Nintendo stock will dive to this news..their biggest shill will stop shilling for sometime
Cushy position at Nintendo on the cards?

He is openly a big Nintendo fan and was never one to rush to criticise them too harshly, but he wasn't as bad as you make out IMO. Can definitely see him taking a position with a big publisher, doubt he's off to another industry altogether.

One less clown, good. I hated how he adored to be the center of the news, spitting incomplete data just to flame war. Good riddance!

He literally wasn't allowed to share data directly without express permission bar historic relational percentage comparisons - which was fine when people had assembled large sheets of data and could shed a little more light by plugging the %s in.

The idea that he did this to fuel fanboi flame wars is a bit silly. Last thing anyone wants in his position is numpties on social media warring in the comments (although it's all engagement right, lol). He deffo allowed himself to get dragged in occasionally and had to take a few embarrassing time outs.

Can't wait for him to light the "Dragon Age sold like shit" match on the way out this month and walk away.
Going out with a bang, I like it. Fingers crossed he'll be even more forthcoming than usual with data and in twitter replies.

Let's agree to disagree.

This. He gave sales data because that's his job, not to "fan wars". If people act like fanboys then that's on them, not Chris.

I think it was just because people spam his stuff on here to where you saw it every other day. And it was mostly UK data content that doesn't pertain to any other region.

yea, I didn't see all he posted of course. But what I saw was just UK stats. Might not mean much to the US, but not worth getting butthurt over either. I was always just kinda meh towards UK numbers.

Outside Wii and DS the UK has traditionally been much weaker for Nintendo than people tend to assume. The Switch has been a huge success though. It’s hard not to give them credit.

And that is why gaming media is a joke.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
People like adamsapple adamsapple and others that decry when a UK games sales report based on physical media is released.

Dring also reports GSD sales etc, physical only sales when both major consoles mostly sell digital will always remain a half baked metric, but that's besides the point.

Half baked data is better than no data.

Chris actually stopped writing UK physical sales reports quite a while ago. He has continued writing UK and Europe digital reports though.
I don't think GI.Biz or Dring himself will completely stop reporting available data.
I hope not, but I do expect Chris to lose access to the data.
