glitching onto/around my farkle table.

As for saving, I found a field of Belladonna and Nettle not far from the first town. I spent time at the Alchemy table and came away with 60+ Savior Schnapps. If you brew it perfectly, you get 3 potions. And perks quickly open up that can turn that into 6 potions per brew.

The combat in the first was divise, not everyone found it terrible. At least not when duelling 1:1. Some people missed that you have to train with Bernard in Rattay since you suck at melee in the beginning otherwise. I'm guessing it's the same in the sequel? Otherwise there's always archery.

Yeah, training is so important. In this game you level stuff while you are doing stuff....the more you do one certain thing, the more you level up this one certain thing.

Try it. Game seems to be running extremely well (cryengine > unreal...confirmed?). DLSS4 can be used with yr card as well...since the latest driver update. (didnt tried it myself yet...but game looks awesome even without it)

This is legit one of the funniest games I've ever played, cannot overemphasize just how good the writing/voice acting is, absolutely top tier stuff.

Had a frustrating 30 minutes trying to fucking sleep lol. Henry was exhausted, eyes kept closing, slept in stranger's bed and got arrested 😂. Decided to pursue main quest which eventually opens up bed to use, this should be a priority for anyone starting out!
